Hi all!
I just wanted to say that it worked for me! I went straight to the fastboot PG58DIAG.nbh method thinggy and it worked like a charm! :)

I did however think it was not going to work, as when I clicked on the clear thing 1 of the lines came up in red saying not found SD something or another, so I kept selecting clear for 3 more times, then pulled the battery, re-inserted it again & booted up, I also thought it had not worked as it did not wipe any data, but I put in my Fiancee's Orange sim (I'm on O2, phone is a HTC Sensation XE with S-OFF, Customed ICS & was locked on O2 before the process) and it worked perfectly without anything being wiped!

Thanks again for your awesome work! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

what a bloody awesome guide!

pity it didnt work for me.. i went through everything.. I had a sim locked unrooted stock Sensation Z710e.

I S-Off'd
Put on Custom Recovery
SuperCID'd
Permanent Rooted
Then ran through Method 2 without issue.

Though for some reason my phone still wont work with an Optus SIM here in Australia. Works fine with a Telstra one though.

I spose my last option is to put on a custom rom.. lol :)

Damn it..

Not sure if my phone is sim locked or something else is going on now.

Hello world,

Is there by chance any of this method working on a Htc One V? It is not totally locked, only Orange sim cards are not working. The phone is not rooted because I want to be sure that I'll have a 100% method to fully unlock before rooting it mainly because I was thinking about going back to service with it to let the guys there do the trick.

Do you think that I came here just to ask something without searching? On one V forum no one reported as working so I don't believe i made myself clear: my phone is only 1 day old and I want a 100% working method because then I'll root my phone and try it. If i don't find a good method, I'll give it to service center. It's that simple. No need to be erratic. Cheers

Worked beautifully! :D

The only question mark for me was leaving DIAG mode - only way was to power down the phone - some extensive Noobs might get stuck there, thinking "what do I do now, will I brick my phone by powering down?"

Big THANK YOU for all involved in working this out!

SIM/Carrier Unlock on a 1.2x (ICS) Hboot

xl VipeR lx please link to this post in the OP.

The PG58GIAG file cannot be used on a 1.2x Hboot.
This is most likely because of the change in partitions in the newer Hboots.
For method 2 to work, you need a GB Hboot i.e Hboot ≤1.18.

NOTE:
  • This method will erase your phone's data (apps, settings, sms, etc.) !
Make a Nandroid backup from recovery before doing this & restore the backup later if you don't want to lose your data.
  • This process is permanent, & non reversible.
  • Your CID will be changed to 11111111 & MID will be changed to PG58*****

So for anyone on a 1.2x Hboot looking to Carrier Unlock by clearing S-58 data, here's what you do:
  • Download the 1.17 firmware for your device from the User Friendly Firmware thread.
  • Follow the instructions in the thread to flash the firmware.
  • Remove the SD Card & get rid of the PG58IMG.zip & put this PG58DIAG.nbh [Mirrors at the end of the post] on your SD Card. (You need to use a card reader or use the method at the end of the post)
  • Reboot to the bootloader & clear S-58 data by selecting appropriate options.
  • Once data has been wiped, pull out the battery to power off the phone & exit from the diag.
  • Remove the SD Card & get rid of the PG58IMG.zip. (You need to use a card reader or use the method at the end of the post)
  • Download the 3.32 firmware for your device from the User Friendly Firmware thread.
  • Follow the instructions in the thread to flash the firmware.

It is possible to do this without a card reader.
  • Once the PG58IMG.zip is flashed, remove the SD Card.
  • Pull out the battery & reinsert it.
  • Hold vol dow & power
  • Select Recovery
  • Put the SD Card in
  • mount /sdcard
  • Then use the toggle USB storage option to mount as a disk drive.

Hope this helps.

It already worked for an HTC Sensation from Mexico, with Iusacell carrier. Tested it with SIM from Telcel carrier.

Thanks for good guide.

Is it possible to do this without a card reader? Such as booting into recovery and accessing the SD card as if one was using a reader? Im at work, so I cannot try it out till I get home. :D

EDIT: As in, flash the downgraded FW and then boot into recovery to remove the file...

Hello.

I need some clarification on this. I am on 1.27 HBOOT and ICS 4.0.3 (stock,rooted,S-Offed) and need to unlock my phone. Method 2 is not working (Fails to enter bootloader when PG58DIAG.nbh is on sdcard.) Now what confuses me is that you say we should flash 1.17 Firmware but this firmware (according to thread you linked to) is for Gingerbread. And on that thread author says that we can brick phone if flash wrong firmware.

Is it safe to do this what you proposed?

Thank you

yep it is safe ..just that after you flash 1.17 firmware ..you cant boot reason being ..the same (you explained it )
also flashing 1.17 is for temporary purpose only ...just to get the diag file up and running ..and then you will flash back your original firmware again

and flashing firmware wont brick your phone...flashing a corrupted firmware might brick your phone

No, with the PG58IMG.zip firmware file on your sd card you will not be able to access recovery. If you still have a rom flashed, you can let the rom boot and then delete the file by using a file explorer app.
