seems there is a hidden code for going to RF Test on android 12 , please check it by Samsung dialer and share result and its appreciated to tell CSC,

Code : *#73#
This code also works for me it gets me to the RF test menu directly for band selection and I can confirm when you remove nr5g bands it drops to 4G LTE and when I add all 5G bands it immediately connects back to 5G so they are doing something so I'm curious if we don't leave that page if it connects to another 5G band like a sea band or something I will test later tonight.

All the snapdragon n20 ultra have the same motherboard. In the bottom image you can see the Note 20 ultra motherboard. All model numbers supported. What differentiates the different models is a solder bridge. I'm the top image you see the U 0 D W. The u is bridged in this instance, making it a Sm-n986u. Further, the motherboard type is detected by the bootloader and sets a board id (6,2,0,-;Machine model: Samsung C2Q CHN PROJECT - SM-N9860_REV07C (board-id,10)), that board id is then detected by the modem bootloader and sets the particular config file to be loaded based on the board id (549_a_0.mbn) in the case of the SM-N9860. This config file then sets the particular bands the phone supports. All n20 U support all the bands, they are just encoded by the board and the software. No amount of tweaking that I know of will get around that. You may be able to open the phone and solder a different bridge, but I'm not sure if there are any files put on the phone during the build, that cannot be overwritten.

I'm curious if there's a test mode for developers, that enable all bands I know for a fact there are test Sims so we just need to figure out a way how to either make these bands stick or somehow get a config file to open up all bands if there's some way we could edit the Sim files The Sim configs or the modem files perhaps would do this?

Like I said I heard the dish firmware unlocks all 5G bands automatically out the box.

If anyone wants to know I got the enable guides and UE setting menu back on Android 12.

I am using the stock dialer

I do have a Verizon sim which blocks everything even the star pound 0011 pound code,
After using this method I now have codes back but I cannot access the b a n d menu.
But I can get to it through the menu above but when I try to select performance mode or whatever they call it it says to use the star pound band method but it doesn't work for me cuz it still doesn't work but I can still set everything set up in the guide but I do not have CSC access either...

If anyone wants to try it make sure you have all your drivers installed correctly like you normally would you can probably get all that information up above.

Download this tool I don't know if the link works on this website but this is their official website if they try to make you pay for it just Google it and you'll find it for free but I think it's for free downloadable at this website above.

Now keep in mind I did this with a Verizon sim on a Verizon CSC on a 988u model running the latest Verizon u1 firmware

So I'm not sure if this will work with other cscs or other firmwares but I don't see why not this is why I'm telling everybody so they can hopefully try and it works for them.

After downloading the Sam FW FRP 3.1, on your phone make sure USB debugging is turned on, and make sure on the menu *#0808# it's set to dm+modem+adb.
Then connect your phone, you can either hit info tab right under the word tool at the top to see if it pulls information from your phone if not you have a driver issue but if all is well and information pulls from the phone, continue to the "MTP" menu, there should be an option called "enable secret code for Verizon beta"

Click that and let it do its thing if it comes up with any prompts make sure you follow them and once it finished reboot your phone and try the codes or you can try the codes without rebooting this is the code that works for me.
*#27663368378#*

The menu comes up is the same as above protocol State UE setting etc debug screen RF test hardware test and two more.

Everything seems to work and stick I am still actively trying to have all the band stick but I can confirm when you make changes immediately in the app the band settings you set do take effect but eventually once you leave the app they seem to not stick.

I don't know if this is a rooting issue or a firmware issue but I can confirm I have successfully locked to different LTE bands and I have actively tried to turn on c-band without much luck here because of where I'm located.

But later tonight I'm going downtown where they have sea band and more wideband access and I will be testing this menu I have been trying to get to for the longest time and after I tried the Verizon secret code beta in the app the first code I tried
*#0011#
If that menu works for you immediately after going through the app on your computer with the enable secret code then you're golden and everything should work.

I have successfully removed 5G prune and other settings.

And have noticed that those settings do stick.

Another thing, if anyone needs screenshots I guess I could take some or make a little video of how to do this but it's very simple.

