Spec, if you have solid red light - can you try this:

Run flashtool until it asked for the device then hold vol down plug in usb - wait & see if flash actually start - maybe in a while.

I want to see if it worked. I charged my phone until the red light is off - I wonder if needed to charge that long.

weird, I never got a green light - solid red then no light :D, even charging for a day & half. Seem like everyone is different, some were able to get the sony graphic charging % and you did get a green light . Anyway, glad you got it resurrected.

Unresponsive phone

So to make sure I'm doing the right thing here, my phone is completely unresponsive. Won't turn on or anything. Did a soft reset, phone vibrated once, then vibrated three times and now it's dead.

So soft-brick? Or is this thing really screwed up? Thanks

Leave it plugged in for a couple days. Wait foe the led to turn green. It takes a while so be patient.

Well great news phone is back and running great :)

I had it plugged in for about 18 hours then the Red light came on.
24+ hours later the Red light was off. So I tried to flash, nothing. It was just a wasted attempted and I nothing happened.
Plugged it back in, ~2 hours later the Green light came on and I could press Power to have the Battery Screen come on.

Flashed it and it worked! Thanks for the support!

I'm not sure why the Red light went off. I'm thinking maybe the cord was bumped and the charger wasn't plugged in all the way?

Flashed Xperia S kernel.elf by mistake. Any one done this by mistake or knowingly?

The phone is dead now. Charging it. Hope, it comes back to life.:fingers-crossed:

Didn't do that, but I did mistakenly restored a cwm backup from a different firmware than I had flashed at the time. Soft bricked it but discharge /recharge worked fine. Just that long wait.

Im having a similar yet different issue. I had the problem with zero response from the phone, no LED, backlight, No button response.

I pluged it in for nearly 24 hours... i got a solid red light but then the light shut off... no green. I tried getting in to flashmode but no luck.

Next i tried plugging it back in and i get a red light imeadiatley, for about 20 min but it then boots to the sony logo and starts looping again instead of going green. So i figured ill just let it drain and start over but that didnt work it shut itself off after about 15 min of looping.

So i plug it back in and there's the red light, i have no idea what to do!

FLASH mode, is used by FLASHTOOL and can be used on every model of XPERIA phone with a locked or unlocked bootloader. FLASH mode will give a soild GREEN notification led when connected. To connect in FLASH mode:
  • Start with the phone turned off (or in between loops for some tricks)
  • Press and HOLD the volume DOWN button. (don't let go ;) )
  • Now connect to a PC using USB
  • If all went correctly you will get GREEN led, then let go of button :)

To recover your phone you need to have FLASHTOOL ready and waiting at a specific spot.

If you need help with setting up & using FLASHTOOL {>>CLICK HERE<<}
  1. DO NOT CONNTECT YOUR PHONE
  2. First you need to have FLASHTOOL installed from {HERE}
  3. Now run FLASHTOOL.
  4. From FLASHTOOL home, select the flash/lightning bolt button
  5. Select FLASH MODE
  6. Select your stock firmware file
  7. WIPE: everything
  8. If available EXCLUDE: TA. (this option is not available for all stock.ftf files, if it's there just exclude it)
  9. Now click START button
  10. After FLASHTOOL prepares files, you should get this screen (or similar depending on version of FLASHTOOL)
  11. >>>>>STOP<<<<< FLASHTOOL is now ready for TRICKS

For help with finding your phones STOCK.ftf file

You can use the file for your XPERIA model below to recover from SOFT-brick.
To make your models specific .ftf file after you recover, you will find instructions {IN THIS POST}

MAKE SURE YOU USE A STOCK FIRMWARE FOR YOUR MODEL XPERIA. Each phone model has a different file. Using the wrong file will give you the very SOFT-brick your trying to fix. If your not sure then ask for help.

PC Companion can interfere with FLASHTOOL. Make sure it is NOT running when using FLASHTOOL.

Once you got Sony logo could you do a power&vol up reset to allow you to get into flash mode. Or at red led unplug and try flash mode. Need to get into flash mode to reinstall stock firmware. Did you have cwm recovery? During bootloop try entering and format system to allow flash mode.
Flashtool does not need to see phone to start flash process. Just don't plug phone to pc until says to put phone in flash mode

Or let it charge another day till you get the green led.

For those that accidentally soft brick your phone here are the basic steps you should take:

1. Let your phone go dead - no lights and no screen (can take about 1 or 2 hours, could be more depending on your battery level)
2. At this point, you should recharge your phone - You should get the normal charging red light, after a little while (10 - 15 minutes)you will get the Sony logo popup on your screen and a charging screen right after.
3. Charge your phone until you get at least 50%
4. At this point - you should be able to flash your device - following normal flash procedures
Hello

I'm with my sony ion on soft brick finally I put it to charge after some time begins to appear in the logo of sony INFINITE LOOP when I connect the phone using USB cable but as the computer recognizes the phone restarts as this in the computer LOOP shall not recognize the phone.

I wonder how to recover from this error?

Thank you.

Man... got home from work and the LED was off, not green, tried flashmode and no luck... plugged it back in and the red LED came back on.
Got some positive effect believe I'm in the same situation

Hello Guys

I'm following the steps seguites

1) I left my xperia ion charging the battery for 18 hours the LED turned red fixed unblinkingly as long as you can see in the video (VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuG3eMtd5eE&feature=youtu.be)

2) I tried to connect via flashmode without success and at this point was the red led not get the green in no time.

3) I removed the phone from the wall charger and put again and the result was that the red light went out and the phone turned on automatically but in Brick mode where we have several reboots of the system as we can see in the video (VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9TPAKx_4FY&feature=youtu.be).

4) Again I removed the unit from the wall charger and after a few minutes again and put red light started flashing as we can see in the video ( VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnGu_zZkblQ&feature=youtu.be)

5) I kept the charger into the wall and the red light stopped blinking but not on this wall and carrying up to now with the red light without flash. My question is should I wait for the green light again? What should I do?

Thank you.
