Ok which root method you've used?the Superuser one or SuperSU?i have flashed both files and they are working flawlessly, and my device is running 4.3 jelly bean, one more suggestion, if it's still require's you to update the SU binary even after flashing both rooting files then try to update the binaries if you haven't done them already.

hello,
i have searched "root one tap tab 3 p5200" on androidxda, did your device stopped working after you flashed the Root file or TWRP recovery??and i don't know if my guide would solve your problem, but you can give it a try.
if it doesn't work here is a solution:
grab your tabs firmware from this site https://www.mediafire.com/?u6ztqqck8gau6wg and extract it (i assume you have a computer to do that) and flash it through odin and try rooting the device again.

What is the 'root' file I'm supposed to copy to the tablet?

Hello everyone,
my english is not too good so exuse me.
This guide is for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 P5200/P5210 only.
i take not responsibility for bricking your device so be carefull.
i have rooted my galaxy tab 3 10.1 P5200 without pre-rooted firmware and i want to show you all how i did:
1-Download TWRP Recovery (make sure to use the version that matches your tab model):
Link for the P5200 model: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952613332
Link for the P5210 model: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952613346
2-Download Odin 3.07:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23060877490002273
3-Download the ROOT file (SuperSU):
UPDATE New link and version:
https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU
Incase if the SuperSU root method doesn't work, try this one instead (Superuser):
http://www59.zippyshare.com/v/96195148/file.html
4-Reboot into download mode(hold volume down+power, you will see a warning message, press volume up to continune)
5-Open Odin,Connect the Tab to the computer and click on PDA,then select the TWRP recovery,
-make sure to uncheck 'auto-reboot' before flashing, because the tab might reinstall the stock recovery (thank you Benzoman for telling me that).
6-When done, copy the ROOT file direcly to the internal storage of the tab (or even external sdcard) and reboot into recovery (hold volume up+power).
7-select install zip from sdcard, locate the root file where you have copied it (Internal storage or sdcard) and select it.
8-flash the root file.
9-reboot the tab,you will see a new app called SuperSU or Superuser, and surprise your tab is rooted :)

Credits goes to the developers who made the rooting method possibe on this device,i didn't make them so im only here to share information.

Have a nice day!!:)

I get the TWRP screen that gives me the option to install, backup, restore, wipe, etc. but what file am I supposed to be putting on the tablet, where do I get it and where do I PUT it???

the root file in this thread is "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip" after you have downloaded the file copy it directly to your tab using a computer.

My only problem is, second half of the touch screen doesn't work so I am not able to "Swipe to Confirm Flash". Is there anyway I can enable orientation or "force" flash without swiping by changing some thing in the settings/recovery tool.

in your case try this recovery (CWM):
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23125694133305802
flash this recovery through odin then continune from the step 7 in the thread.
it works only with physical buttons (use volume buttons to move, power button to proceed).

There's a problem for me... in Odin, with the options, they always stay greyed out so I can't uncheck the auto-reboot function. Help?

EDIT: Nevermind, I fixed the problem. Thanks for the guide!

Hi everyone, I have a gt-p5200 and I would like to root it. I tried to follow the tutorial in the first post several times but at every reboot I get the stock recovery and it's impossible to flash the supersu apk. Is there a way to root this device? (P5200XXUBNK1).. Thanks and happy new year!

Great guide. First one using twrp for the 10.1
Works great. Only suggestion is to uncheck auto reboot in odin because some people have issues with the tab reinstalling stock recovery with auto reboot.

Yes it nice to have root. TWRP is a little laggy though. It take a few swipes to get it repond sometimes. CMW is another alt but it takes up a whole lot of room for a backup. Almsot 9 gigs! TWRP is closer to 2.5 gigs for a full back up.

I know its little laggy but at least its more stable than CWM ;)
