help please

I have rog phone 2 with tencent edition current running on WW firmware with CN fingerprint.
Currently my device run on: WW_Phone-user9PKQ1.1904141.00116.0631.1910.44-0release-keys
fingerprint running on: asus/CN_I001D
Lately I found out that there is new firmware version with Android 10 but my device couldn't any OTA.
Can you please help to guide me to update my phone firmware?
Should I change the fingerprint version to WW and then update my phone firmware?
and how can I change the fingerprint version to WW?
Thank you so much for your help

I have the tencent version and both my product id and fingerprint show ww yet when I downloade the update file from Asus and reboot I get the update file notification but when I try to install it fails. Any suggestions?
I figured out my specific problem. I had to install every previous update leading up to 10 before I could install 10. I downloaded them from the Asus website one by one and installed them until I got to 10

My phone already has WW fingerprint. Does that mean I can just download the Android 10 update directly from Asus and install it without rooting my phone?
Yes you can you just have to pull the manual update. ( Download the file and move it from download to the internal storage)

You have to change first the fingerprint, relock and then update it to the last A9 or to A10. The A10 has some issues and can't pass the Safety Net and the battery is terrible.

If you don't have to change the Fingerprint to WW and you don't want lo unlock and re-lock de boatloader you just have to update to last firmware manually, just download the last firmware from the official site and then paste it on the Internal Storage to pull the "update available". As soon as you copy to the Internal Storage is better to reboot the phone otherwise the phone can't run the update.

If you update your phone and then try to unlock the boatloader you're going to "soft brick" your phone it will say "Slot _a is unbootable" and you have to flash the Raw ROM once again to "unbrick" and then have to unlock the boatloader in order to change the Fingerprint. My advice will be: unlock the boatloader, magisk+Root, then change the Fingerprint and then lock it again. Then you can update manually to the latest WW firmware.

Regards
I got this msg
"slot _a is unbootable"
how can I unbrick it?
how to flash the raw rom with bootloader locked? theres anyway to unlock it without phone working?

It happened the same thing to me. You have to Flash the raw rom and start over again.

You have to move it to the internal storage and then reboot the phone because if you try to do it without rebooting the phone it will say failed.

Yeah.. downgrade to A9 v35, after v64, after A10... etc. Step by step

I did the same than the mate above: reinstall with RAW (fastboot way). If you can not, try with the v35 (Android 9). It worked for me. After that, just scale updating.

So I came here just like all of us because I had a Tencent branded phone but with an International rom. I tried updating earlier to Android 10 but I got the update failed messaged so after a bit of googling I found out that the reason for that is usually because the seller installs a WW rom but doesn't change the fingerprint of the device preventing it to make the update, manually or not. So I did the whole procedure here, even updated a couple of versions forward because your raw file was more recent than mine. But when I went to change the country from CN to WW, the file there was already in WW, meaning that fingerprint was never the issue.

So what's next? Give up on official updates and just do it completely manually, or is there's something I am missing? From what I understand the phone being rooted or with an open bootloader doesn't affect the ability to update using official files. I checked my device with the device id HW (whatever the app is called) and everything shows that I now have a fully WW rom and fingerprint.

If I recall correctly you need to be unrooted with original boot img before you can update to 10. I might be wrong tho

I rushed here to tell you that it seems to work with the Android 9 files, so yeah, I might try unrooting and closing the bootloader and try again.

Update: After installing the latest official Android 9 version 1606.31 from their site it allowed me to install Android 10. So if anyone has the same issue as me I would recommend trying the same thing. Do what the guide says just to be sure, and if the problem insists, install the final A9 version and then A10.

Install Google USB Drivers in your PC via Android SDK and reflash v35 (Android 9). Later, continue updating the phone to A10 (I think you can do it directly) via Fastboot: download the RAW version of the OS you wanna install (v35 in this case), extract the RAW .zip wherever you want. Once extracted and Google USB Drivers installed, launch your Asus in Fastboot mode ('vol +' + 'power button') andconnect your phone by USB cable. Then, double click on flashall_AFT.cmd (or something like that)

I would recommend to make a clean flash among updates

I said above that what worked for me was updating with the official update downloaded from Asus for the final version of Android 9 and then I installed Android 10 just fine. Even when I flashed the RAW file of the same A9 version it wouldn't install A10.

i think something is wrong with the boot.img. i have unlocked my bootloader and flashed 191035 but when I go to rootbootimg, the command prompt tells me there are no files matching that. i unzip the boot files into adb folder. also, the boot files don't have .img in the name. just rootww191035. please help.

Nevermind. I'm an idiot. Figured it out. Thanks OP!!

Root worked great for the longest time (android 9), but my friend erased the "Messages" app from the phone and now it is bootlooped, I tried to connect it with the usb to install the app via ADB but the device doesn't show on the computer. There is also no TWRP, so im kind of stuck. Any suggestions? I wouldn't like to loose the data, and at this point im not even sure if a factory reset will break it even more...

Please help.

Hi everyone, I am new to the ROG Phone 2. Got my hands on a pre-owned Tencent Edition. Could someone please tell me how the WW ROM is better than the CN counterpart?

From what I have read online, it's a great solution for those who purchased CN edition from the grey market or imported it. But when it comes down to general users, what benefit(s) does it hold?

Hi everyone.

I bought a second-hand ROG Phone 2 off eBay. It's the Tencent version, but already has both the WW ROM and fingerprint. Version 1906. I would like to update to Android 10, but my PC refuses to recognise the phone in fastboot mode, even though I have installed the correct ADB drivers. Can anyone help me with this?
