Here's another android 7.1.2 port, I'll check it out tonight...
Just thought I share this info!

Regards Sam

ViperOS
Thank You!
I downloaded it and will try it tomorrow..Will back up the current version of Lineage OS and will flash this!
I have a problem with Spotify: when the screen turns off ,it stops. It was the same with CM13 . I have put a condition"If Spotify & internet radio are running" the CPU governor is locked at minimum frequency of 1,196 MHz and the same is the maximum frequency." i.e the CPU is at its highest frequency which I decreased from 1,300Mhz to 1,196Mhz.Thus it runs faster.
Hotplug,cfq.
Radio doesn't stop so it's not the media server.
Not FM radio but internet radio.
But actually it is not a huge problem!

Best regards: Jimmy ?

Go to settings, battery, tap 3 dots menu, tap battery optimization, choose all apps from drop down menu, search Spotify and tap it, choose "don't optimize"...
Starting with Android 6 Doze was introduced, I guess System sends Spotify into doze when screen is off hence it stops working...
You might want to check this modified Spotify out, that's what I'm using, it's ad free with some goodies :) information is in the thread...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-spotify-dogfood-ad-free-spotify-t3632423

Unfortunately viperOS has the same Bluetooth bug as RR nougat, that's why it's not really usable for me, I'll stay with lineageOS 13 where everything works, even I miss the optimized speed, Substratum and Magisk but as I mainly listen to music or watch videos with this tablet I really need a working Bluetooth connection, seems it picks wrong libraries and therfore plays audio and video about 10x to fast, tried several approaches to fix the problem but no success yet...

Anyways, nice weekend! :highfive:

Edit: @jimmy19742 by the way, dirty flash from RR N to viperOS worked well for me, just wipe system, cache and dalvik and flash ROM and gapps, backup recommended

Hi ,Sam!
It was really DOZE the reason for my problems with Spotify! So thank You for N-th time.
I backed up Lineage OS with the new TWRP but it could not back up the system partition.
The log says "Cannot create system.img
Skipping......"
Will try again!
Unfortunately, Spotify dogfood installation failed on my Lenovo A3500H.
Will try with a package installer
Wish You have a pleasant evening!?

Best regards

Well, do you backup system & system image? Cause system is enough, no need for system image... I already did use backup & restore and it worked flawlessly, still I think of switching back to TWRP 3.0.2 as it seems to work perfectly and I had no issues with it, I wrote a little on the TWRP 3.1.1 thread about the "issues"...
As for dogfood, there are detailed instructions on the dogfood thread, haven't checked it on the a3500 but on my OnePlus 3t it works beautifully, never had a single problem, I'll check it out on my lenovo a3500 soon to give feedback...

Edit: by the way, check out this YouTube mod too, in case you missed it, it's adfree with background playback enabled, something you'll never want to miss :)
Check especially the 2nd post, it's for either magisk or SuperSU with installer script, regularly updated, just awesome...

I told you about liquid porting already I believe, here's a link to their github with another TWRP 3.1.1-4, last number stands for the device specific revision....

https://liquidporting.github.io/twrp/

Choose Lenovo Idea Tab A7-50

Edit: something seems wrong here, says recovery is too big and won't flash properly, if I find any solution I'll let you know...

Hi Sam! It's been a while but I switched to RR 5.8.4 and it's pretty sleek.
I tested viperOS too.Bluetoth don't work on both but on Viber OS the software buttons on the bottom were missing.
I also will reverse TWRP to 3.0.3.
Thought it's beta 3 , RR 5.8.4 is faster than Lineage OS 13!
Have you made any settings in zRAM feature?
I set it up to 300MB and my device is faster now.

:)
Best regards: Jimmy!?

Hey Jimmy,
RR 5.8.4 is just great, finally Substratum on this old device :) unfortunately I'm stuck with lineageOS 13 cause without a proper Bluetooth connection the device is pretty much useless to me...
I also switched back to TWRP 3.0.2 because I couldn't see any substantial improvements on TWRP 3.1, also the bugs are just annoying and 3.0.2 works just fine in any aspect...
Sorry can't give you much advice regarding nougat on this device, have a nice one :highfive:

Yeah, the original author of this ROM posted a GPS patch along with the ROM, also a camera patch/fix is available...

GPS fix

Camera fix

Flash in recovery, make a backup, just in case you're not satisfied with the results, I'm not aware of any uninstalling methods..

Without You we would be lost ,Sam!
Muchas Gracias!
Keep the good stuff coming!
Can't wait for RR 5.9.4
Respect & Cheers!???
Yeah, that's the good thing about this community :) sharing & caring...
If Oreo will ever arrive to this device it's going to take a while, anyways I'd be more than happy with Nougat but a critical feature (Bluetooth) is missing so I stay with lineageOS 13, which works great for me, I'm really thankful for this considering the long years without any custom software, sure I'd love to use Nougat but Marshmallow is fine too for the time being...
By the way, I had a chat today with Khaos from Liquid Porting and reported that their TWRP 3.1.1-4 cannot be flashed (at least on the a7 40) because "image to big for recovery partition" issue, he gave me some hints which wasn't helping in the end but he also said to have a look himself and hopefully I can test stuff for him, if all is well we could maybe have a fully functional up-to-date TWRP for our device soon, let's see - I keep you notified..

Nice weekend everyone! :highfive:

Hi Sam,

thanks for all the info and links. I 've a few questions. I have my A3500-H running 4.4.2. It is rooted and has the (touch) TWRP recovery 2.8.0.0.

After reading your posts I decided to go for lineageOS 13 (downloaded from the link you provided above). Got gapps ready too.

1) can I use TWRP 2.8.0.0 to flash it ?
2) in case the answer to 1 is no, what do I do to install TWRP 3.0.2 ? Install and use the official TWRP app?
3) I suppose I don't need any of the fixes (audio, GPS, Bluetooth) you are mentioning above because they were for cm13, right?

Thanks for everything
