Samsung Galaxy A33
Hello, i had the same issue.
As DiegoRuiz said, you should be able to poweroff the phone by holding all buttons at the same time.
Then when powered off, immediately hold the buttons to boot into downloadmode and try reflashing the os again.
The process seems somewhat broken, but as i said in the original post i managed to install lineage after all.
I will try the buttons combination a few more times to see if I get lucky then

I tested on SM-A33B/DNS

It works for me, I used TWRP from the comment at the bottom and it managed to upload TWRP and the system without any problems the first time.

here is a link of what twrp I used (https://xdaforums.com/t/recovery-a33x-teamwin-recovery-project-3-for-galaxy-a33-5g-exynos.4536771/)

calling and texting work, wifi and bluetooth the same. also no problem with the rest of the features such as flashlight and adjustable brightness.

I additionally rooted the phone using magisk (https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases)
It is also worth saying that I had to remove samsung's default partition encryption. to do this you need in TWRP:
- Go to Advanced > Terminal, type: multidisabler
- Go back to Wipe > Format Data > type yes
- Reboot to recovery.

and only then flash the rom

have fun and thanks for the rom

ok and so it turns out that you can not encrypt the phone (both with root and without).

when in the settings I click "encrypt phone" nothing happens, the button is highlighted as if it was clicked but nothing happens.

Can't tell, but why not? Andy Yan's GSI's are relatively up to date running android 13.
GSI stands for Generic System Image, all versions should work on any android device.
Or you could try another system instead of lineageos, AOSP-FLOSS is also good.
AOSP meaning Android Open Source Project, FLOSS meaning Free Liberte Open Source Software.
A link to both is in the updated guide.

im having problems with 5G network,

and with dual sim switching on/off, doesn't work
I've noticed issues with the latest nightly lineageos builds from andy yan so i'm using lineage-20.0-20230716-UNOFFICIAL-arm64_bvN.img.xz now and haven't noticed any issue so far. Can't comment on dualsim, never tried.

Actually there is one setting that i really miss from his nightly build, and that's the PHH Treble Setting allowing you to change the refreshrate from 60 to 90 Hz which is +30 frames per second so way smoother feeling.

Thanks for this guide !!

Some tips that might be helpful:

-If you want to enable/disable fast (9v) charging, do it in stock rom right BEFORE wiping data and installing custom rom because you won't be able to change it afterwards (this setting is kernel level and stays the same after installing custom rom), I disabled it because the speed of 5v charging is enough for me

-Install the TrebleDroid version (td) not the Light version otherwise some features won't work, for example usb-c headphone needs a workaround (alternative audio policy) that is only available in the td version

-Doing multidisabler is necessary before flashing rom otherwise system won't boot (thanks @lunazea)

-You can also try other TrebleDroid GSIs (I haven't tried but will do in future):

-Fingerprint doesn't work obviously

-Enable "suspend execution for cached apps" in developer options for better battery

Other than that everything is great !!

    WARNING!
You are responsible for any damage that might happen to your device.
Follow the guide carefully to avoid issues.
This guide provides instructions how to:
Unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, install LineageOS, root and unroot the phone.

    LineageOS GSI TWRP A33 - Copy.jpg

    (1) • Unlocking the Bootloader

This will void your warranty and erase all data
    Power on your phone
    Complete the initial setup
The A33 forces you to connect to the internet before you can use the device
Once you connected to the inernet, a new option will become available in the phone settings
    > settings > about device > build number > press 7 times on "build number" to enable developer options
    > settings > system > developer options > enable OEM Unlock and USB Debugging
    Power off the Phone
Boot the phone in OEM unlocking mode: hold volume-up and volume-down while the Phone is powered-off
While holding the buttons connect the phone to a computer using a USB cable
Keep holding the buttons untill phone is booted to OEM unlocking mode
In OEM unlocking mode hold the volume up key for few seconds, wait for the phone to complete the unlock process
Your phone is now OEM unlocked

    (2) • Install TWRP Recovery

After unlocking OEM, complete again the initial setup of the phone
Enable Developer Options and USB Debugging as done before
Once connected to the internet, OEM unlocking can be activated
    > settings > about device > build number > press 7 times on "build number" to enable developer options
    > settings > system > developer options > enable USB Debugging (and OEM Unlock if you see it)
    Power off the phone
On your computer download the following: Samsung USB Driver, Odin, TWRP Recovery, vbmeta_disabled_uh.tar
    https://developer.samsung.com/android-usb-driver
    https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin.zip
    https://eu.dl.twrp.me/a33x/twrp-3.7.0_12-0-a33x.img.tar
    https://xdaforums.com/attachments/vbmeta_disabled_uh-tar.5941179/
Install the Samsung USB Drivers on your computer
Boot the phone in OEM unlocking mode: hold volume-up and volume-down while the Phone is powered-off
While holding the buttons connect the phone to a computer using a USB cable, press volume-up to continue to Download Mode
On the computer extract the odin.zip file and start Odin
In Odin klick on AP and select the file you downloaded, twrp-a33x.img.tar
In Odin klick on BL and select the file you downloaded, vbmeta_disabled_uh.tar
Klick start to flash TWRP Recovery on your A33 Phone
When you see a green "PASS" in Odin it means the process is done
    Power off the phone

    (3) • Install LineageOS

Download LineageOS on your computer (alternatively AOSP is another good option)
Extract the downloaded LineageOS.xz to get the LineageOS.img file
Copy the "LineageOS.img" on any Micro-SD-Card or USB-Drive (you will need either a microsd adapter or usb adapter)
Connect your phone with the storage where the LineageOS.img is stored (Your microSD-Card or USB-Drive)
Boot phone in Recovery-Mode (TWRP) hold volume up + power and use cable to connect to pc while holding buttons
In TWRP select install then press select storage, select SD Card or USB where the lineage.img is located
Choose install image and flash the LineageOS_GSI.img to System
    In TWRP reboot to system
Done, you have successfully installed lineageos

If you have any issues find the official samsung stock rom here: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a33/firmware/#SM-A336B

    • Root / Unroot

I don't know about AOSP, however LineageOS is not fully private, it connects to google
To fix that you must install magisk to root your phone, and install termux.
    https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
    https://github.com/termux/termux-app/releases
Rename the downloaded Magisk.apk to Magisk.zip
Copy the renamed Magisk.zip and rename the copy to uninstall.zip
Copy both Magisk.zip and uninstall.zip to your SD-Card or USB-Drive
Boot the phone in recovery mode (TWRP)
In TWRP select install, select storage, select Magisk.zip and flash it
    Reboot to system
Now your phone is rooted, perced to install the termux app, open it and enter the command: su
Magik will ask to allow superuser privileges for termux, confirm and enter the following commands:
    settings put global captive_portal_mode 0
    settings put global ntp_server pool.ntp.org
Finally reboot your phone for the changes to take effect
If you wish to unroot your phone, boot to recovery (TWRP), install, select uninstall.zip and flash it, reboot, done.

perfect brother. thank you soooo much it works perfectly. even tho i had some issues with twrp install it works now
    1
Is it compatible with the A336M?
I don't have that version but since none of the above downloads was version specific this should work with all A33 variants.
    1
    I don't know the differences between A336B and A336M
Just try it i would say. Probably will work, if not simply flash stock firmware.

    May I PM you?
