Lollipop Yeah!!

Ok I got the update and installed it. Good news is that the system runs really well with the update. Everything feels way faster with Lollipop. The system is 64 bit. The lonovo launcher is gone!!! It looks much more like stock Android now

Regarding root:
* the temporary CWM does not work anymore :crying:
* I was on a rooted KitKat ROM before the update. The su binary was not deleted by the Lollipop update!!! However, the su binary is 32 bit whereas the system is now 64 bit, so it doesn't work anymore
-> so installing the 64bit SuperSu binaries manually before the update might keep root on lollipop

Lollipop fails because of root

When I checked for a system update it offered me a new version together with a warning that my system is rooted and the upgrade might cause problems or may fail. The download went ok, but flashing is failing afterwards. It just aborted and even within the toolkit or the recovery itself it is failing again and again. Reboot is working and KitKat is still alive. Any idea how to pass?

My 1050F was also rooted with Kitkat 4.4.
The update to 5.0 begun also with a warning that my system is rooted and the upgrade might cause problems.
The process take a long time (20 minutes) and the 1050F reboot.
All okay after booting in Lollipop, but root not anymore.

Regards Frank

As I wrote already - no luck. It does everything - but fails after reaching 100%. There is meanwhile already an upgrade question thread started, as I am not the only one having an issue. Even after a factory reset - SuperSu stays present. No luck so far on my device. Unfortunately not even a CWM or TWRP recovery is available - at least I did not find anything beside the temporary solution.

Hey guys, if you want to update you need to go into your su app and disable super user. Its under settings in the app. You'll be a me to update but you will lose your root!

Nope, no way to pass the upgrade successfully. I will now flash the original rom via the PhoneFlashTool and upgrade afterwards. This seems to work fine, but unfortunately without root for the time being. :crying:

After looking into this a bit, I can say it won't work. The Lollipop update doesn't delete binaries but it does delete the SuperSu start script (/etc/install_recovery.sh). The binaries itself seem to work as the system is 64 bit (x86_64) but the system binaries are x86 according to the new build.prop. But if the SuperSU daemon doesn't get started root won't work.

So we're out of luck at this point. We need either a working (temporary) CWM/TWRP or we get a full Lollipop image to flash via PhoneFlashTool to inject root there.

more help

If system update fails do the following:
1. Flash stock firmware
2. Optionally you can wipe user data (I never did that) from DROIDBOOT
3. Go to contacts manager. Create some dummy contact if list is empty.
4. Go to Search / Find Contacts and enter ####6020#. It will ask you to select country code (first two latin letters, ignore Chinese).
5. Select what you want, then reboot.
6. Go to System Update
7. Install OTA update
I installed an official rom, when i type ####6020# on search contact, it says: '' ERROR could not read factory ota patch from SD card, or the patch is not correct''.
please explain more.
thank you
