I don't know what it is for, but the choice is in miflash
It relocks the bootloader again
Never select it if you want your bootloader unlocked.
Read how things work before doing anything.
Have a fastboot ROM in hand if your device is bricked you can recover.
Read the threads about unlocking( officially/unofficially), installing custom recoveries and other

Hi,

Problem on my Redmi 3 note pro special edition (kate) I unlocked unofficially.

Short version:
After years of phone use with no problem, I got a bootloop at Mi.com logo. The recovery got the same symptoms with it own logo.
I restart from scratch : Put the phone in EDL mode and Flash with mi flash tool. Flash lineage Os (android 6). The phone was back working fine.
But only 2 weeks later, I got the same bootloop at Mi.com logo.
Question below.

Complete/Long version:
I had a wonder-full pleasant use of my phone on resurrection remix rom (android 6),
No problem for years but a couple of days ago, in an app (each time the same) the phone get stuck, this happened 1 or 2 times / day but the rest of time I fully can use my phone.

This morning, the phone was stuck on Mi.com logo. (I don't modify or update the ROM for years)
It stay on logo about 60 seconds (less or more) and reboot and the same again and again

I can't go to recovery menu cause I get the recovery icon and 60 seconds later (less or more) it reboot and same problem with Mi.com logo...
(I wanted to try https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2426426)

But I can go in fastboot system,
And my computer can communicate with fastboot.

I can go to EDL mode too and with the help of Black_Stark/naik2902 (see here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/bootloop-rn3pro-se-kate-mi-com-icon-t3879412) I could use MiFlash tool and start from scratch.

I choose the lineage ROM (still android 6), everything goes well, I started to install my stuff, reconfigure etc... I reboot it with no problem many times.but only 2 weeks after it, I got the same problem: stuck at mi.com logo...
I was on my browser and the 3 virtual (screen) buttons stop to respond. Anything else was still working, so I used the power button (short press) to reboot gently the phone.
After a very fast shutdown I got stuck at this #@!#[email protected] mi.com logo again :'(
Exactly the same symptoms as before, the recovery get stuck at his own logo too.

Question:
Can this come from the unofficial bootloader unlock? If yes can I still re-lock it and unlock it officially?

Thank you for reading,
Sorry for my poor english level,
If I don't put my message at the right place, tell me, I will correct.

??

Strange situation.. If you had twrp before this means you had your bootloader unlocked before you tried this method..

Anyone confirms that method works on miui 10?

Please let someone give me an answere, official method do not work for me :/

Hello I confirm this method to be working. I successfully flashed twrp afterwards. Howewer when I flash new MIUI Rom from twrp, emmc_appsboot.mbn (locked BL) is flashed from that rom zip. Then neither twrp starts nor android. I need to reflash emmc_appsboot.mbn, flash twep and then lazyflasher so android start. This problem does not apply to flashing lineageos. Do you face this issue?

Dont flash miui using twrp. Only use fastboot or edl mode.

Thank you for explaination. However this also apply to Xiaomi.eu roms which are distributed only in recovery (zip) version and suggested to be installed within twrp.
