I m new to the recovery thing, I installed recovery on my phone for the first time, on Kitkat I didn't have recovery. AFAIK For the first time u have to install the recovery through PC i guess, for further updates NUTS give two option eitheR through PC or though the already installed Recovery!!

Thank you edwuard for a wonderful and easy guide.

What's the safest way to install a custom recovery on Lollipop 5.0.2? I want to try custom roms without actually unlocking the bootloader.

Many thanks

Édit: I tried v17, v18 and v20 no problem with my custom rom or with stock before install [emoji12]

Finally got it!

Hmm , tried for hours. Finally found out what was wrong with the post.

1. type in small caps.
2. Just type "su" then enter. Then type "allow root". Not "Allow root permission"
3. The post failed to mention- unzip the contents on your PC first then move them to the root folder of your phone.
4. Just ignore the "replacing" comment. There's no replacing going on.

Yeah, so with these 4 things in mind, you're all set to go.