I just got lucky I was originally trying to change my CSC and the app above also works for changing your CSC and I also use Sam key and bought a couple credits to use to change CSC but it was just a waste of money because this app does the same thing for free but let me tell you, when you change CSC through these apps as soon as you're done your phone wants to reboot and it wants to load the settings of your sim card, so basically it makes everything you did worthless because you're right back to a carrier CSC.
Does anyone know any more codes to try to access more menus because it seems like certain codes are working and certain codes aren't.

Be very careful with those menus there's a couple times where I went through certain things and I lost connectivity and I had to go back and change certain settings to get connectivity back you can really mess things up.

The CSC menu is really what I need to get access to, I really need to access the menu so I can turn on that option at the bottom where it doesn't reset your phone every time you enter a Sim because I think on a xaa CSC all 5G bands will be enabled, if you enable them is this true or do they not stick? Also somebody earlier posted some screenshots of the band selection menu that you can get to and they had theirs full of 5G bands where they could toggle them on and off I have tried to reach this person and find out how they had all them 5G bands available in that selection app and he hasn't responded yet I'm really curious about this as well I have heard that the dish firmware has all 5G bands unlocked.

If anyone has any questions please let me know and happy nodding good luck I hope this works for you!
OMG that's where I get firmware on my phone. And I never tested their tool since I thought it's just an FRP unlocker IDK that there's more on that tool.

And it works on my US unlocked note 20 ultra 5G SM-N986U1 on XAA CSC.
I can now access all ue settings no need to downgrade.
Your post must be on the 1st page!
Thank you very much!

But sadly I still didn't get 5G signal it says Not restricted and I already confirmed that 5G is working on my sim using iphone 12 on n41 band.

Screenshot_20220903_113709.jpg

Maybe it is because this phone only supports n41 5G anchored on LTE band 41.
My network uses LTE band 3 for the anchor band for n41 5G (Smart Philippines)
Or because I can't activate the DSS on my device?

Is the DSS settings accessible on your phone?

Awesome stuff man so you're not on Verizon you're on some other carrier and it worked for you? Also are you sure you're not connecting? The thing with Samsung phones what I noticed is that you see it says disconnected there a lot of times you have to have a data connection in order to be connected.

What I'm saying is basically make sure you're outside or have a good line of a signal don't be in the basement while doing this and open up YouTube or some other data intensive app and then go ahead, and turnip the settings to the highest resolution for the video so it really sucks a lot of data you don't have to do this if you have a data plan and you're worried but you can turn it up a little bit but what I'm saying is there has to be an active data connection for 5G to connect otherwise it usually drops down when the connection isn't there.

Also another good way to check you can hit in netmonster , the left hand corner the little three lines there to open up more settings and then click on log instead of live and that will give you a list of logs and it'll tell you if you actually connected to 5G at all or if you're just stuck on 4G tell me what that page looks like.

Also I do have access to NSS controls in my phone

The signal isn't the problem since I'm here on the center of our town and towers are in walking distance.
I also checked the logs on netmonster but there's no 5G detected.

I tried to change my CSC using the samfw tool if I can activate the DSS but no luck it still says "NR DSS not support" maybe changing the firmware like yours VZW not just the CSC can activate it. I'll try it later.

And btw some CSC like DSH, ATT etc that I tried cannot access the service menu using *#27663368378#* but the *#73# works but not directly you need to select BAND SELECTION then press the BACK (on the 3 dots) 4 times to access the main menu. Edit your post and add the *#73#.

So you use my method to get the codes to work correct? Also in that monster can you click on the Little triangle next to NSA and tell me what it says when the box comes up at the bottom does it say disconnected but not restricted by carrier or does it say just say disconnected? Also in that menu you can see the list of cscs available in your phone I have like six of them but none of them is dish but I'm curious if I flash dish if I get all the bands unlocked I think I may try that next but I noticed that the LTE band stick but not the 5G bands and you can't individually select the 5G bands.

If you go back to the second or third page, there's a guy named rain something look for his username his post he's posted screenshots on his band selection screen and in his screen he had tons of 5G bands that's what I'm trying to get to and I'm going to do it.

Yes your method should be made before accessing the *#73# otherwise it will show a blank menu.

I think the DSS should be enabled so I can connect to 5G because I think it is required on 5G NSA since the function of DSS based from google is "enables the parallel use of LTE and 5G in the same frequency band". NSA 5G uses LTE to work. And I cannot locked the band without enabling LTE bands since it is required on NSA 5G.

