Hi!

As I didn't find all informations in one place to get a rooted and locked JB TF300T(G) starting with a stock ICS one I wrote down all the steps I made.

So let's start:

Code:
0. Having a TF300T(G) with ICS firmware

1. root using debugfs -> [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588"]Thread and tool by sparkym3[/URL]

2.1 download & install busybox
2.2 download "SuperSU free" -> [URL="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu"]Google Play[/URL]
2.3 run "SuperSU free"
2.4 grant SuperSU root rights to update the binaries
2.5 uninstall "Superuser"
2.6 reboot
2.7 run "SuperSU free" to check if root is enabled

3.1 download "Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper" -> [URL="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper&hl"]Google Play[/URL]
3.2 run "Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper"
3.3 press "Protect root"

4.1 check for OTA update via system settings
4.2 download & install OTA update

5.1 run "Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper"
5.2 press "Restore root"
5.3 run "SuperSU free" to check root access

6. Having TF300T(G) with: root, locked bootloader, warranty, newest official Rom
You may rerun steps 4.1 to 5.3 as there is maybe more than one update to do until you reach the newest firmware.

Thanks to bads3ctor for checking this guide.

Confirmed working builds (Guide / OTA Rootkeeper):

Code:
v9.4.3.26 (ICS) -> 10.4.2.20 (JB 4.1.1)
10.4.2.20 (JB 4.1.1) -> 10.6.1.8 (JB 4.2.1)
10.6.1.8 (JB 4.2.1) -> 10.6.1.15.3 (JB 4.2.1)
10.6.1.15.3 (JB 4.2.1) -> 10.6.1.27.1 (JB 4.2.1)

Rooting FAILED! You may want to running this tool again.
Your device region may not be supported if you see this message again.
Press any key to continue... :/ Any suggestions ? I'm with 10.6.1.8 build ;(

Which tool gives you this error message?

10.6.1.8 can't be rooted without unlocking at the moment. As stated in Step 0 you must have a tablet with IceCreamSandwich Firmware.

Works with update to version 10.6.1.15.3 from 16/04/2013.
i have the TF300TG with JB 4.2.1 and build JOP40D.WW_epad-10.6.2.3

what should i do to use the automated root (without unlocking) ?

should i downgrade to ICS? if so, how can i do this?

(i'm a noob about Android, this is only a test tablet for a project, i have to root it only for hide the navbar for a specific app...)

thanks

UPDATE
i found motochopper that auto-rooted my device

sucess

Confirm going from 10.6.1.15.3 (JB 4.2.1) to 10.6.1.27.1 (JB 4.2.1)

at step 5.3, it told me that SU failed updating binaries. I decided to re-run SU free and it was successful the second time around.

Thanks for this guide!

ps --- I used the Motochopper root method to get root the first time
