Moto Site is finicky, and instead of it saying I'm sorry there's an error, it just says​

So if you get this notice but you have a qualifying Cid (see post #3)​

Moto devices must have the bootloader unlocked, if you want twrp or root.

I'm new to Motorola but not to rooting in general. OEM unlocking is not greyed out but it was for a few days. I enabled it but still can't unlock the Bootloader with the Motorola website. My issue is I'm on Verizon. Is there any hope? I have Motorola Edge (2021)

Hello,

I just bought my new phone and directly from Motorola. It's an unlocked Moto G100, Android 11. My carrier is Verizon but I haven't set it up with them yet. I checked and it says I can get the code to unlock the OEM.

I'm having the "OEM unlock grayed out" issue. I've updated and it's still grayed. I'll wait the suggested time(s) and see if it fixes.

What I would like to know is if I root this while it's still unlocked, before I get the VZW bootloader and set the phone up on their network...

1. Could doing this increase the odds of bricking the phone? Should I even bother with Root since I'm going to set it up on Verizon's Network?

2. If I can successfully and safely (as possible) root it now will installing Verizons bootloader unroot it? If so, would it be possible to get root back at that point?

3. Does just requesting the unlock code void my warranty or does the warranty void only after I unlock the OEM?

There is no unofficial unlock method for Motorola Qualcomm devices, that I know of.

I apologize if this has already been answered in the thread - I read through it all, but I didn't see my issue be covered. Or if it was, I wasn't sure which specific method applied to my issue, in particular.

I have a Moto Z3 Play (XT1929-4). I was dumb and unlocked the bootloader, thinking that LineageOS would be worth it - it is, but it's pretty buggy in certain aspects, and I want to go back to stock. Went ahead and used the Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant tool to re-flash everything back to stock, which I've used before for other phones; it works. Great. I'm back to stock.

The problem lies in that, when I re-lock the bootloader after flashing everything over (AND performing a factory reset, both via Recovery and within Android, itself), I'm getting the dreaded "Your device has loaded a different operating system" message, alongside "Verity mode is set to disabled", after following the bootloader unlocking process in reverse - typing "fastboot oem lock *lock/unlock key*". I can still technically boot into stock, and everything seems to be working just fine at a surface level, but the prompts when I boot won't go away, no matter what I try. Right now, I'm back to running LineageOS, and I'm afraid to mess with my phone much more, knowing that I would need to reset everything again (after painstakingly setting up all of my phone and app settings) if I were to try to go back to stock, again. That being said: how would I go about fixing this issue? I'm definitely willing to give it one more try, but only really if I know for certain that it'll work, because I really want to avoid spending another afternoon setting everything back up if the process fails and I need to abort mission.

Not super sure if it's relevant, but instead of fastboot saying "oem locked" when I lock the bootloader, it says "flashing locked". Also, it now accepts "fastboot oem unlock" and "fastboot oem lock", without needing the key at all. I've tried locking the bootloader before AND after disabling OEM Unlocking in the Dev Settings, dove into the different Verity mode commands that I found online, and nothing seems to work. Honestly, it's a miracle that I still have a working phone, at all, and that I haven't bricked it.

I don't remember having the same issue with my Moto G7 - using the Lenovo tool, and then following the official Motorola unlock guide in reverse, seemed to work perfectly. It's just this phone that I'm having issues with.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: I'm an idiot and forgot that system image backups are a thing. So I'm up for experimentation, lol.

So since the Moto G Stylus 5G I have is on the Cricket carrier(AT&T bought) the devices are locked. The CID is 0x33 I believe. I don't actually want to pull my phone back out to check the fastboot id's. I started to try unlocking this device a while ago. I really think that since the line of devices are all the same exact firmware with different bootloaders, that I could put it in EDL mode and flash a different carriers stock firmware onto it such as T-Mobile's which is unlock-able and has development for it already. The question is does EDL support reflashing everything? If the bootloader can be reflashed then it should work. And I know that the risks are high, but I'm thinking that I can reduce it only due to the main hardware being exactly identical. What are your thoughts on this?

I am currently trying to unlock the bootloader on my Moto G Power (2021) with software channel Fi. I purchased it from Google Fi and received it yesterday (3/27). I followed the instructions in the official bootloader unlock page and received my unlock code. I am currently stuck on enabling the "OEM Unlock" option in Developer Settings. Right now it is grayed out, I am aware that users who have had that problem are saying that one has to wait a couple of days before the option becomes available. I checked with Motorola and they are saying that since I ordered the Fi Version of this phone that it probably is not possible. I checked my CID in fastboot and got 0x0032 which, according to the list that is on this thread, is a CID that is unlockable. Essentially I am not sure if it is possible to unlock the bootloader on this device due to the OEM Unlock option being grayed, I would like to know if I either have to wait a couple of days or if it actually is not possible due to it being the Fi version.