What band are you tryng to unlock?
I can't find the comment of rain.

Here's the screenshot.
I already tried downloading something if it triggers 5G but still it is not restricted.
The phone is really the problem since I already tested the 5G signal using my sim on both android and iphone with 5G capability.

I am getting 261 mm wave here in the area but the thing I don't like about the Samsung phones is that they don't stick on the 5G signal like OnePlus phones and other phones do like it constantly drops down the LTE and then when you use the data then it jumps back up to 5G I just wish it would stick on 5G all the time and I've been messing with other settings but I can't seem to find out how but I'm really really trying to figure out how to get these 5G bands enabled and that person who posted way earlier in the thread had every one of them available for selection I'm trying to figure out how that's possible and how I can get that way.

At least band 77 or 78 for sea band you know what I mean.

What is GCF whitelist I've seen it and I've disabled it but I don't know what it does? And to the guy having 5G problems what firmware are you running? And what kind of sim are you running? Like what service provider I've never heard of smart.
gcf whitelist blocks hidden or disabled 5g bands when you enable them. the only way to get those bands working

Doesn't seem to do anything if I do that afterwards and then I go to band selection and enable all bands they don't stick and they don't show up in that top list where you can enable and disable them.
Any other options or info you may have? I still really need to find out about that person earlier in the thread who had all the bands available.

Perhaps there's a way of doing it that makes them stick like enable the bands and then remove the white list or remove the whitelist enable the bands and then go to band selection I'm not sure but they're not sticking and I can go in the list and I can enable everything but disable the main ones that are that always stick and it will not connect to any 5g. And it'll just refresh the list after I go back to it showing that it's not connected to any 5G there's no 5gs left in the list when I remove all the standard ones that show up I'm kind of stuck.

I will try different ways of doing it perhaps you need to reboot after doing the NR whitelisting removal?

What about the other option in that menu should that be turned off perhaps it doesn't seem to have anything to do with NR though..

Lucky for you because you are on US and 5G there are 5G SA that doesn't need LTE signal.

I tried to flash Verizon firmware and now I can enable the DSS settings but still no 5G.
I already remove GCF whitelist, remove all prune combo. Enable 4x4 mimo. I tried everything that can be turned on but no luck.

BTW *#73# works without doing your method maybe the settings sticks even after flashing new firmware or IDK maybe they open it after an update because I tried that *#73# few months ago but it shows blank.
If someone read this just use *#73# first before trying the samfw tool method.

So I therefore conclude that LTE anchor band is the only problem and I don't know if someone knows how to modify it so it can support my carrier SMART COMMUNICATIONS (Philippines).

I think this phone is configured to anchor on LTE band 41 only for 5G n41 band. (Configuration for Sprint)

I'll try some more CSC before I give up lol 😆

Here's my software info if someone wants to activate DSS.
Screenshot_20220903-171221_Settings.jpg

Edit: it's not about the CSC if you want to activate DSS it's the model.
If you are on U firmware DSS settings is accessible but not on U1 (Note 20 Ultra 5G)
U can't access EFS folder but U1 can.

Edit: U1 with sprint csc can edit DSS settings

I believe I may have either wiped out (deleted) or disabled the mmWave bands on my Note 20 Ultra because NR 260 and NR 261 are no longer on the NR5G Band Preference list.

How do I get them back?

That's how you get them back I wiped mine out too and was screwed did everything but you add that file back and it'll work.

Fyi DO NOT under ANY circumstances hit the option Remove_mmawave_Card.

When you are on that screen of options be extremely careful because if you click that and I accidentally did yesterday night you will lose mm wave almost forever.

If it wasn't for the Post above where somebody actually got an engineer to help them and find the right file to re-add we would be screwed so make sure you are extremely careful messing around in there.

I did everything to rebuild the NV I went ahead and flash new firmware and everything and it could not bring back the mm wave card and that's because it's a separate modem add-on.

