I got my phone this afternoon via UPS. I played around with it a bit. I had a few missing parts, the protective case and Sim removal tool. I called TMobile tech and they refunded $30 from my phone bill for the protective case! I was pretty thankful and full of Christmas cheer. Alas, I forgot to ask them to do a Sim unlock. So I called back. They sent me up to the next level and he tried to solve the problem by having me go to various places to find the unlock app. I found it but it wouldn't work. So he filed a request for a missing file/folder. Said it would take 72 hours to process then 2 weeks or so to get a solution. An hour or so ago I decided to recheck Sim unlock. Ran the program, rebooted and got it! Went to dev options and there it was, bold as could be,,, OEM unlock!

In hindsight I got the feeling that the tech guy was checking me out to see if I understood phones well enough, made his decision and got her done.

Tomorrow I root!

Merry Christmas one and all.

You will probably want to submit your unlock token request ASAP, because it takes exactly 7 days before you can download the unlock token.

Merry Christmas!! And yeah, you won't be able to root until you have that OnePlus token unfortunately. That is what's needed to unlock the bootloader, which of course is required for root. So submit that ASAP because it takes a week. Dumb process if you ask me. Also, your case might be there. It's snuck under the bottom of the box. I thought mine was missing as well originally. The bottom opens up though. Double check.

Thanks for that! Found it. It was well hidden.
After my post, I realized there was one more step and a wait. Lol, I'm on my way. It appears to be a great phone.

Another question. Is this correct? To enter commands when in,fastboot, I must install adb on my PC and connect my phone to my pc?

Yeah, you need adb on your PC of course. I normally just grab the Android SDK and install it. Or you can grab the zipped files without needing to install. Just Google it. There's a ton of posts with the adb/fastboot files.

So this seems to be the best McLaren thread going, so I got a question. I tried to install V4A with a workaround for Android 10 that I found here on xda, and it bootlooped my phone. Any idea?

OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren
2 boot images (zipped with ZArchiver app), one is stock and the other patched with latest available Magisk.

4.14.117-perf+
#1 Wed Dec 4 20:44:37 CST 2019

Android security patch level
November 1, 2019

As mentioned, booting the unzipped Magisk patched boot image requires an unlocked bootloader.
Having the above files in hand. What would be the procedure in rooting after unlocking the bootloader?
Would this procedure (First root guide) work?

Someone on this thread might know: https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro/themes/installing-viper4android-t4001045

Otherwise, you could try button pressing & holding (from powered off state) volume down + power until logo to access stock recovery, then resetting stuff. https://youtu.be/dTDKI_X6kDw

The same as the OP on page 1 of this thread from step 7 onward, if that is what security update you're on. The image after unzipping won't be as large as the boot partition due to omitting zeros, so you could always preliminarily use to clear as a precaution:
fastboot erase boot_b
(or boot_a if that applies to you)

The IMEI number is on the back of your phone and also in Settings-->About phone-->Status. The serial number is two lines below the IMEI on that same screen. The unlock code can be both lines run together (joined into one super long number) without a space.

All seem to match. I have a pic of the command line results if that would help. When i ran "adb devices" it showed my "serial number_unauthorized". I then typed the 64 letter code to notepad, then copied and pasted to the form.

You don't need adb for serial number, it's in Settings-->About phone-->Status.

unlock code
(line 1) 32 characters
(line 2) 32 characters
becomes
one 64 character line without any spaces

Also, you might want to double check you selected the 5G phone.

Well, I resubmitted and got no error and the status applied message appeared. I have no clue what was the difference, but all is well.

Thanks for your time and Merry Christmas!

Hey folks. Just got my mclaren 2019/12/23, got network unlocked the same day, and put in for the oneplus unlock.bin file immediately after.
I was considering the idea of perhaps looking into the unlock.bin file and seeing if we as a community can put together enough samples of
the imei, serial, unlock code, and resultant bin to perhaps figure out how to manufacture our own without having to wait. However, it should
be noted that sharing imei and serial has its own risks (cloning phones mayhaps and things like that) but it may be worth looking into. In the
interest of fairness, I'd be willing to share those details with whoever shares them with me.

Not sure what you mean? Did you try booting from the TWRP image file or did you flash it? Also, you could go into stock recovery and do a complete wipe/reset. That should get you back.

How did people get a Sim unlock from TMobile they won't let me

I totally understand. I can't speak for other accounts, or what has been done in the past, however we are not able to bypass these requirements for you. :) We appreciate you. I hope that you have a fantastic day.
