It worked also for me! I was from latest global china Version: V7.3.1.0.LXKCNDD.
Fortunately or unfortunately there are dozens of tutorials on the internet, and they are never the same so it’s complicated to decide what to follow. This one is perfect, and the problems I had was for not reading it correctly
I flashed xiaomi.eu multi_libra_V7.2.4.0.LXKCNDA and it’s working perfect. No more Chinese apps, characters, etc.

Hi,
I found the reason for the mistake: the unpacking of the 6.1.7 image went wrong, probably caused by W 10. After unpacking it on my Linux box all went well.

Hi,
I did everything as per Tutorial but after step 4 it stops

1. Downgrade your Mi4c by flashing any image from the list above via the "Updater" app (use top right icon to select image).
2. Reboot into fastboot mode (Power + Vol Down) until you see the MIUI rabbit and "FASTBOOT"
3. Command: fastboot oem edl (this brings your device in a kind of emergency recovery state) -> the device does only show a black screen. Do the next step.
4. Use MiFlash to flash 6.1.7 image (Browse -> select the "images" directory of the 6.1.7 package and start flashing)

after a few seconds of flashing an error message comes up saying something like file not found and "max buffer sector is 256"

I tried it on an Dell Laptop with W 10 / 64bit , and the qualcom usb driver

Any clue where else to check ?

worked on mi4c miui7 6.3.31
use x64 win7
install drivers x64
install miflash
charge the phone >50%
use v6.1.7 (path without spaces)
click refesh in miflash and flash...done.

Worked for me.
Was complicate undertand the use of fastboot, but was necesary because update rom was blocked. I mixed those sw and instructions, other tutorial as MyPhone, TWRP + EU rom to apply full Spanish language.

Hi, i am on newest China developer rom 6.5.12, tried to downgrade to 6.1.21 from original post through Updater app but failed already there. Can i proceed with other steps without downgrading or it will brick my device?

I have the same problem. Wait a moment, im trying install 7.0.15 for install 6.1.21. TRY HARDEN (my internet starts burning, downloaded now more then 6gb ...)
I think im die on my rages. Trying to install 7.2.1 for install 7.0.15 -> 6.1.21 -> Miflash 6.1.7 / or 7.2.1/7.2.4 -> V7.1.4.0 -> Miflash 6.1.7

I came to the conclusion that it isnt possible to downgrade anymore like written in first post but !
With MiFlash is it possible. Now im on 7.1.4 and now go to 6.1.7.
Use adb toolkit linked on page 7

i have miflash installed, i have mi pc suite installed, adb installed, Qualcomm driver installed, i can see device in fastboot through fastboot devices and put it in EDL mode,i see it in Ports in device manager, but when i launch Xiaomi flash and choose folder Image absolutely nothing happens, nothing is loaded, no phone is recognized, no matter if i try Refresh or Flash

so my trivial question is what am i doing wrong that i don't see anything in miflash?

EDIT: select MAIN folder containing folder Images, DO NOT select folder Images, nothing will happen and you will waste your time

download libra 6.1.7 with your android mobile, when i downloaded it with my windows 10 pc with chrome or newest IE, I always ended up with corrupted file with error when unpacking, on mobile it went fine on first try

BTW i went directly through miflash from newest China dev 6.5.12 to 6.1.7 without downgrade through Updater, in the end everything fine, now running TS CM13.1

i did as what in the steps in the first page, I can't install the cm13, from the TWRP, it says something as error=7
now my phone only blank, when use with mi flash, it's available and can be flash, but when trying to flash with 6.1.7, though mi flash says SUCCESS, the phone did not want to reboot.

Ok, it's solved. I had to discharge the battery, then the phone started normally. So it works with the 6.4.21 also

I didn't have to downgrade though just flashed from V7.3.2.0.LXKCNDD to 6.1.7 using MiFlash and everything worked just fine.

Followed steps everything went well untill running miflash i get the error:
The system cannot find the file specified.(0x80070002: Open serial port "\\.\COM10" failed.)

Help please I really need unlock this so i can install custom ENGLISH ROM