When you click remove mm wave card it actually deletes the file from the NV database in your phone and no matter what you do you cannot get it back. Well that was until whoever was kind enough to figure out how to fix it above but just be extremely careful because this phone almost made it in the trash yesterday night because of that issue and it was through a lot of Google searching that I found a remedy to the fix I actually talked to the author as well but he no longer has the z fold 2 , where the file came from and that's because it shares the same modem as we do the phone is based off of the same phone as the note 20 and the s20 ultra and so on so everything's the same so that's why it worked.

I was going to tell you I thought it had to do with your firmware anyways but I'm a you firmware flashed over to you one firmware but I've had that feature available in both I think it has to do with the firmware is here in the USA and also there's only one carrier that has standalone 5G here and that's T-Mobile.

Almost all of our 5G currently is non-standalone based off an LTE anchor.

So you are incorrect on that but as time goes on other carriers will release standalone 5G but currently T-Mobile is the only carrier with standalone 5G. But for whatever reason I cannot connect to it with my OnePlus 8 even though it's provision for it but I can connect to the Tower on this phone, but it's not anything special anyways The Golden child is n41 here I usually get downloads everywhere I go at least four or 500,mbits all the way up to 800 on T-Mobile with the OnePlus 8

If someone read your fix there is another one if that doesn't work. I don't know if it works on other samsung device but on my Note 20 Ultra 5G here's a fix:

On the first release of note 20 ultra 5G esim is disabled try to flash oldest firmware with the same bootloader of your firmware now. The phone should have no esim after flashing.

And then flash the latest firmware available. It will reset all the settings of the modem too since they will make the esim available. That's it!

I discovered it when I messed up editing efs files and my phone shows no signal. Reviving using the backup files is no longer possible because the phone keeps disconnecting when connected to QPST tool. So this is the only fix that works. Hope it helps someone.

Man I wish I had Esim working on my s20 ultra I can actually find the SIM card manager and I can find the activation screen for the QR reader and the activation code where you manually enter the QR code for esim activation but I don't have any esim activation code so I can't try to activate or mess with it LOL

Also earlier today I flashed the dish firmware the latest one on you one and when I inserted my Verizon sim I had four extra 5G bands enabled but they were T-Mobile's 5G bands along with Verizon's 5G bands they included n41 and 71 and I forgot what the other two were it was really strange but I ended up doing a Sim swap and they disappeared not like they really mattered anyways but I'm starting to think there is no way to enable extra bands for this phone sadly.

But I'm still waiting on a response from the person who posted earlier in his thread that they had all the 5G bands available when they flash the dish CSC I also flashed the dish CSC but it didn't turn out that way for me.

But I'm curious if that person flash the dish CSC and left their phone without a SIM card that might happen.

Because I think the bands are enabled via the file that the SIM card tells it to load so it sees what carrier the SIM card is and it enables the 5G bands that that carrier uses within reason of course now if Verizon adds n78 they're not going to add it to our devices but they will add it to the s22 and the s21s I think already have n78 showing up in their band selection list it's just not on.

And sadly those of us with the s20s or any device from this era are left without support for that band.

Yes because our firmware are made for US telcos adding a band is a hardware thing.

I'm incorrect about the SA 5G since you posted a photo with SA band so I expected that you won't have a problem with the anchor LTE band.
But you are really still lucky because you're in the US and you're using the model that is made for that specific country so you have higher possibility to get what you need on that device except for the hardware part.

I gave up activating my 5G. I'm tired of setting up my apps after firmware flash lol.
The speed of LTE+ on my town is pretty good though for my personal use so I'll just wait if someone tries to mess with the Nv files to make the 5G works.

BTW if you are still on U firmware try the CSC change on the samfw tool it works without flashing if you want to test the DSH.
If you're on U1 I think there's no modem modifications after csc change using the tool but still try it.

    Hello All,

Many people have asked about service mode and CSC related questions and I thought we should get a discussion going that is all in one place.

*DISCLAIMER* I do not take any responsibility for any issues that may occur from changing settings in these screens. They have the potential to cause service or data lost if used incorrectly. You have been warned!

    Service Mode Guide

    Access Service Mode

To access service mode screen, first download the Google Phone App from the Play Store (Phone by Google-Caller ID & Spam Protection is the official Play Store Name)

After installing the phone app, open it up and select set as default *Note* You will only need the Google phone app to access service mode-Once all the changes are made you can keep using it or change back to what you were using*

Another pop-up will show and select the Phone (blue icon) and set as default. Go to the dial pad icon in the bottom right corner and dial the following:

    *#*#27663368378#*#*
When you dial the last * in the string above, the service mode menu will automatically show. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HIT THE CALL ICON BUTTON TO MAKE A CALL AT ANY POINT.

