n the settings application of your tablet, go to the "Developer options" tab near the bottom. Ensure that the switch in the top right corner is in the "ON" position, then under the "Debugging" header, enable "Android debugging". Read the following carefully before you continue: Shut down your tablet and connect your USB cable. Hold the power and volume down buttons at the same time. Keep holding until you see a menu. The menu will consist of a few items, among them there is "RCK", a USB icon, an Android icon, and a "Wipe Data" icon. Tap volume down until the USB icon is selected, then press volume up. Cross your fingers and hope drivers install automatically.

They probably won't, so have windows look in the \android-sdk\extras\ folder. It should say the drivers installed successfully. Either way, open the start menu, and right click on "Computer". Click "Manage", then in the left hand pane of the new window, click "Device Manager". The "Other Devices" section may be already expanded in the center pane. If it is, look to see if "Fastboot" appears in that section with a yellow exclamation mark.

If it isn't there, you shouldn't be worried-- check for a section called "Android Phone" or "Portable Devices". Look for a device called "Android ADB Interface" or "Fastboot". It shouldn't have a yellow exclamation mark next to it.

In the event you have the device appearing with a yellow exclamation mark next to it, go HERE and download PdaNet. This was my remedy for this error. Unplug your TF300T from your computer and install PdaNet following instructions. During the install a warning will appear to install unsigned drivers. Install the driver anyway, and let the installation finish. You can now plug your TF300T back in, and it should be recognized automatically. Just in case, hold the volume down and power buttons again until your tablet restarts and you see your hidden menu again. Once again, tap volume down until the USB icon is selected, then press volume up again to select it. Check the Device Manager again and you should find the "Android Phone" section at the top. Within it, you'll find a device called "Android ADB Interface
Hi guys, ok during this step, what I'm getting in Device Manager is 'Asus Fastboot Interface' under 'SAMSUNG Android Phone'

Is that ok, or is that a problem?

Edit: It's working :), you can test if fastboot works by giving command

fastboot devices
and it will return all fastboot devices connected.

It was an Asus server problem, I think. Today it worked for few of us.
Mine still doesnt unlock, same error MSG all the time ...

I finally managed to contact asus since they added the "missing" Serial of my device to their database. Asus already answered and requested the device´s MAC Adress and copy of the warranty card. I guess some devices just cant be unlocked because they´re not listed in their unlock server. Im sure they also blacklist my device - once unlocked - in their warranty management system.

I´ll keep you guys up to date, hopefully i´ll recieve a info soon...

Anxiously waiting for updated guide

Hey andoryuu3,

Thanks for the guide! About 3 weeks ago you said you were going to be updating your guide to reflect some of the suggested changes. Many of us have been anxiously waiting... do you know when you will be ready to post update? There have been so many suggestions made here - I would feel better having a step-by-step guide to make sure I do this right the first time. Thank you for your help! I can't find anything else as comprehensive and noob-proof on the web!

In first time

Download and install "Android SDk" in your computer

Make sur you have the last update in your device (4.1.1, 10.4.2.18)

Download all the needed file (twrp or cwm , rom, gapps)
Download any md5 checker in your PC for check file you have to flash

I use on my tablet this app

Now, you can go to the other Step
Learn to start fastboot in your device
Copy the good file at the good place

And Learn to copy / paste the fastboot command

Where are the worst Step in the guide for you???

Good luck, and for me this guide have one problem

The root file
But If you want to flash any custom rom
You don't need any root file

Ok so i have unlocked my device, installed SDK and asus drivers(several times).

ADB commands work fine, but my computer will not recognize the tablet in fastboot. I go into fastboot, and the "download protical" message appears. I plug it in and then windows gives a message about the not being able to recognize the device. It just shows up as "unknown device" in the manager. It will not respond to any fastboot commands. I cannot flash a recovery.

I have tried directing it to drivers, but nothing seems to work.

Someone please help me see what i am missing. I have been trying for hours :(

Ok so i finally got it with my laptop. For some reason, my desktop will not load the driver. The laptop did and recognized it as asus bootloader interface or something.

Is there anyway to get my desktop to recognize it?

maybe a faulty usb port

or you need to reset/reinstal windows

for me the best way to flash when we use fastboot or adb is ubuntu on a second hdd/partition (20go for me)

Re: [GUIDE] TF300T Unlock/Root/Flash for Factory JB Devices (newbie friendly)

Is it still impossible to root tf300t without unlocking?
If you're on JB, yes. Unlocking is the only way to get root access (after flashing a recovery), for the moment.

Try twrp.

www.mediafire.com/?7v1gwbbzqzvzto7 <- fastboot and twrp, the twrp is out dated so if you want you can download new one from twrp website.
2)Extract the recovery with fastboot files zip and open a command prompt in the same folder of the adb and fastboot files (you must click the fastboot and adb when extracred and i suggest you put your extracted fastboot and recovery zip in C:\(foldername) and then open cmd)
3) Reboot into the bootloader of your tablet, type: adb reboot bootloader
4) When your tablet has reached the bootloader navigate with volume down to the usb icon and press volume up to confirm.
5) To flash the recovery type:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery tf300t-jb.blob

Bump, this might still be useful for some people.

Bricked after install

I installed the "baked_tf300t_blackbean-6_jb-bl_b6.zip" and "gappsinverted-jb-20121029-signed.zip" files per the instructions and now when I power up my TF300T, it just hangs at the "Baked" screen. It's been this way for over an hour now.

For some reason ,I tried to do it all over again, I booted into USB mode and sent the command "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery recovery.img" and "fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot" again. I got no errors, but now when I "Vol-Down and Power" boot, wait 5 seconds and then select "RCK, it just hangs. I see the line that says "Booting Recovery Kernel Image", but nothing else.

Now I cannot get into CWM and I cannot get past the "Baked" screen either.

I am bricked.

Help please!!

Still recommend cwm? How about teamwin? Getting ready to flash this new tablet but debating on which recovery to use!

ok, got unlocked and twrp flashed made backup and was ready to flash other than needing to put a copy of the backup on my windows xp machine and to put the roms i downloaded onto the asus. I can't take stuff off with the pc or put stuff on the tablet with the pc. The pc see all the files but won't transfer files with the tablet
