I'm gonna assume your other slot is at least bootable
Boot into recovery
Factory reset
Flash ROM
Flash twrp
Reboot recovery
Flash vendor
Flash super user (if you flash magisk you need to flash twrp after it before you reboot)
Boot ROM

There are no gapps for pure nexus but if you needed to flash them do it after you flash the ROM and have rebooted once.

If want to use your current slot because you know its good. Boot into recovery. Go into reboot and select the opposite slot. Then choose to reboot into recovery and perform the steps I listed above.

One Question: When you do a factory reset with Pixel XL (twrp). Is TWRP still on the phone for flashing ROM:confused:

I've never done a Pixel XL (twrp) factory reset.

I wish I any of this answered my issue but NO, I followed the very well written instructions but I got a TWRP bootloop, the phone wouldn't even shut off. I used the instructions to re-flash the back factory and it's working again, but I would really like to use Pure? I'm just not getting this A/B slot thing? the instructions don't say anything about it, could this cause my bootloop? or Am I a fruit-Loop? LOL (sorry couldn't help it)

Nope, the phone was pure stock Fi and I've not flashed anything, When I saw these good instructions I thought I could do it but it didn't work for me? I followed your instructions to the letter, could my phone just now work with this?

I wish I could, it took me about 4+ hours to get it ready to start because of all the downloads and getting files in place.

I would be just listing your instructions, I've seen where some have done the same thing and had to renew it many times before something clicked and it worked?
it's strange how the phone wouldn't turn off? and it just would loop back to TWRP

I guess I should try again before crying for help, Thank you for your instructions they are very helpful I'm sure I just need to try again?

It scared me a little that's why I reflashed stock to get back. LOL :silly:

Well, it's gotten a little better? I get past the TWRP Bootloop and into the android screen with the leap frogging dots but it never get's out of there for over 20 mins still stuck there? I'm flashing PureNexus if that helps? After flashing the rom I also flashed TWRP again and then SuperSU 2.82

I flashed the rom, twrp and then SuperSU 2.82 all at same time? then rebooted. Should I try a reboot to recovery then flash SuperSU? could it be the lack of the rebooting into recovery?

You cant flash the rom with anything but twrp (because it patches both slots).

Its a waste of time because everything flashes to the active slot except roms. That means if you are on slot b, when you flash the rom it flashes to flash to slot A while super su flashes to slot B. When you boot out of twrp the device will switch slots to where the rom was flashed so it negates your super su flash.

You should clean flash the rom, then twrp and see if you can boot like that. You can come back and flash supersu later.

OK I'll Clean flash the room and Twrp, and after that try and reboot to system, and see if that get it.

Thank you for your help, Do you think it could be the ROM?

Id almost say you might be better off downloading a stock image, pull the boot img and flash it in both slots.

Code:
fastboot flash boot --slot all boot.img
Then fastboot BOOT (not flash) twrp, then flash the twrp zip

So, you are saying you followed the instructions in #5 and the Installation of Magisk for Pixel/Pixel XL is not working. One of your screen shots shows systemless hosts on but the instructions read Toggle on and off systemless hosts. Was your device rooted when you started trying to root with Magisk?

Yes, I have tried many times. Root works but safetynet does not. When I uninstall magisk, I loose root but safetynet passess as obvious and the screenshot tells that. Of course, in this case I had elemental kernel installed.

But as soon as I install magisk even following the procedure describe in op, the root works again but not the safetynet.

At this stage if I change slot and restart the device, I got magisk not installed but safetynet passess. I even tried to install magisk on both slot, and end up not passing safetynet on both slots then.

My device is Pixel XL and I am with Pure Nexus Rom July update and elemental kernel.

I have toggle systemless host and core only mode seperately and reboot ed couple of times.

Thanks.
