UPDATE: All this time I had connected wrong ends to the computer.

Now that I have connected the right end it flashed fine and I now have HSPL installed. Thank you for this tutorial!

For those who have flashed HSPL with European Rom- do you see lower cellular signal? Able to flash ONLY stock at&t radio rom?

Quite a bit of activity has happened since I've been offline for a few days (moved to a new apartment, had to wait for the new modem to come by courier from my ISP).

Anyways, I'm glad that so far this guide has been working for several of you =)

I should address that not ALL SD cards and readers will work. My first SD I purchased did not work, nor did the multireader. However, I believe it's because the SD was HC, and I believe I've read somewhere that regular SDs that are 1-2gb are the best. As for USB drives, I've tried a handful of them and none of them worked.

Your best bet is to just stick with a 2gb SD card (mine was from Sony) and a single-card reader. The card reader was cheap and made by some off-brand company called Marco Polo. But it worked for me.

Thanks for the guide, I decided to give it a go today, and while the European gets downloaded (still 2 hours to go), I'm going carefully through the instructions.

One question I have is about the SPL. Mine is 4.6 currently. In your instructions (taken from Cotulla HSPL thread), there is a warning about "an issue about not updating to 4.xx.xxxx.xx roms". Does it mean I should maybe not do it with my device?

It's PI39110 by the way.

Ahh yes, the dreaded 4.xx.xxxx.xx rom warning. To my understanding, this warning is that if you try to install DFT's custom rom prior to downgrading with an official rom, you may or may not soft-brick your device.

That being said, if you want to be completely on the safe side about this, I would highly recommend you download the Cingular stock rom I've linked on the guide prior to installing the European stock rom. For all I know, I may be including an unnecessary step in this process...however, my rom version was already at 1.xx.xxxx.xx, thus I couldn't try to see if this step was needed or not.

If you're cautious at heart, I would just downgrade first to the Cingular rom, then the Euro rom. Or, if you have absolutely no fear in soft-bricking your device, you may try to directly downgrade to the Euro rom and skip the Cingular rom. If you do, please report your results and I'll gladly include them into the guide and credit you properly. However, do this at your own discretion. Good luck and happy flashing!

Thanks, process is ongoing (flashing European rom), without doing first the Cingular. Will report once all done.

No problem. And good luck again; I do hope it works out. If it does, you will know immediately by booting into SPL mode and seeing the changed rom number, as well as it displaying two more rows of text beneath it. If not, you reached a soft-brick. Also, to test that the European rom was installed, just boot up your phone; it should display the phone model I.D. as x310e and not x310a

Hi,

Went all fine without Cingular. I ended up installing a custom rom which works fine, thanks. Your guide needs an update regarding the steps to make a Gold card. The way it is now is wrong and misleading.

+ your description on the process of Gold Card differed for me in the sense that once the flash was over there was no reboot, only the same screen as during the flash, with a note saying the flash went successful. You might want to modify your statement and add that a manual reboot is necessary at that stage in order to check the current SPL.

Luckily I had done it before for my Mozart, so the process was somehow easy for me even without the proper instruction.

Interesting...in my experience, my phone did not require a manual reboot, it did it on its own.

I shall update the guide accordingly to your findings and make a note on that most likely a manual reboot is required. Thank you for your findings.

NBH files are the rom images. Please, if you are not familiar with these terms, please think very carefully about going through this process. This process is not for beginners whatsoever.

I'm not trying to attack you or anything about this, but if you didn't know what an .nbh file was, perhaps you should wait on this until an easier method on unlocking the Titan is released, just so you don't screw up anything with your phone! =)

Then you must have not properly read the instructions.

You need to download the correct European rom, which is HTC Eternity EU official rom 1.09.401.02 as listed in the instructions. Then, rename the rom name into 'ETERIMG.nbh' without quotation marks. After, place it onto the SD card prior to making it a gold card image. Then goldcard the SD, and apply the method onto your phone. If it still does not work, then I cannot really answer you what is going wrong, per se.

By the way, I made it a note in the instructions that installing the Cingular rom is no longer necessary...so please read the instructions one more time properly before attempting this.

As I made a note, this guide isn't guaranteed to work. It has worked for several people so far, including myself, but at the same time, there are people who reported that following the guide properly does not allow them to apply HSPL.

Make sure you downgraded your ATT Titan properly to a european rom, in order to debrand it via Goldcard method

Make sure you installed the custom 2.05 rom from DFT included in their download on their thread. Without it, you CANNOT gain HSPL at all.

Wont Go Past "Enter USB Host Mode"

I can not get past the "Enter USB Host Mode..." message, and its driving me bananas!

Setup: using a male to female, female 'USB Power/charging Y cable" purchased at Radio Shack
Male plugged into wall charger
Female 1 has the kingston micro USB reader with the card plugged directly into it
Female 2 has the Male USB to male micro USB plugged into my phone.

Ive tried both methods of Gold Card creation: 1) using goldcard tool, then copying ETERIMG.nbh to card
2) Copying ETERIMG.nbh to card, then using Goldcard tool

Ive also tried switching Phone from Female A to Female B, and goldcard from female B to Female A.

I'm thinking at this point (as I'm typing this plea for help, in fact) that the Y-Cable I purchased transfers only Power, not Data, which would be why its called a 'Power/Charging Y-Cable". Drat. One moment..

After plugging the Y-Cable with the goldcard attached directly into my computer, my suspicions are confirmed: I am an idiot.

I hope this post help anyone else who wasted 2 hours trying to use a POWER CHARGING Y-CABLE to transfer DATA. In a nutshell, it wont work. Wait for the real deal from Taiwan.

Looks like I'll have to wait on the Y-Cable I ordered from E-Bay after all. Cursed 2-week shipping from Taiwan....:crying:

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune! However, your trial and error provides valuable insight on why so many people are having issues with attempting the goldcard method.

Seeing that you've already ordered your new cable, I guess it would be a moot point to offer you an alternative route on making your own cable as I did. All the same, I wish you luck once you receive your cable. If I were you, I'd spread the word on other threads that refer to the gold card method + y usb cable; this way, people can see if their error was in purchasing the wrong cable. Good job on this accidental find, even if it was at your own expense.

This worked perfectly for me after getting a Dynex MicroSD/SD reader @ Best Buy. I was using a Sony SD reader that didn't work (maybe because its SD + Memory Stick), but trying the Dynex worked.

I had a few little niggles. After the flashes were done off the goldcard, it did not reboot at all. Just said "Update Completed" and sat there. I had to manually reboot. Also, after flashing the DFT SPL, the versions did not change after the first reboot. I had to then reboot into the OS, then reboot into SPL for the new 2.5.xxx.xxx version to show. Then the HSPL worked fine, except I had to RE-Flash the DFT bootloader to get it to boot into the OS again.

After that, in order to flash any other ROM, I couldn't use RUU, as it just simply wouldn't connect. I had to rename the new ROM (in this case the Nokia modded one) to ETERIMG and redo the goldcard flash again. In the end, it worked out fine. Thanks for the tips and your hard work!
