Why not just root via linux livecd? I posted a linux version of cwm tethering root method, very simple to use.So I did put an actual question in the Q&A related to the "E:No valid installer medium" error I'm seeing when the devices reboots into bootloader. My theory is that the pointers are off for me for some reason and if I could use adb commands to reboot the device, push the recovery file and SuperSU, and reboot into the recovery to install SuperSU then it would work. So my request is can someone post those steps? Maybe also the latest known firmware revision to work, and what devices Windows shows during reboot to ensure it isn't the driver that's off?
To add to the info, the 840 I have is running Acer_AVOK1_A1-840_1.061.00_WW_GEN1 and the 840FHD is running Acer_AVOK1_A1-840FHD_1.057.00_WW_GEN1, so if I actually need to downgrade them somehow I'm happy to do that if someone can help me with that as well. The battery drain and bloat is killing me, so I really hope I can root these.
Thanks!!!!
Many thanks Shreps.
