Can someone change the title of this thread to "How to Brick your Lenovo P2" ?

I think that after 4 or 5 reports of "bricked devices" the guide is no longer valid...

don't use this, doesn't work !!! after update on nougat i want to root it with this method and phone stuck in bootloop with permanent blue led !
EDIT :

after long searching i have found solution for this case. i have found whole OTA nougat update and after download i have flashed boot image(only) and phone is started again.after that i try this solution for root and it works !

what i can see with new update is that battery life much better is !
Can you share the boot.img you used? I tried 3 different ones with same result.. Blue led.

Thank you in advance

So, no root for 7.0 available, right?
Not sure for others... but TWRP keeps freezing and then rebooting.

I even tried to flash back with this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...eodexed-stock-rom-p2a42s062170117row-t3574881 and it crashes 1/2 way through...

Maybe my phone??

**********WORKING FOR ME ***************
After i don't k now how many attempts with everything mentioned on XDA ,with blue led and stuck on "dots" screen, I finally managed to get root on my phone. on 7.0 OTA from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/7-0-lenovo-p2a42-stock-nougat-update-t3581517

Please note hat I wiped my phone several times....

Not sure if anyone is interested so I'm not going to "waste" my Saturday afternoon writing about it... as it is a bit long and as it was maybe just my phone..

If anyone is still messing around with blue led and stuck screens and willing to loose their data, let me know..

Did not root the stock Nougat. I used the 2.79sr3 SuperSU and now it's rooted. With TWRP 3.1.0.0
:good:

I have stock rooted now... not as happy as I should be as apps like lightflow (led control) still do not work... this was actually the main reason for rooting! took me bloody 14 +5 days to root the thing with many wipes!!

Finally, I have root with SuperSU on Android 7.

My steps:
- Backup, backup, backup.
- Upgraded TWRP to 3.1.0.0 from 3.0.3.0.
- Downloaded the TWRP flashable zip of Android 7 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/7-0-lenovo-p2a42-stock-nougat-update-t3581517 on laptop.
- Booted into recovery.
- Did a wipe: cache, dalvik/art cache, system, data
- Pushed the zip file with adb push to /data
- Installed the zip file with TWRP
- Rebooted, and finished the Android installation.
- Downloaded SuperSU recovery zip from supersu.com
- Rebooted to recovery, installed zip! All done.

If you have the blue led light or if the gets stuck in the boot, use the unsu script to undo the supersu zip.

P2c72 with Android N and Galileo satellites

Worked P2a42 and P2c72
Now having installed Nougat on P2c72 can you see Galileo satellites? (According to official lists of chipsets on usegalileo.eu you should, however theory and reality do not always walk the same path...)

Hi,

Since every attempt (either with this method or supersu) would always get stuck at rewriting the boot.img (with blue led or stuck at "dots"), I have replaced my boot.img (with fastboot) with the one from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...eodexed-stock-rom-p2a42s062170117row-t3574881

Ather that, this method worked... my guess is that supersu method also works.

If I can recall, I replaced it after the 7.0 OTA update, then followed instructions on post 1.
