Hi there.. I followed the steps detailed by you and firmware finder did show approved for installation :- just wanted your feedback (before installing )on how stable EMUI is and do you have any battery issues.... am almost out of the house for close to 16 hours a day and cant afford to have bad battery life..

Also I have the indian variant of Honor 10 - COL-A10 on 8.1.0.150(C675) .. will get it future patches or updates once I update via this method ( i know the answer is mostly yes, but still trying to be sure)

It's mostly working fine but you might need factory reset to make it work properly.
In A couple of cases there was battery issue like lower sot but for many it was same as emui 8.

There is aggressive ram management issue where apps are being killed instantly while in background and free ram is also less.

I think next ota will be as usual as others got camera patch once they installed the update through this method.

I change the DNS using my notebook, restart my router and test accessing the http://query.hicloud.com/checkConnect.action whit sucess. But in my phone using the same wifi that im using in the notebook, it ever show 404. So, when I enter the recovery mode it appears only the EMUI 8 that i already have.
Dont understand what did i wrong.
Where did you change your DNS in router ?
If yes ,if it's being connected on notebook it will also can be accessed in phone.
Just flush DNS and try again in notebook to make sure it's working.

Tried on Honor 8x, I registered the verified update and hicloud site says "Connected to TeamMT Server".
When I go to eRecovery it says "Getting package info failed" :(

I am struggling with my router settings. I can't seem to get the DNS to override. Can anyone help me? My router's settings stink compared to older router's I've owned. Seems to be a skin over the web console that doesn't show me all settings. My router model # is Linksys EA7500 v1

Here's the user manual

Nevermind, I was able to create a Mobile hotspot on my Windows 10 computer, change the DNS on that connection and voila, it's downloading in eRecovery! Brilliant! At 7% now, hopefully fully downloads. Thanks.

Downloaded 99% then gives the message "Getting authentication info failed"

Now what? :(

That's mostly because you have selected wrong firmware.
Btw what device you own?

Honor 8x JSN-L23

I selected JSN-L23C605E2R1P2B156 which shows the correct model in the file name so any help would be great. Thank you

Seems like it.
"Availability of Firmware
Firmware approved for installation
Models for installation: JSN-L23
9.0.1.156(C605E2R1P2)"

---------- Post added at 10:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 PM ----------

Does my geographical location or region settings matter?

hi guys.
i have problem with setting the dns setting.
i tried changing dns on my air station, on my wifi router, on my laptop and even on my phone.
none of them works, and i get 404 error while trying to check my connection to Team MT server.
my phone is honor 8x, jsn-l22, and the FF app confirm one firmware's availability for my phone.
i did get an firmware suggestion in eRecovery which was my current installed firmware.
sorry for my bad English.
any idea how to fix that?
ps: problems also happens with connecting to internet when i change the dns setting on my devices

Then your ISP is the problem. They might have been blocking dns queries.

Yes, just tested it and was able to go to page 1 of this thread, the test page which showed connected, google, and ebay.

**Also, now every time I try this process eRecovery always starts at 99%. Is there any way to force the download to start over again?

I was having problems connecting too and getting my current version only in eRecovery until I created a hotspot with the changed DNS settings in Windows 10. I connected my phone to that and I was then able to connect and get the updated firmware in eRecovery.

Let me know if you can get past 99% after you try that because we both have 8x's. I have the 23 though.

If you are using your windows hotspot you have to configure the hotspot adapter after you start it up. See the picture:

Anyone have any suggestions for me, this is frustrating.

At this point I know I'm connected with the proper DNS settings.

When I go into eRecovery, it shows the correct update

It is approved and registered

It now begins every time at 99%

And then throws an authentication error and fails.

I really want this update now, I've put a bunch of time into it lol. Thanks for any help you can offer.

As a final resort try dns method after resetting your phone.

So you're saying factory reset and then try? Yeah that would be a last resort. Not one I'm unwilling to do but definitely want to see if there's anything else simple holding me back

Hi In this Guide I am going to show a way to update Emui 8.x to Emui 9.x using Firmware Finder

It can be used on locked and unlocked Bootloader.

Data mostly wont be erased but will be erased in some cases where stock system is tampered earlier.

It may or may not lock your Bootloader.

For this you need to install Firmware Finder app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder ) on your device , original thread for the app ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146/ )
    Note 1:
This method requires latest EMUI 8.X available for your device. If you are not on the latest update repeat the below steps to install latest EMUI 8.x for your device.

Note 2: This process is safe to proceed if you have selected correct firmware for your device , If you try to flash wrong firmware and bricked your device I wont be responsible for it.

    Steps to Update :

    1. Install Firmware Finder App ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teammt.gmanrainy.huaweifirmwarefinder)
    2. Select your Device in the App
    3. Check the list of available firmwares
    4. If you are not on the latest EMUI 8.x firmware then you need to install it
    5. Select the next update iteration for your device
    6. Check whether the update is approved your IMEI or not if check step 11 below
    7. If the update is approved Get an update through eRecovery (Note that for this method you have to change DNS in your Router)
    8. Click On Next and copy DNS address from the App
    9. Change DNS in the Router and reboot your Router (Check whether DNS is configured properly or not by clicking this URL http://query.hicloud.com/checkConnect.action if you get 404 then its not configured properly)
    10. Now click on the check availablitiy if not yet approved check next step
    11. There is a option for Register update in the screen now click on register update and click next here your IP will be registered for sending the update
    12. Now connect your device to charger and reboot into eRecovery by pressing Volume+ button
    13. Once its rebooted cleck on the option Download latest version and recovery
    14. On Next step Download and recovery
    15. It will search for WiFi and will list the available WiFi , select the WiFi which you used to register your IP in step 11
    16. It will proceed to download the select firmware once it done it will Reboot.

Repeat the process till you are on the latest version of EMUI 8.x once its done you can Install EMUI 9.x

If it helps Donate to Huawei Firmware Finder (Team MT) and Thank them.

If this steps are helpful thank and rate this thread.

Or try this method if the above doesn't help.

    Success!

Well, I finally did it with the help of this and a few other threads.

    1. I did not have to change my dns, but I did add an entry for the update in my local host file as found in this thread:

    https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78850439&postcount=1334

I followed all directions in the link above.

I uninstalled my Windows HiSuite and following the instructions above I downloaded the one they have linked, replaced all the files.

Then for the FF or firmware finder, I followed the steps here:

    https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78561688

Finally, everything worked like a charm and I am now running some sweet pie goodness.

See my success pic and you will see a bunch of the steps in action.

    Easy tricks

The easiest way for honor play is to download a fake gps then change ur location to China and open HiCare -> update and you’ll see update available for you
    1
so hard to believe it doesn't work on all emui version's... do it on honor play,I believe that working on honor play...record video and upload... believe it doesn't work...okay?

you don't have to borrow with honor 10 pictures... take from honor play...

honor 10 does not run the same as honor play... maybe work on honor 10,i dont known, i not have honor 10, I know that not work on honor play... believe me, I didn't start today...

Sent from my HUAWEI COR-L29 using XDA Labs

Dude seriously you are out of your mind just stay away from this thread if its not helpful to you , I have atleast two success reports for COR-L29 and the comment you quoted says EMUi9.x is not yet approved for his/her device which is quite common and the workaround for it is step 10 and 11.

I repeat again if its not working for you , you have mentioned it just thats enough and there is no need for spamming every thread.

If you wish to contribute and not spam just send a bug report to firmware finder team they might solve the issue.
