As far as my understanding of this process, which is limited and I haven't had to try it, you use the version that matches whatever most recent official TouchWiz bootloader you already have on your phone, which is separate from the version of Android. Do you know what version you had?

Hmmm... I can't find the answer to that. I tried posting in the C-Rom forum, but it won't let me because I'm new to the forums... Anybody know?

No one would be able to tell you. It isn't flashed with a ROM. What's the last stock TouchWiz version you took an OTA or Odined to?

MK3/4.3, MD4/4.1.2, etc.

I originally odined with this "L710VPUCND8_L710SPRCND8_L710VPUCND8_HOME.tar.md5" file. Which is the stock 4.4.2 rom, then rooted with philz_touch_6.41.6-d2lte.tar.md5. After that, I flashed C-RoM-KK-v7.1-20140622-d2lte.

So, it would be the stock touchwiz 4.4.2? Because C-Rom shouldn't touch 4.4.2? Sorry, I'm in new territory here... I was happy with M.O.A.R. until I noticed everyone who had upgraded to ND8 was getting better signal quality in my area....or so I thought...

Looking at what I did earlier.. Looks like I was an idiot and tried installing a i9300 bootloader on my sprint GS3... That's what I get for trying to rush through things.... didn't think to double check what I was doing... arghh...

I found a ND8/KitKat Debrick image and tried that... but no luck.. Still won't boot up...

It may be bricked beyond this method, then.

Have you tried taking and leaving the battery out for a good hour or overnight? I don't have too much hope for it but this has helped sometimes. Then try to go direct into Download mode.

If it goes, re-Odin the stock ND8 tar that you mentioned in your first sentence. Do not try Odining anything else. If that succeeds, then re-Odin Philz and either re-root it with Philz or restore your backup.

I have a Samsung galaxy rush running 4.1.2 jelly bean. It has been soft bricked it is stuck in a boot loop and will only show the. Samsung logo and a yellow triangle. I've tried restoring it through Odin and CWM but nothing has changed. So some help please? I've done all I know to and gotten no where.

i747 m 4.4.2 debrick help

Okay. So I hard bricked (yes, I know a noob mistake... we all slip up some times ;) ) my S3 by flashing an Illusion ROM for the i9300. My device was totally unresponsive. No boot screen, no dl mode, no recovery... nothing. This is a total unbrick for those of you who have done the same as I did. There is already a thread on this by gTan64 but it seemed a little vague and it took me awhile to figure it out. So here is my version.

DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT GUARANTEE THIS TO WORK. DO NOT COME TO ME IF YOUR PHONE EXPLODES OR SOME HOW GOES INTO A WORSE STATE THAN A HARD BRICK (If that's even possible)

What you will need:
A 16GB SD (preferably a Class 10)
A hard bricked S3
A USB cord
A Linux/Windows dual boot computer (Or go use a Linux Live CD)
Stock tar for ODIN

This was all done on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and you will need to be familiar with Terminal and its processes.

You will need this file (thanks to billard412 for pointing this out to me and gTan64 for the DL link ) [gTan64's thread ]
http://www.mediafire.com/download/231uhy6l80jx74n/debrick_sph_l710.img.xz

Okay. Let's Begin.

Assuming that you are already on a Linux machine, here's what you need to do.

1. Make sure you have no external USB/HDDs attached to your machine. Insert your SD card to a reader. You will need to identify the letter of the SD card. You can do that by opening up Terminal and enter the following

You only need to use the part that says "sd[your card letter]". That is the your SD card's letter. DO NOT USE THE ONE THAT HAS THE NUMBER. For example: sdc1 <<< That is a partition of the SD card, not the actual root of the SD card itself. If you use the wrong letter, YOU COULD WIPE YOUR HARD DRIVE.

Or go use GParted (Just look for it in the Applications drawer in Ubuntu) for an easier method.

2. Unzip the s3 unbrick file on to your desktop. Now go back to the Terminal. You should still have root privileges so there is no need to enter "Sudo Su" again. Enter the following.
WARNING: THIS WILL ERASE THE ENTIRE SD CARD.

This should write the img file to the SD.

3. After it's done writing the img, take out your SD card and put it into your phone. With the battery in the phone, insert the SD card, plug the phone into your machine, and try to boot to DL mode via the usual method. This WILL take several tries and possibly rewriting the img file to SD card again to work.

4. If you were lucky enough to boot to DL mode, boot back to Windows and then I suggest you go and download a stock MD4 (as of 18July2013) tar file and ODIN yourself back to stock and go on from there. Btw, if you don't ODIN back to stock, your phone WILL STILL BE BRICKED. This is because the phone is using the SD card to boot to DL mode.

I suggest that you keep that SD card as your "OH SH*T, I HBRICKED" rescue card.

If you were successful, don't forget to hit up that thanks button and buy me a cheap coffee! :D

I wish I could, but I can't. I only put this up specifically for the Sprint SGS3, I don't know anything but about the Rogers i747 because I don't have that device and it's also a GSM phone. I don't have the SGS3 anymore and I really can't keep up with XDA anymore since I'm working 0500 to 1800 5 to 6 days a week, Sorry.

Method + JIG = SUCCESS (finally)

Hmmm... I can't find the answer to that. I tried posting in the C-Rom forum, but it won't let me because I'm new to the forums... Anybody know?
I found out after a successful Unbricking earlier that it doesnt matter which debrick.img you use. After trying many different combo's of 1st the battery then the SD now the USB cable..... 1st the SD, Now the battery then the USB etc...I was actually in the process of downloading the ND8 .img when I decided to run the script one more time with the original Debrick.img file from the OP and SUCCESS!! I am on ND8 and it brought me back from the dead with vigor! The method I used was only slightly different in that after writing to the SD card ( in Ubuntu 14) I actually put the SD card in first then I put in my USB jig (I was getting nowhere with the cable). with the jig and SD in place, I popped in the battery and voila. I realize most people prob don't have a jig handy but it makes things so so so much easier without all the button pressing and being wired into the computer... Hope this helped somebody

Low Battery DL Mode

Would having an extremely low battery affect me gaining dl mode with this method?

I have written the img many, many times in various ways on a 16gb class 10 microsd and attempted many orders of plugging in the battery, sd, and pc cable (then holding vol down + home + power for 10-15 sec) yet am having no success gaining dl mode. I do, however, hear Windows trying to recognize the device on each attempt and get the red led when plugged in without battery. I hard bricked my SPH-L710 while trying to fix a loud mic issue with Cyanogenmod 11, two days ago. I did it while my battery was probably below 5%.
