Earlier in the thread someone said to use Universal Androot and then someone else said that it wouldn't work on 2.2. I use it all the time and I am on Khal's Epicbluesteel 2.2 ROM. It is very convenient when say you have to take your phone into the carrier. I have unrooted with it, deleted the Superuser.apk, taken my phone in and once done, I re-rooted in the parking lot. I used it on 2.1 the first day I got my phone. In fact I have never used Superoneclick.

All of the custom ROMs are already rooted? UniversalAndroot shouldn't work if you start from a stock 2.2.1 (the only stock one we have is the Motoroi 2.2.1). Anyway, I've never tried unrooting a 2.2.1 ROM and then using UniversalAndroot, have you tried that? After flashing the Korean sbf I've always used the same exploit used in SuperOneClick (manually though), because UniversalAndroot wasn't supposed to work on 2.2.1, but now that I'm thinking about it, if it's a kernel exploit it possibly does still work there because Motorola shipped Motoroi's 2.2.1 with eclair's kernel...

Yep, worked for me. Had to do it once or twice while on Kahl's personared and then on Epicbluesteel. Was able to unroot, fix the problem (ie CBW issues) and then reroot with it. Maybe my phone is an anomoly and I should try cm7.