    .

Congrats, you are now in the service mode menu!

Enable all LTE and 5G Bands
*NOTE* Remember whenever navigating through the menus that the android back button on your device will automatically exit you back to the dialer. To go back, you must use the 3 dots menu at the top and select Back.

To enable all the LTE Bands go to:
    1-Option 2-UE Setting and Info
    2-Option 1-Setting
    3-Option 2-System
    4-Option 9-Next Page
    5-Option 9-Next Page
    6-Option 9-Next Page
    7-Option 9-Next Page
    8-Option 1-Set LTE Band Config
    9-Option 1-Set Default LTE Band

This should enable all the LTE Bands for the country that the firmware installed is from and the available roaming bands that are set in the firmware.

For the 5G Bands go back (using the 3 dots in the top) until you see UE setting menu and the 2 options for Protocol and System then:
    1-Option 1-Protocol
    2-Option 9-NR5G
    4-Option 3-NR5G Prune Status
Here you will see a [1] Remove NR5G PRUNE option as the last line. Select that option. If you visit this menu later, it will show a * next to NR5G PRUNE is Removed and the option will change to [1] Restore NR5G PRUNE, in case you want to go back.

    Enable DSS

Now that all the bands are enabled, you have to enable the DSS setting. Get back to UE SETTING MENU with Protocol and System options and:
    1-Option 1-Protocol
    2-Option 1-AS
    3-Option 9-Next Page
    4-Option 9-Next Page
    5-Option 2-NR DSS CONTROL
    6-Option 1-NR DSS ENABLE

Just reboot the phone after this and this should be all that is needed to enable all LTE and 5G Bands and DSS!

You can then go back into the Google dialer and dial *#*#2263#*#* and this screen will pop:
    g23W28hUIrJQHoFhP371hn1XQCK_w3b9JCOxfOL-bbhSB59PcquenA81d6n-O0HVtLbWbl3jMOgOSacBvtO5bFkpgzjIwMuRpeWntB8tt6xbOajvVxGILaaS_lrhvwlwC6EFC9sBZJsCqKIWTV4ZzEe27mVC6N87ghDJdTI6Ho6SdACNub_PC2Cey1EN8c6wdp96yckcA-C2b7MGZnrplsXHmslJOs0HDU1CO8uxdggQ6xKS5y4SVp0Xz80qsEpVhpakBC173cWSxPsuKS0LUQNgmvVcsA4NakqDSMaeI3luoI_2cpOn52B6k0TCZQOROYdDrT51mb1PXmP3Rk0V1F_lvqn-Yw6t0qrxXHoF1mDjw0fAeFRtQsS2SwbrV5Cbmuc-S5XGbWtiBQ9eTp6c3eXN7y2VtQHTgAcVyd54q0TZXALpPYb9l6vEkqBOejVbuAaGqAQFwRjJY-XEoQss1n_zNcQIVYLq8XSK9s80AlNB8ZG7zXJJk1EdnEcDpe9w--idATqW8AjC8-ZEtevgfvrAdaiZsEgbKSjQ3cQOS9rOsekqG3grAl0jb5jkHTcNw4BoIV4rDG2QYV-2bAH1-tpiwcNXN63izIYcykfMnvMHa9oqr68eN77G96WjMG6U7VcnQMsz26J-55MbHYshBSdkIua8Nk14tqhTyXLc1KmgyNzomCw05REvmmJB=w373-h800-no

    CSC Guide
CSC (which I think means Carrier Service Code) helps to set what options for settings show in the device for things like voicemail and wifi calling, as well as sets network code information for things like carrier aggregation combos.

When you go to your phone settings->about phone->software information and look in the Service Provider SW ver. section, you will see as the last line a combo like XXX/YYY/ZZZ. This indicates what carrier sales and network code is set and what brand the phone was manufactured as.

