He got that by using Magisk. It patches the dtbo.img which causes that error on reboot. It can be ignored, or 14.6 allows you to not patch dtbo.

Read #1I'm on 8.1, on a Google pixel XL. Unlocked BL fine. But can't for the life of me figure out how to get this thing rooted. Tried flashing twrp and when I do the "fastboot boot twrp.img" command it says no such file or directory. But it's definitely in my platform tools. Also it seems like I have no stock recovery. I just bought the phone today, came from s8+. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: stock recovery was my bad, didn't know you needed to press additional buttons. But still can't flash twrp or root and I'm not by any means new to rooting.
I unlocked bootloader no problem, all of my commands work, fastboot reboot etc. But when I try to fastboot boot twrp it doesn't work. I just want to be stock 8.1 rooted custom kernel. As of now I'm 8.1 with unlocked BL.Read #1
Make sure Android SDK or Platform-tools (27.0.1 - December 2017) is updated.
What step are you trying to accomplish?

I have twrp.img in my platform tools folder.fastboot boot twrp
Expects a filename twrp (no extension) in the current directory, is that the case?
What is your current directory? Platform tools or somewhere else? The file needs to exist in your current directory.I have twrp.img in my platform tools folder.
The command I'm running is fastboot boot twrp.img like the OP says
I'm getting no such file or directory
Now I'm lost lol. I open command from my platform tools folder, where the file is, then run command. What is your current directory? Platform tools or somewhere else? The file needs to exist in your current directory.
Then your current directory is platform tools and hence the file is in your current directory. Now I'm lost lol. I open command from my platform tools folder, where the file is, then run command.

File extensions hidden can do that.Omg I figured it out. Because I named it twrp.img
It's already an .img file so it technically was twrp.img.img
So silly lol.
Now twrp won't accept my pin. Which I know is my screen pin.File extensions hidden can do that.
Good you've got it working.
