[GUIDE] Step-by-step instructions for debranding and HSPL for AT&T Titans

There's a reason why all these folks have their disclaimer about bricking your device, and after my experience with my Titan, its sound advice! That said...you're not bricked if you have a SPL. This whole debrand and downgrade of your SPL is at best; luck and at least, check the screws around your head and make sure their tight. I'm going to say this once and once only to those of you who take the plunge...my device is an AT&T HTC Titan I aka HTC Eternity; it hardware model x310a. It is not hardware model x310e. I bought my device interop/developer unlocked and like a few of you who are well aware of this and I didn't at the time, it's not too hard to relock the device. I mean it's one thing to deliberately and knowingly return it to stock for repair but the same process that HSPL's your device can also OSPL your device too. There are two ROMs that will get the debrand job done; one is a US ROM, Cingular 1.10 and the other is a European ROM, Eternity 1.09. Now...for all you Europeans, I can't speak for whether AT&T is in your backyard. The single biggest problem I had was the use of my microSD memory card; it played nice for my wife's HSPL, but mine, forget it; Plan B...I read that the PNY thumb drives work, so I took the data off one of my thumb drives, reformatted as per instructions and the darn thing worked. Everything I read said to debrand which means run one of these ROMs but my SPL never read 1.09 or 1.10...it read just like all those who continue to be aggravated 2.5.160015.3 and I took the extra step of allowing the ROM to install to my device and made sure the model number via software read HTC Titan I x310e...you can find that in your settings and about along with a ton of other info like your SPL and ROM and memory in black and white. I do not know whether you need to allow your device to install the ROM before taking the plunge with the SPL205 ROM that must be flashed via Gold Card. It is the only thing I can think of that may make a difference in regards to what y'all may be doing different...I allowed the Eternity ROM to load and install apps and then I proceeded to Step 2...I didn't think that was important before and it may not help any of you..but where the trouble others are having is Step 3...and that has to be done via your computer and in bootloader mode and you're going to know one way or the other pretty quickly because once you run DFT HSPL it takes seconds and either you have it or you don't. It appears based on what others are saying, the debrand to x310e in my case; that's the easy part...but it wasn't. I flashed over and over and over and it took every time but that was using the Cingular 1.09 ROM that I installed on my wife's device; her's took and mine, it read PI39100...which what worked on her device didn't on mine. I quit counting how many times I flashed it and then after my microSD wouldn't play nice I made the switch and like all of you...same issues. NuttyBuddy replied telling me to use ETERDIAG and not ETERIMG...I made the switch to the PNY thumb drive at the same time...it went off without a hitch. The bottom line is, you're going to have to experiment, figure out what works for you and you still might get frustrated; it's not a perfect solution; it took me 4 nights in a row staying up to figure out the right combination and HSPL my device. It doesn't imply the same steps will work for you, the steps are provided to assist you and if necessary formulate your own Plan B. Take care!

Learn to read, mybe ur drunk, man said his device is x310a as all at&t titans, he debranded and then it became x310e i managed to that but restof proces isnt working for me, so read all and then spam!

I appreciate your efforts; I really, really do. My last post isn't aimed at you. I have tried and tried to figure out what is different about your device other than location. It begs the question why would someone living in Europe, Serbia, Asia, etc need to debrand their phone in the first place?

Little problem with my titan

friends and create my gold card install remote loading I get says other things restarts and returns to be in USB mode and does nothing but reboot and I get so spl is spl 2.5 but the problem is when q command to install the HSPL q tells me is installed perfectly but when it restart and put it in mode q spl again tells me this HSPL installed 2.5 but does not tell me anything under no bone or serial or uSB aparese and connect to the pc and not reconose someone this happened to you ..?

Same for me please let me know if you are successful in putting hspl and if you have tips for me thanks

My bad !!! there is no nbh file for HSPL. If you do this Guide step by step. you will see there is two time to rename a .nbh file.
de branding and 2.05 SPL and when you have your phone at the 2.05 SPL it's time to run DFT_HSPL application as administrator.
This Guide is well written so please do every thing step by step.

And if not for NuddyBuddy's advice on changing the filename I would not have been able to successfully HSPL. When the file name is changed it is "ETERDIAG" and nothing more; that is type these 8 characters and that's it. For what it's worth I was stuck on that SPL for the longest time before I came at it from scratch turkey the 4th night.

Please thank NuttyBuddy for the ETERDIAG; I was stumped just like all the rest of you. Once your device is reading as a "x310e" here are the steps I did next.

1. Download and unzip the DFT files, there will be two folders - Omega and Titan. It is the Titan folder you want. In it there two folders, they are SPL205 and DFT HSPL.

2. Do not reformat the Gold Card; delete the ROM you just a moment ago successfully flashed on your device.

3. Open SPL205 and seek out the flash file; it's 24 megs. Rename the flash file to ETERDIAG; 8 characters, all caps. Copy the file to your Gold Card. Reboot your device once again in USB Host Mode.

