Rooting isn't going to help you in sim-unlocking. You will need unlock code from your respective carrier.can I sim unlock my lg g5 after rooting ?
yes it works , and this is how it worked for me no buttons of the cell pressedSir my H830 volume down is broken.. cant press it.. still lock bootloader.. my question is.. is this method unlock n rooting can work without any step to pressing vol down button??? Ty sir
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
If you still aren't rooted can you try the new test version. Use the new automatic option. The last one which is launched through entering X. This will help you from Unlocking to installing TWRP and rooting phone with most security checks off. Can you test the new script which is supposed to remove problems that you faced and provide feedback so I can quickly fix any problems and make it stable release.yes it works , and this is how it worked for me no buttons of the cell pressed
you need a pc with adb drivers and:
1-Unlock bootloader in developer options
2-Type "" in system console(cmd in windows) then type "Code:adb reboot bootloader" when your phone gets to a black screen *WARNING this will wipe all your data so back it up*Code:fastboot oem unlock
3- Follow the steps in this guide

I had a few problems while using this method
If your recowvery is stucked at selinux as it happened to me unplug and replug the phone to the pc
if you do get to twrp but system erases it you need to copy the no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip inside recowvery folder to your phone start recowvery process again and flash it in twrp when it opens. Hope it helps someone!!
No you can't update through ota after rooting. Taking ota on rooted firmware will only get you toward a brick.Hi, i followed all the steps and strugle a little with the drivers but I got there, iam root now. I know this question must be repeated but can i update the phone without loosing it'? I am gonna pay some guy on ebay to remotely unnlock my g5 and it mmust be rooted, i tried all codes but it never pop up anything to put the code in, thanks

However, you can flash twrp flashable rom zips to install latest update. After that you can use magisk or supersu as per your choice to root. Last firmware zip I saw was of 20n. There can be latest, you need to find on tmobile specific g5 forum
I am not much a developer. I still don't think flashing stock modems on AOSP rom is good practice. Maybe @xpirt or @autoprime can answer this in a more better way.Aha... I think this is the confirmation I've been looking for... So I have 20a firmware, TWRP, (no root), LineageOS 14.1 running on my H830. I did a backup already. If I *only* flash the 20N bootloader and 20N modem firmware (from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...t/stock-h830-20n-zips-kdz-2017-12-01-t3732851)... that shouldn't cause a problem then, correct? No boot-errors, etc?
Many thanks for this tutorial, @dksoni411, it's the reason I was confident enough to get my phone!
Thread title clearly states H830 and V20a only which means you need to flash 20a firmware on your phone. The process is simple. Download H83020a kdz and flash it using uppercut lgup. After that try rooting (Bootloader can stay unlocked)I have the h830 20m does anybody know if this works and how? I am stuck getting failed flashing twrp in my usb with both versions of easyrecowvery. Or do I just need to use autoprimes uppercut and lg up and downgrade. And I already unlocked my bootloader with adb. On the g5 modified version it says could not write to /data/local/tmp/.

1: No, You can't get rid of that screen. It will stay there as far as bootloader is unlocked. If you tried to lock bootloader while rooted then your phone will not boot until you flash kdz.I down grade to H830a & have it rooted. Questions:
1. it shows a screen saying "software cannot be checked... please lock bootloader.." - can I simply use adb to lock the bootloader again to get rid of the annoying screen and without losing root and superuser? If not, what is the right way to get rid of that screen wo affecting the rooting just achieved?
2. after rooting, can I use the normal to upgrade from H830a to say H830n (e.g. using online upgrade from T-mobile or to flash it using LGUP)?
Pls advice. Thanks.
elwhiteboy01, you say in the next post after this quote that you figured it out, but do you recall what it was that got you past the /data/local/tmp message? I can pull a directory listing via adb shell but it's empty so there's no deleting any cow files like the message says to do. How did you get past this?Update... OK so I was able to install 20a through autoprimes lg uppercut. I got the twrp pasted to the phones internal memory. I ran the test zip on a USB. And it fails, says could not write to /data/local/tmp/. It says to check the directory permission and delete any files or folders name recowvery if needed. Can you please tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
Yeah after reading so many comments on the matter, I placed the recowvery file on a USB flash drive and made sure I had the twrp image on the phones internal memory. I followed the steps, I believe hitting 5 then 7 and then 0 and it finally worked from there.elwhiteboy01, you say in the next post after this quote that you figured it out, but do you recall what it was that got you past the /data/local/tmp message? Meanwhile, I'll keep trudging along. I've been awake not quite 24 hours so I'm starting to make those kind of mistakes that brick phones so I might just hang it up for the night but I'd greatly appreciate any advice...
Thanks!
Have you downloaded latest twrp to internal storage and named it as "recovery.img" (not recovery.img.img)I did each and everything and the furthest I could go is till this point. Anyone that has clue on what is wrong will be highly appreciated... Phone reboots after this step and after that nothing, I extracted recovery in USB, version of the software has been downgraded to 20a, the bootloader is unlocked as well. I just don't think I have missed any step so far and Don't know what I can do more to fix it. Spent more than 3 hours today, please help me

Thank you, elwhitebooy01. Try as I did, though, I wound up at one point only able to get to download mode and bootloader mode, unable to get the phone to flash a recovery (and yes, to answer the question I've seen asked of others, I followed every direction to the letter but that sometimes just doesn't work the same >shrugs<). I ended up finding a manual COW exploit post somewhere and that worked... Sometimes you just need to do things manually. I rarely ignore the man behind the curtain.Yeah after reading so many comments on the matter, I placed the recowvery file on a USB flash drive and made sure I had the twrp image on the phones internal memory.
