Why is it actually necessary to remove/bypass the FRP?

Do I still need to use the "FRP Bypass" if my Galaxy S7 Active from AT&T is unlocked? I mean, every EU SIM card I have tried works great and would it be still unlocked the same way as it is now if I update to 7.0?

BTW My S7 Active AT&T is on untouched OFW 6.0.1, Baseband: G891AUCS2APL1 (I bought it that way from an eBay seller).

Mine has been in recovery booting screen for a while and Im reading all these replies in this thread and Im confused on what to do. If i try to do the steps listed, Right after step 3 it would just be stuck in the Samsung Galaxy s7 active screen.

Mine didn't take the bootloader at first, so I went to the Stock rom and flashed it, went off without a hitch...
I then rebooted and got to download mode, reflashed the bootloader from this guide, ran the .bat and it keeps going forever with: "No space left on device"

Do I need to clear cache or something?
TIA

I got the first 4 steps but when I try to actually flash the rom I get FAIL!(Auth) and on the phone it says "SW REV check fail: [aboot]Fused 3 > binary 2" Is there anyway to fix this? TIA
Did you ever figure this out? Im in the same boat, everything went smooth until step 6 fails with the same error you have.
After that i can reboot the phone and do whatever i want in the phone but i get a notification "Unathorized actions have been detected Restart your device" restart doesnt seem to change anything as i still get the same notification after reboot.

UPDATE: seems this error was from odin trying to install a older version of android than what was currently on the phone so it wouldnt do it. Inserting the sim card and getting all the updates from ATT fixed the issue.

I was curious about this as well. Fortunately, that is good sign!

Unlocked! Thank you to the devs!
