GREAT guide, I got my device apart and can FINALLY replace the glass and the LCD, if needed.

Here's my question...How do I get the ribbon for the capitive buttons out of the frame for the glass? It doesn't seem to just slide through.
Alas, this is where I'm stuck.

I hope this isn't too old of a forum.

Be more careful than me :laugh: I got a new screen for mine and everything went fine. I even managed to take the side covers off without any visible damage to them. But I ripped the cable for the menue control button trying to get them out. My new screen came without the buttons (sucks). So now I am trying to find new buttons. If anybody has a broken streak and wants to get rid of the buttons for some jump change, let me know. If anybody know where to get one, let me know.
I called dell, but it was pretty useless. They sell me a full LCD screen assembly for over $100

Hey guys, I followed the guide exactly (plus taking out the entire freaking motherboard and connecting parts) then it back together (in case you were wondering, I was attempting to replace the internal sd memory and, like a moron, thought the internal sd memory was the same as external :silly:) and tested it and the display is not working. The capacitive buttons and the touchscreen aspect works along with the actual computer itself is working fine based on the vibrations i feel from touching and swiping it while its on.m there is no visible damage to the display cable. Do you know how I can fix it?

Your welcome. Harsh reality sucks. I tell the truth and I don't do it nicely.

As one who has torn these apart and put them back together, you are 99.99% screwed. Welcome to the Dell Streak 7.

Well there's the .01% part where im not screwed, so do you think, theoretically, I could replace the display cable and have it work again? I know based on my observations nothing else is broken (besides the stupid read only bug).

Are you SURE, its not broken, have you got a microscope and inspected every write and connector point on the entire board? Anything could result it in breaking.

I'm quite sure, I carefully examined it before and after and it remains the same. I know I bent the cable, and being how flimsy it is, I wouldn't doubt I might have broken some of the paper-thin copper in it. I turned on the tablet and played a game on it blind and I can assure you the computer part itself is not broken.

I am just saying that if it doesn't turn on, something is broken, we don't have any repair manuals or motherboard diagrams, so no way to tell what is going on.

Let me rephrase something from my last post. I examined everything that was possible to be examined to make sure. I could have broken the connector point for the display on the inside (though i doubt it, I was extremely careful taking it out), or i could have destroyed something on the display cable.

Dell streak 7 sata port?

I recently took my dell streak 7 apart and I mean recently (it is still in pieces) I noticed it has a spot on it for a sata port to be soldered on to it. I counted the pins for data and power.. They are identical to a sata hard drive. Any ideas?

Where are you refering to that?
I've taken extensive photos of the board and don't see that.

He could be confused by the micro PCI-E port that is used for the modem.

micro PCI-E is electrically compatable with mSATA and has the same pin layout, though I dont believe that mSATA is 1-1 compatable with normal SATA.

As an aside, the modem isnt actually PCI-E, it's usb since the mPCI-E port provides both usb and PCI-E links, if you plug your modem into a laptop you can verify that it isnt using the PCI-E bus.

Screen Code

Welp, I'm trying to replace a screen digitizer, the gorilla glass, and though tI'd share the code on the back of the actual LCD.
LMS700KF23-002.
Below this is 6AACABG19073 (to the left of this is "C0K16")

EUREKA!! IT'S ALIVE!!!

Thanks to this posting I have fixed a Dell Streak 7, using one for parts.
One thing I'd like to add: The "softkeys" strip is attached to the LCD, and there's a bit of plastic from the screen that is surrounding it. You will need to cut this so you can fully detach the LCD. This doesn't cause any issues with the case.

I'm stoked now!

Update: While it works, the left side is slightly dimmer than the left. I'll live with it.