4. This is really, really important...once you plug your Y-cable into your device it will read "Radio - OK" and the moment it proceeds to Bootloader, your device will automatically restart and re-enter USB Host mode on its own. Once again it will repeat reading "Radio - OK", "Bootloader - OK" but before it does it is likely to take its sweet sweet time doing it. It is here I just about gave my device up for dead. I waited and I waited and finally while in the middle of asking NuttyBuddy the same questions many of you are asking...a solid 15 minutes later, the device came to life and flashed the SPL. This step is critical.

5. If your device after testing your patience reads "Radio - OK" "Bootloader - OK" your SPL will continue to read 2.5.160013.5 (137079).

6. Disconnect the Y-cable from your device and restart the phone and return it to bootloader mode.

7. Open Zune (my version is 4.8.2345.0), my PC version of Windows is 8 Professional.

8. Plug your device to your computer; it must read USB at the bottom-center of the bootloader screen.

9. Open the DFT HSPL folder, right click the application file, run as administrator; the program will immediately identify the device; there will be a tab...a window that will read HSPL and OSPL; HSPL is what you want and after clicking it and seconds later the deed is done and your device without restarting should read HSPL and CottulaH; the 2.5.160015.3(137079) will not change; the letter H will appear in front of "SPL" and "Touch" will be replaced with "CotullaH"

When i finish to upload european with ETERDIAG trick ( thanks NuttyBuddy ) rom and see x310e to the ititial setup, ( so i'm sure that sd card and y Cable is ok ).
I search and rename the flash file to ETERDIAG and i Copy it to my Gold Card without re-format it.
Connect sd reader to y cable to one female usb and the other to my device and reboot device in USB Host Mode and connect male y cable side to back usb port of Computer and it start loading...
Well, IN ONLY HALF SECOND i can see just ONLY ONE sigle yellow caps (the same that i see when I installed the EU rom) and immediately device self restart and come back to usb mode and go ahead with other yellow signs but at most 10/12 signs and after i can read ETERDIAG - ok RADIO-OK Success etc .. It makes me understand that everything has been properly executed but don't spend 15 minutes but all this happens within just 2 minutes. ( i know that it's wrong but This is what happens )
After i disconnect Y cable and restart device to bootloader and i see inside 2.5.160013.5 (137079) ..
Connect device with normal usb cable to computer and in administrator mode, with zune open, start HSPL program and after having found my device makes me choose between HSPL or OSPL ..
After choosing the first selection (HSPL) click on start and about 6/8 seconds makes me understand that everything is ok and I can use my device in HSPL but NO HSPL IS INSIDE MY DEVICE GRRR

this is my experience and I think I will keep this test because I'm disappointed
I tried to do and redo many actions many timesi'm very tired is about 6 days I'm going crazy and I am very disappointed but i want say LOT OF THANKS to all of you for the energy you spend to get this change in my device

my second device is an iphone 5 and i hack it with redsn0w ( tethering jailbreak ) i can't belive that i can't use my titan with custom rom !! i sell it tomorrow SIGH !

When I flashed the SPL205 file, the device restarted itself and re-entered USB Host mode...I don't remember it having any of these yellow symbols. While I was enjoying my 4 days of fun and pulling my hair out...the issues I had were always the memory cards. It took me four days before I gave up using the microSD and going strictly with the thumb drive. I got the impression that the issue with all of this boils down to the device reading the Gold Card. There are those who swear my the microSD and myself, once I got fet up with that and made the switch to the thumb drive; it wasn't perfect but it was pure luck...I mean I wrote this process off and the display timed out, display turned off and like I've said several times; the screen came back up with bootloader and radio were ok and I held my breath and ran the HSPL and I was done. I don't know what else I can tell you other than experiment with differing thumb drives and/or micro SD cards. I realize this process is not perfect and it is obvious as many have posted; the process differs from one user to the next. I wish I had a spare Titan running around the house to give this another try. Over the past couple of weeks (as of this typing) eBay has had a couple of Titans with the Dynamic WP7.8 ROMs, so that's an option if you're dead serious about the device. I understand and sympathize with your frustration; I really, really do. You take care!

that file doesn't flash on my phone. It works fine with both 1.09 Europe and the 1.10 Cingular though.
Unfortunately, some of us have the most stubborn phone.

Ok, check out my entire process and my result for my HTC TITAN (ATT) which has been stuck on the 2.05 MFG since DFT released HSPL file.

1. Debrand successfully using 1.09 europe file.
2. Flash DFT MFG SPL 2.05 successfully

NuttyBuddy; the thumb drive I successfully Gold Card is a PNY 4GB; it's the two (red/blue) pack you buy at Wal-Mart. I tried using my PNY 8GB and 16GB drives and struck out with them; I believe the bigger the drives, the longer it will take for your device to read the darn thing despite the small size of the Gold Card; the smaller the thumb drive the faster this entire process was.

While I have you let me ask you a question...when I sync my device (bootloader mode) to the PC both Zune and WMDC open but I do nothing with WMDC; it simply pops up and that's it. Questions I'm being popped are folks who can't seem to sync their devices in bootloader mode to their PC and Zune won't see the device; I've had that problem on more than a few occasions but I took the time which each flash failed or successful to rename the device when Zune was open and made sure I married my zune username and sync to that device. I'm at a lost to explain why their devices won't sync while in bootloader. Thanks!
