Chose the first EDL package (stability) - this worked like a champ! Before on LineageOS 15.1, I could not get any sound mods working, including the bundled Audiofx (maybe an attempt at flashing Dolby Atmos app hosed it prevously?). After this flash, Audiofx is working like a champ and I'll probably flash the sound mods as detailed above. Only minor glitch I can tell is that when you search through settings, it causes settings to fc. Loving it - Thanks so much for this OKI!

Today I successfully updated to android pie (AEX 6.5/ Android 9/Arm64 A only) after following your guide. Here are a few things I discovered after coming across difficulties in the guide(s).

First of all, big thanks to @Oki, @raystef66 , @djkuz and @ordenKreiger (and everyone associated with them, contributing) for your continued support and contributions. YOU have made this phone great for the community and many members.

I used this guide, option 1 (B32 and B10) as a definitive install from a bricked device. You've saved me from a few bricks I caused myself while trying to updated TWRP or messing around with audio mods. I came across trouble trying to restore my device and I was always successful, however stuck with a redundant RR ROM that was not very battery effective. So i did a lot of research and I discovered the following.

1. Steps 9 and 10 of your guide (page 1) is very important for being able to update TWRP. I did not do these two steps after the install, and i think thats why i had error 7 in TWRP trying to flash. I also needed to update the bootstack and modem
Bootstack B12 https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890278863836290535
Modem (chinese oreo) https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=746163614322264578
The bootstack above automatically updated TWRP to 3.2.1-8, and i re-flashed the treble img over it. Always boot the TWRP to recovery (setting inside TWRP)

2. I followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78245997&postcount=254
Flash the system.img to 'System'. On reboot, there was a message saying 'no OS is found' yet it booted to OS. It was very quick to start. I ran this once before returning to TWRP to install Gapps and other fixes, as per the guide. CombiFix was v6.1 and installed magisk and a few other fixes for HotSpot and NFC.

3. Vendor Petition by djkuz did not flash. So far there are no issues with not having this.

4. Gapps https://opengapps.org/ is ARM64, android 9, and i used Nano.

5. Baddar kernel works a treat, all set to default settings.

6. Audio mods (ainur sauron, Audio modification Library, Viper4Android FX legacy) all work, downloaded and installed from Magisk 19. No mucking around like previous mods. Probably AEX, kernel and android 9 has solved a lot of problems I experienced a year ago.

Big thanks to you and the community.

Down the rabbit hole
Thank you so much for this guide and EDL! I got a free axon 7 from a coworker, which had a disconnected screen. So after fixing it I tried to flash LOS 15.1 but messed up, eventhough I had updated twrp and flashed the appropriate bootloader and modem beforehand. I think I might have messed up the partitions on the NAND somewhere. Anyway, with your tools I and guide it was a breeze to recover the phone. Yay, free flagship phone with a very nice ROM!

RR-O-v6.0.0-20180511-axon7-Unofficial.zip

Update after six weeks: after several days, would get NO SERVICE message and coudn't make calls, even after flashing APN Fix (APNlist_v1.1.2018-05-12.zip). I flashed the Lineage Oreo Modem (A2017U_OreoModem.zip) and resolved this issue, which has not happened again since. GPS Lock is still difficult, but possible after 5-10 minutes (applies whether DEVICE ONLY or HIGH ACCURACY is enabled). Cleared DATA and CACHE on google maps, but no change there. Tried recalibrating compass, but no change. GPS UTILITIES app seems to speed up the process slightly when SATELLITES screen is open (like a helper). All things considered, one of my favorite ROMS. What I was looking for - and failed to find - with Lineage OS.

Yeah, this is old and not quite stable. If you want to stay on Nougat 8.1 (i'm the same), you should flash the Lineage OS package from Oki (it's almost the exact same procedure as flashing the RR6 EDL package from this thread), then flash something like crDroid from raystef66 (no need to flash the combiFix) and finally the newest LOS Vendor. You can also add a kernel like Baddar from king1990 if you like to tweak around the kernel.
That's the setup i did and it's been quite stable for almost a month now.

Thanks Djona12! Will keep in mind. I dirty flashed the latest gapps 8.1/arm64/mini and now I'm getting 30 second GPS locks. Now my issues are fixed with this rom so gonna stick with it for now.

I have the problem which is that after I follow required steps and gets into TWRP - I cannot change file formatting as the entire device is encrypted.
As a result I cannot log in to device as it requires password even though I haven't set it up at any point, nor even on my previous Nougat 7.1.1 B23.
So the ultimate question is how do I flash this stack without having encrypted device.
(There is no option to in advanced settings in TWRP such as Unlock)

Thanks
