Aw heck that's the easiest question I've answered all day... you just place the bootanimation.zip or what you want into the /data/local folder and you're set... takes about 30 seconds

If you are using the stock ROM there shouldn't be anything there. I have never looked in Stephen's ROM, but I'm sure the location is the same

Ok 1 more question in order to do this do I need to be rooted...

Yes you need to be rooted and in HoneyStreak and stock Honeycomb the bootanimation.zip is in /system/media

DS7 friends...

I tried the first method for the US wifi version, but messed up the 'rename to update.pkg' part- didn't see that option. once I downloaded the file, I clicked on it and the DS7 asked if I wanted to install the Dell Honeycomb update, and warned the tablet would restart when complete. I watched it run through the Android update screen like I've seen on my phone before (the Android figure next to a box with an arrow pouring out) and shortly thereafter the screen went black. The buttons on the side are illuminated but the tablet has been stuck-lloking for almost an hour... did I brick this thing, or what?

I have not ever used an in-place update ever, that is what you described instead of updating manually.

Make sure the pkg is named update.pkg and try reinstalling it manually

I am a "noob". I have looked in all of the areas about getting Honeycomb onto my Tmobile dell streak 7. The problem is I do not understand most of the information because it seems like it is a foreign language to me. I see the two methods tha are posted, but I want to know what problems can exist by trying to do this, in laymans terms (insert sarcasm here ). I can take some poking fun at me, as long as it is followed by a "Honeycomb on Tmobile streak7 for dummies" info behind it Thank you. I am scared I will "brick" my phone (whch I understand to be just a worthless tablet that is non functioning) or do something that I can't reverse . I bought this thing beause I assumed it would get honeycomb update and now that its confirmed tmobile will not get it, I am tyring to get this done and over with. My main concern is that it will help battery life. Also, I have two other questions you may be able to answer. When I try to get onto my college website into webtyco it just keeps blinking saying that all java needs to be enabled, is ther some type of app ro something that will allow me to run java websites on my tab? Also, my wifi keeps getting stuck at obtaining ip addres, ll my other computers and stuff at my house has no problems, but the tablet keeps not connected, itll say disconnected and try to get ip address and go back and forth with the two...I am going to keep tryig to figure out this tech lingo to see if I can figure this stuff out by myself. Thanks in advance.

I need to update my friends dell streak 7 (tmobile 4g version US) from froyo to HC, before trying these methods, what drivers do I need for my win7 machine to recognize the streak and in fastboot mode?

Try downloading the skyfire browser from the market. I believe it fully supports javascript. There is also one called XPro that I like (I think that is the name, I am not at my S7 right now).

EDIT: The WiFi problem usually means that you have the wrong WEP or WPA password entered.

I have the US T-Mobile 4G Version. I followed the steps for option one and I get an error message saying FOTA Mismatch Model and it says it cant continue and then reboots. Dell told me it would work if I unlocked it and T-Mobile helped me and unlocked it. What do I do?

Greetings, I am having the same issue trying to upgrade using Method 1 and i am getting the "FOTA model mismatch" error message, i thought i saw the answer in the forum but i cannot find it, anybody have any ideas how to get past this message? or can you post the link to the answer i thought i saw?

You have to go to the Dell Streak 7 Wiki from there you can download the recovery.img and the "official" update.pkg to be able to update your 7 to Honeycomb... I provided you the link since you obviously didn't search for it

Actullay i did, that how i knew that i was stuck at the FOTA mismatch when installing the "offical" package, as i said i was using method 1 as posted by manii, as you see in that step you have to download the "offical" package,

Did you also flash the correct recovery.img?

hi,
I have a US Wifi model ( got it from amazon ), and i flashed HC using this guide.
Everything is working fine and i am loving the new update . The only problem i am facing is that, i am not able to install apps from the market. They just download 100% in the notification and then nothing happens.

When i click on my apps in the market it doesn't show any ongoing download but its there in the notification bar .

I hope i made myself clear . So a little help is appreciated.

Can you log into google talk? I've had an issue where I couldnt sign in to google services and a symptom was not being able to download stuff on market and a telling symptom was not being able to sign into google talk

Google talk, gmail and other services are just fine .

And just to let you know i am using same google ID for three different phones ( including my streak ) .. can this be a problem , means like i have to use different ID's for all my phones :S

I think Google restricts the amount of simultaneous connections. I have 3 android devices all with the same email and 3 laptops running Microsoft Outlook. At times, the laptops will give me an IMAP server disconnect with a message saying there are too many connections to my account.
