Still have Samsung S7e and S9+, but they are Exynos, so don't have US TMo newer frequencies, and of course can't root Snapdragon, so that is why I went here. I am thinking about 8 Pro generic (not TMo if they carry it), as it seems to have the TMo frequencies, and will probably get more development.
Why even consider Samsung? Not trying to offend, but they are the closet to crapple on Android. ?. Get a Google phone, but wait until pixel 5. It might be worth it then. Honestly, all phones suck nowadays if you ask me. This McLaren is the best HW-wise. It's powerful. I just hate how OnePlus has been going these days. Ok, off my soap box.

The above is backwards- I started with them with S3 &4. The latter had duelboot (had 4 going at one time). It was a major dissapointment when it wouldn't work on 9 's.

So that's why I tried OnePlus, but had to get a carrier phone to do so. I am now looking at 8's, as non carriers should work ok in the US.

I was a little buzzed last night, sorry. I have nothing against Samsung. I mean, I still wouldn't use their phones anymore. But they are not that bad. I have always wanted pure Android experience and with the ability to mod it how I want. I hate how root and everything is so frowned upon. Anyways, the OP 8 looks pretty nice, and especially because it's not carrier-locked. But man, the McLaren screen is sooooo good. And it's the last with that cool popup selfie camera.

The main reason I root is for Doze to be disabled without having to connect to a PC after a reboot. Samsung allows all battery optimizations to be turned off without root, opposed to OP requiring it to be done on a per app basis, and One UI is tenfold improved from the TouchWiz days.

I want the OP8P, but I won't give up my JOD lease option to get it.

What is the main reason for turning off doze? I don't see it making a huge difference in battery consumption. To each their own I guess. However, I think you can disable it system wide without root.

Timely notifications. Ever since Oreo, Doze starts as soon as the screen turns off, which then leads to delayed notifications which come in batches as the phone is "allowed" to wake up.

Doze drives me nuts. It is great only when sleep but that is the point of DND. I wanted as pure Android and the Pop Up came was a real winner. I dont use selfie cams. I wanted a pure screen with no punches. I really wanted to root and flash off the TMO crapware. I should have bought the phone from OP instead of TMO. My fault.

T-Mobile really doesn't load up a lot of bloat on their phones, and most of it can be easily disabled without root. And for the ones that can't, you can use adb shell commands to "delete" any system apps that cannot be disabled. But be careful, because doing this to the wrong app means you need to factory reset to get them back.

Curious about factory reset - exactly what does it do - wipe everything except unlocked bootloader ? I am very familiar with Samsung phones, but want to be sure here.

Same thing it does with Samsung. Bootloader only relocks when you run the command to do so, or run the MSM tool.

I get this is not available in this region error coded when I try to unlock my bootloader what region you need to be to access there site I tried the USA and UK and still get the same error code.
Do you have the US TMO version, and do you have a OnePlus account in the US? The link from the first post should take you right where you need to go after signing in.

adb shell dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-
name/boot of=boot.img

adb pull /boot.img

But terminal gives me this:

sh: adb: not found

Can anyone help me please!?

If you're booted into TWRP, adb should work just fine as long as you are running the command from a directory with adb located. Also, make sure you enabled adb debugging beforehand. Not sure why this wouldn't work. I've ran it a bunch of times. Also, make sure you're using a newer adb.exe.

You don't type then in TWRP. You type them in Windows Command Prompt, you just need TWRP to be running since stock OP recovery does not support ADB commands.
