I have a different Huawei device, but am trying to root the EMUI 9 beta following the same steps. I've managed to extract and patch the recovery_ramdisk with Magisk, but when I flash it and try to reboot while pressing the vol+ button, it just brings me to the eRecovery every time.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi, i am an owner of Huawei mate 20 pro and been waiting to root it.
I guess i am not the only one.
Why we should waiting for funky and globalunlock to sell us a not fully working solution and not buying a phone to JohnWu creator of magisk to help us root the phone with his brilliant mind?
When we are willing to pay 100$ or more to get it root we can give 5$ or 10$(individually) to buy a phone altogether and support the development of our phone with the help of Jonh.
Someone who knows how, can make a poll in XDA to see how many of us want to root the phone.
Let's take the situation at our hand and help our self's. Altogether with have the power, let's support our self's JohnWu and the community of XDA.
Best Regards

I totally support this. I come from ios to Android because the easyness of rooting. Then i took a chance on Mate 20 pro. Dumbest thing i did. I really need a compiled software that can root this and would much rather pay a developer to help us than 195 USD to Funkyhuawei. I am in desperate need for root and mate 20 pro is abviosly not the easyest one around. Please start a poll. I will pay, no doubt about it.

Regards, Kenneth, Norway

Root exists for this phone for long time, if you open first page - magisk even supports our device. The problem is not getting root, the problem is finding an unofficial way to unlock bootloader device to install this root which is a different thing on its own. Basically it involves low level hacking with huge risks of burning money spent.
0. Bootloader code is randomly generated checksum and tied to imei in database that nobody now has access to. They took last access from engineers in January. Activation of this code is happening in fastboot mode that in Huawei devices opens fullscreen white color background that heavily eats battery, undisablable, and gives u only 5 unlock code tries. After 5 tries it reboots to android. Everything we have stops us from unlock, even bruteforce not an option
1. Huawei emui9 devices have stupid partitioning, which makes it different from others
2. No public exploits to read system partitions
3. Unlock code is now encrypted somewhere unlike in emui8.
4. Device is stupidly expensive, the price of trying is high risk of making brick because without unlock you can't easily recover it
5. Huawei itself doesn't support unlocks now, why should we invest money into their devices after what they've done? Let's be clear, even Huawei representatives left XDA in the middle of February (check Honor forums).
6. HiSuite and other nearby tools can flash custom stuff, but it won't boot on locked bootloader unless files are signed by Huawei. They won't disclosure sign keys.

PS: whatever FH has is what nobody wants, we need proper unlock to get developers to support this device.
PS2: no problems with making bounty thread, but let's make it direct - we need undocumented way to unlock device, not undercooked useless root

Yes i know that root exist but it needs bootloader unlocked. FunkyHuawei claims that have find a way to unlock the device without bootloader code. This is what i hope JonhWu can do for the device. I understand that its not proper solution but maybe we can force Huawei to change strategy.

Sorry, late to the party here. Who is JonhWu? Is he working on how to get bootloader unlock code? Thanks!
