[Guide/tutorial/howto] LG GPad 8.3 V500 Android 4.4.2 to Android 9 Pie/crDroid 5.x
Complete and detailed guide to install Android 9 on your LG GPad 8.3 V500.
This tutorial only applies to this model, to check the correct version :
in Android, go to Settings > About tablet > Hardware info and make sure it is this model :
LG GPad 8.3 V500.
We will only use a USB 2.0 port and a fully charged tablet (but USB3 works too).

### Warning. ROM used is perfect except that Camera and LiveDisplay don't work, and will never be.

2 ) INSTALL DRIVERS
Install LG drivers from my pack (LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.5.0.exe file).
Save all your data from the tablet, on PC, microSD card or using Internal Storage partition from the tablet
3 ) PREPARE TABLET
Before going further, install latest LG official updates for the tab:
Connect tab to your Wifi network.
Go to Settings > About tablet > Update Center > Software Update.
Tap on Check now for update and wait during update.
Reboot if necessary.
We now need to make sure tablet runs latest bootloader : Kitkat Bootloader V520f.
On tablet, go to Settings > About tablet > Software information.
Build number is xxx.V50020f.
### If not, quit this tuto and find a tutorial to flash bootloader first.
### V520f bootloader is available in my pack to prevent an extensive internet search.
Still in Android Settings menu, go to Security menu.
Check Unknown sources and Confirm.
Disable Verify Apps.
Now connect tab to PC, wait during drivers installation, and choose Media sync (MTP) connection mode.
Copy files from my pack you unziped on the tablet "Internal storage" partition + ROM + GAPPS (addonsu-16.0-arm-signed + Stump-v1.2.0.apk + me.twrp.twrpapp-26.apk, twrp-3.3.1-0-v500.img + ROM + GAPPS).
Disconnect from PC.
4 ) ROOT LG GPAD 8.3 V500
On tablet, launch File Manager app.
Go to All files > Internal storage. You can see the files you just copied.
Tap on Stump*.apk > Next > Next > Install > Open.
While music is playing, tap on Grind button.
Confirm BruteForce Mode with Okay.
Let it proceed ...
When Stump prints "Please reboot to root", reboot tab (it may reboot twice).
5 ) FLASH RECOVERY
Back to File Manager app, now install TWRP.apk app and open it.
Check all 3 checkboxes and confirm with OK.
Now tap on TWRP FLASH button and then tap on Select a file to flash..
Choose storage /storage/emulated/0 and select twrp-3.3.1-0-v500.img, confirm by tapping on Select (1).
Confirm again with FLASH TO RECOVERY button, confirm once and for all with OKAY.
Now shutdown tab.
6 ) FLASH ROM
We now want to boot to our brand new TWRP recovery.
Hold Power + Volume- buttons until LG Logo shows up. Release immediatly and hold Power + Volume- + Volume+ again until tab shows the Factory reset screen.
Press Power button 3 times to enter in the recovery.
TWRP shows up !!!!
On this first screen, check Never show this screen during boot again and Swipe to Allow Modifications.
Go to Backup menu, select all partitions, make sure Storage is Internal Storage or Micro SD card, then Swipe to Backup.
Now go to Wipe menu > Advanced wipe.
Select Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache, System and Data partitions and Swipe to Wipe.
### Do not wipe Internal Storage partition.
It is now time to install ROM.
Go to TWRP Home menu > Install and select crDroid*.zip.
### If no file is shown, use Select storage to set on the Internal storage.
Now tap Add more zips and select addonsu-16.0-arm-signed.zip,
Add more zips again and select open_gapps-arm-9.0-pico*.zip.
Swipe to confirm flash and waiting during flash.
Tap on Wipe Cache/Dalvik > Swipe and tap on Reboot System > Do Not Install (TWRP)
Tab reboots, be patient while crDroid is on its first startup (it is long, don't worry).
7 ) ANDROID 9 FIRST LAUNCH
Configure Android 9 and enjoy.
To activate root, go to Settings > About tablet.
Tap 7 times on "Build number".
Back to Settings > System > Developer Options
Enable Root access Apps and ADB
and toggle Advanced restart.
In case of a crash, you will have full access to restore and recovery.
Don't forget to copy original ROM backup in a safe place on you PC. Just in case.
