i get it rooted, im not going back!!!! for what???? and i found root for a lot of other phones on baidu!!!!!It is the same with 16th, and it does not work for me also. I tried without any luck on 16th, 17 and 18X. Only in 18X I was able to get a working root, but there's no way back. Even a full reset by reflashing stock did do the job unrooting the phone. So carefully try at your own risk and be warned, this is not a trivial hack like on a Samsung Galaxy S4...
But this thread is primarly for the 16-series, isn't it? If you have a solution for unlocking these also, it'd be very kind to share...
They are all odm model. This method is supposed to work according to this forum. I have loved meizu their phones are different and they stand out from any other phone Yes they're operating systems are trash but that's where we come in.

Isn't there a website I got to go back and find it that you can send the d e v i f o image and or the FRP image? You can paste it on this website and somebody does it without paying anything if I find it again I'll post it here I promise
No website, you can try the instructions. I don't have an ODM device. (And my OEM device got broken last year.) So my information is outdated. (I haven't pay attention to this field for about two or three years. You'd better on your own now, since messages from my side may be misleading.

Thank u!!! I went on to Baidu, and found their way of rooting any of the x series models for meizu. And they're saying either the devino. Img or frp. Img is what u have to mod. I'm. Going after the 18x myself. It says that the same method will work only for odm models. And their videos of people doing it on billibilli, I guess Oriental YouTube

There seems to exist a new method: It is said to work on Qualcomm devices.
First, dump frp partion, then edit the value to 1 at 7fff0, finally, flash the modified frp image. then you can use fastboot command to unlock your phone.
This new method shall work for for ODM devices like 16T, 16x, 16xs and Note9 and so on. see FRP Method.

You can try it yourself. I think it should work. I mentioned 16xs in the chinese version tutorial, but 16x in the English ver.?1
You have to use the firmware ( Rom for unbricking ) provided in the tutorial.1
You can use prog_firehose_ddr.elf instead. When you unlock your phone, you will be able to flash TWRP, then flash the global ROM. you will stay unlocked until you lock it manually.
BTW, for 16xs you should use the FRP method, which means you do not need the firmware? You can try it directly or flash to chinese version then try this method.
