Great and easy to do unlock . It worked after flashing latest stable 8.2.1.0 which relocked my bootloader .

I don't know what are u guys doing wrong... It doesn't erase anything. And it's working with the latest 7.3.9 beta roms, and also with cm roms for me...

Yes, figures it out that I did something wrong. No problem now as now unlocked boot loaders of 3 more colleagues.

ROM was withdrawn . They are still working on final stable release . I flashed this version which was withdrawn - you can find a link in another thread.

issue i am having is that after unbricking this kate version and flashing latest V8.1.3.0 global MIUI i cannot get this device recognised in device manager,,,it just refuses to connect to any ADB or normal drivers...tried using Mi PC suite but it refuses to connect to that as well...have googled for hours without success for an answer...can anybody here help with this issue please...god these phones are a nightmare...they used to be so good..... : (

UPDATE: so managed to get everything done like in the OP....but...fastboot oem device-info and my bootloader is still false not sure what to do now some help would be appreciated

UPDATE 2.0 : so finally managed to get this bloody nightmare unlocked so for anyone reading this who is having the same problem that i am with this method not working and the bootloader showing false simply follow the steps in the OP afterwards boot into fastboot open android SDK if you have it installed open a command window and type

fastboot devices (press enter)

wait for the device to be recognised
next type

fastboot oem unlock-go (press enter)

your device should now reboot/factory reset wiping all of your data once the device has booted,(please be patient takes around 5-10 mins),enable developer options and usb debugging,boot into fastboot mode again and open another command prompt window in android SDK again type

fastboot devices (press enter)

wait for device to be recognised
next type

fastboot oem device-info (press enter)

now you should see your device showing unlock TRUE all done profit

i tried this guide but after flashing completion my phone went to dye! it is totally bricked...
my phone (sd, kenzo) doesn't show any reaction by holding any buttons but red notification led (when is pluged to pc)

can anyone help me? there are no way to flash it without going to fastboot?

i flashed sucessfully but how do i confirm the bootloader is unlocked as fastboot oem device-info still shows the bootloader is locked?[i did unlock before with the hard way of flashing emmc with rom but now i cant find the 7.x.x rom i used to flash and unlock as now the official xiaomi site only has miui 8 there ]

Hi, thanks for your work , tried it on RN3 Kate and worked fine.
The only thing i noticed after a couple of days is that the notification led are not working anymore.
Tried hardware testing and failed, not even the charge led is working

could it be related to the unlocking file we flashed?

This just saved my phone... Since may 3rd build of LOS14.1, we need to update the modem files so everyone with locked bootloader who install the new modem files will brick right away with only fastboot. I didnt do any backup so I went to EDL mode and followed this and the phone just boot now

Read my message, for me it worked on "bricked" LOS but I just flashed the official TWRP also. Anyway; to update LOS you will need new modem so you will need to unlock bootloader, this tutorial is great because nothing is deleted.

It isn't working on Kenzo with developer ROM 7.5.19. I did everything as described in the first post. After the first failed try, I enabled USB debugging and OEM unlocking in developer options, but it's still locked after flashing.

Edit: It works after issuing "fastboot oem unlock-go" command.