I think of the XXX/YYY/ZZZ configuration as follows
XXX=Sales Code-What kind of features are setup in the firmware like wifi calling, video calling and settings menus
YYY=Network Code-What kind of network features are set for things like carrier aggregation and LTE/5G bands
ZZZ=Manufactured as Code- What model the phone was originally manufactured as. Ot has no affect on the system settings or options. THIS CAN NOT CHANGE. IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE SAME. ONLY A ROOTED PHONE WOULD BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE FILES NECCESSARY TO CHANGE THIS.

For the Example of VZW/VZW/XAA, this would mean that the phone was sold as unlocked from Samsung and has a VZW SIM in it, setting the sales and network codes to VZW (XXX and YYY should usually be the same since you want the Network setup to match the settings setup in the phone, but they can be different, especially if you try to change the CSC in the U carrier branded firmware.)

    Changing CSC
*NOTE*Changing the CSC does not necessarily need the Google phone dialer like for the service menu, however, if you are on a CSC where the stock dialer does not provide you with the CSC change screen (Like when your code is XAA/XAA/XAA) you can attempt it through there and see if you can access it. I haven't been able to test this yet, so let me know.

First, go to settings->about phone and at the top you will see your IMEI. Press and hold on the IMEI number and you will get a popup saying copied to clipboard. Then, go to the phone dialer and dial:
    *#272*
After you see the numbers dialed at the top, press and hold after the last * and select paste then dial #. Again, you should never have to actually press the call button. A screen will auto pop. If it does not, try the Google dialer.

    *Pro Tip*
Since some CSCs do not allow dialing the IMEI (like the XAA CSC) I recommend after you get to this screen to first select the recent menus button on your phone and click on the CSC app icon in the mini view. But beware, this is not working in the One UI 3 beta!!

As you can see, mine is selected to VZW/VZW which is the XXX/YYY portion of the XXX/YYY/ZZZ combo (again, ZZZ should not change. Only having root can change this!)

You can now select a CSC and then click install at the bottom. This will reboot the phone and should not wipe any data.

    *Pro Tip*
At the bottom of the CSC screen, there is an option that says Don't change carrier(for DEV/QA). Well, you know how when you change the SIM on the U1 firmware, the phone detects and new SIM and reboots to apply the new carrier settings? You can choose this and select install and get a popup showing ENABLED and the phone won't reboot, allowing you to choose the CSC and keep it with whatever SIM is installed.

Just check the code on my N9810 BRI
This method only works on Qualcomm versions
I use *#*#276633683782#*#* on Google phone dialer
and it brings up a service mode screen.

Press [5] RF Test and choose [2] PREF MODE SET
(or other options also works )
It will show Please use *#2263# for mode set
Then just tap three dots on right top menu and choose back
It will bring you back to the main menu.

I happen to have quite a few Note 20 Ultras available for testing, including two that work (BL Unlocked, rooted SM-N9860-CHC and a SM-N986U1-XAA) as well as two that are disassembled (SM-N9860-TGY and SM-N986U1-TMB). If you have any hardware questions or tests you'd like me to run let me know and I should be able to make it happen.

P.S. Draiter is correct about the solder markings differentiating the variants but they are not actually bridging any pads to enable features but rather are just manufacturing markings to label which model phone the board is for. I can also vouch that there is more to bands than just software differences. The US SD models have MMWave antennas that the CHC/TGY/BRI models don't have. And as far as cross flashing CP modem files in odin I can confirm that the phones absolutely throw a fit when attempting to flash "incorrect" CP files. There's apparently a version check that occurs similar to BL files in that you can only upgrade modem versions and I learned the hard way that flashing a lower modem revision CP resulted in a phone that booted but would soon display a popup during setup saying "no IMEI/MEID found" followed by a hard shutoff and bootloop!

*#*#27663368378#*#* still works for me on TMO N20U (unlocked) after Android 11 update
but *#272*IMEI# doesn't bring up CSC menu which was available before Android 11 update.
Following code works to bring up CSC menu.
Dialed *#*#27262826#*#* on my unlocked Tmobile using google phone app

Here are some other options in service menu I have changed to improve performance. I have seen it not only help 5G, but LTE as well. I will update the guide soon with full instructions.
Hi, mellojosh. Great thread. Unfortunately the screen grabs you had in post #25 all disappeared during the forum migration. If there is any way that you can replace them that would be epic. Thanks. 👍
