I just purchased a Xoom, has anyone tried to issue the fastboot OEM lock command to see if it will indeed relock the device?

I'm waiting to hear if you can lock the bootloader at a later time. I know with the Nexus it wasn't as simple as "fastboot oem lock", at least not with the consumer/public developer devices. There was some speculation that maybe the in house HTC or Google developers may have had devices that did have that functionality.

So anyone want to try it out for us that have already unlocked their Xoom? We would be quite grateful, as we know it's a pain to have to setup your device all over again. Maybe it would be ideal if someone who is going to unlock their bootloader try to re-lock it before they go through all the trouble of setting their Xoom back up the way they want it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: authorized images must be loaded BEFORE this device is re-locked.

does that mean you need the stock update.zip located in /sdcard before re-locking?

This just means you go back to stock, so you would need an OTA or signed update to work, once RE-LOCKED. Once you un-lock the device, it does not require signature verification. That way you can flash any file you want aka Developer Mode.

Doubt it as the factory reset it does erases the "sdcard" I think that means your tablet should be like it came from the factory. We need the ruu I guess.

So by relocking the device would we be able to safely send our xoom in for the 4g upgrade without them knowing we rooted the phone before?

I have a question, when relocking bootloader do we need the stockboot.img loaded before unlocking or can we just use oem lock command to lock the bootloader again. Anyone have a confirmed copy of said stockboot.img file

I do believe in the picture it's telling you you must be 100% stock when you re-lock the bootloader, otherwise it will not boot. SO you must flash back to stock, so it can read signature's.
