I was able to overcome the adbwinapi.dll by setting the path of Android sdk in PATH environment variable.
But now I am getting < Waiting for device> message..
In the above ADB attachment , I see inf file.. How do I install that?

Looks like I need fastboot driver..
When I connect streak in Fastboot mode, I am seeing Unknown device in Device Manager.

Any link for fastboot drivers?
Hey sakdroid and anyone else who completed HC upgrade using method 1...

I can't get fastboot to work no matter what I do. Here's what I've done/tried:
- Installed Android SDK including Java SDK
- Downloaded the recovery.img and placed it in the same directory as fastboot
- Installed ADB+Fastboot.ZIP from Themanii

When I execute the fastboot command, I get the message <waiting for device> and nothing happens. DS7 is connected and in fastboot mode. It shows up as a fastboot device with a yellow exclamation mark in device manager (WinXP). I tried installing drivers for the fastboot devices using the ADB+fastboot files that Themanii provided but nothing happens.

I think I am really close but don't know what to do. Help from Method1 experts will be REALLY appreciated!!

FYI....the model I am trying to upgrade is a US 4G TMobile unlocked. I've been trying to get it to work with AT&T after unlocking but have not been successful. Even the AT&T store techs couldn't get it connect. So my last resort is to upgrade to HC and see if that solves the problem.

Thank you all in advance!

I'm in the same boat. I have WiFI only S7. I try Dell Update and it says there is not update. So then I gingerbroke, installed ROM Manager and CWM. Reboot to Recover in ROM Manager does not boot to recovery, just a normal reboot.

I tried volume - and power to fastboot mode, connect, same as you, waiting and fastboot devices ( and adb devices ) does not show any devices.

I've done this before on this same laptop to install Honeystreak a while back. Got tired of HS, so I decided to put stock back on, no problems.

This worked for me

I ended up pulling this down
adb and fastboot

and putting it in it's own directory ( c:\Android ) and at least this time when running

fastboot devices

I got a ? instead of nothing. So I ran
fastboot flash recovery recovery-froyo-US.img

And it appeared to take based on the output in the command prompt window and on the streak 7 screen. Powered up, mounted external USB, copied LG7-WiFi_506_19534_30.pkg ( wifi only DS7 ) to root of external SD card and renamed to update.pkg .

Ran ROM Manager, installed Recovery ( I have done this multiple times before, but did it again ) then exited ROM manager, powered off. Hold volume+ and power button and wait for green black menu. select Software upgrade via update.pkg and it should take you to the CWM menu

Here is more help

I found out that when I *thought* I copied to SD card before last power down, I actually copied it somewhere else ( internal ? ) so after I got to CWM, I mounted USB and copied it over, renamed and unmounted.

I have had a few Android phones and rooted them and installed custom ROMs. So, while in CWM on the DS7, I select Factor Reset/Wipe, Wipe Cache, go to Advanced, Wipe Dalvik and Battery Stats. I do this for clean installs, but not usually need if it's just a minor update to an existing ROM.

Then go back to apply update from sdcard. Box with arrow pointing Android robot...waiting...waiting...

Edit: i used installed zip, and select zip in CWM, not the .pkg file. The box with the arrow pointing to the android robot wasn't doing anything, so I had to use the safety-pin to reset. Then power+ and poweron button, green and black menu, software update via update.pkg, which took me back to CWM, then install zip, select zip and install. Reboot. The reboot took a while, then it was up to Honeycomb 3.2 , kernel 2.6.36.3

Thanks for sharing the files. I think the problem is that I can't get the USB driver for the DS7 to install. I'm using the drivers that TheManii sent. BTW, there are drivers in the root directory of the DS7. I've even tried those to no avail. The message I get when I try to install the USB driver is that the INF file does not contain any info for the device (DS7). I've installed the INF separately but still can't get it.

Any advice???

Woohoo!!! I am running HC 3.2!!!!! I got fastboot to work. Found a modified USB driver posted in the 'Development' section, installed it, and was able to see the DS7 using the "fastboot devices" command. I then ran the US-4G package and PRESTO! Can't believe how quick it went. And now AT&T Mobile network is working (which it did not before).

I am back to loving this tablet!

UPDATE:

Honeycomb working well. No Wifi issues with the update but can't get AT&T Mobile Data connection to work. I've checked the APN settings and can't find anything out of place. Tried taking the SIM out, rebooting, and re-inserting the SIM but still no mobile connection.

Has anyone gotten their DS7 US-4G model to connect to AT&T either in Froyo or Honeycomb?

UPDATE:

AT&T works just fine. There is an APN setting that needed to be changed. Instead of WAP.cingular, changed to 'broadband' and the DS7-US4G-Unclocked-HC3.2 connected just fine!

Cheers to all!

I followed the following steps for Method 2 (below), but am now stuck in a CWM Recovery loop.
1. Install clockwork mod 3.0
2. Download the correct zip: update.zip for US 4G
3. Reboot
4. Install with clockwork mod
5. Factory reset your device

I get to step 5 and then do "reboot system now" and instead of booting to a beautiful new ROM, I just get back to the CWM Recovery screen. Any ideas how I can escape this? It's my first ever attempts at rooting, etc, so I'm new to the lingo.
I'm on a Dell Streak 7 T-mobile US 4g

Try method one, it's the more official way to do it.

If you're already able to flash CWM going to the modded stock rec shouldnt be any different.

Thanks for the quick reply! And please bear with me - since I'm new to this, I'm still trying to figure out the language. A few questions:
-If I see the CWM screen, does this mean I've "flashed" CWM?
-Method 1 calls for flashing with fastboot. How do I do this? Do I use my PC to download the recovery.img onto a SD card and then stick that into my Streak?
-Same question with the update.pkg - do I download it to a SD card?

If you see CWM then it's currently installed correctly.

Setting up fastboot for Windows -XDA wiki

Installing a recovery - XDA wiki

You will need to have fastboot set up on your pc (assuming you have windows), you'll need the recovery from the first post on this thread. As you're stating you're using the US 4g one, download the US recovery.

Then just follow the instructions on the wiki to flash it, of course you'll need basic understanding of the command line, as fastboot is a command line application.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm not able to do any of the steps starting with setting up fastboot, because I can't see anything but the CWM Recovery screen. I can't fastboot the Streak, and connecting the usb cable to my laptop doesn't give me access to the Streak either (it shows up as E: and F: drives, but doesn't let me access them). All I can do is execute the various commands available in CWM - no more, no less. Any ideas?

Did you ever get this figured out? I just had to install CWM 5.0 after running into the "password" bug on CWM 4 when I got into a low battery state.

I should be able to walk you through it in language that makes sense to a "normal" person. :D

The developers here and other knowledgeable people are great, it takes a while to get up to speed on all the terms they understand so readily.

good luck,
DC

Dcoop,
Never got it figured out. Still stuck in CWM. Despite trying everything (pinhole reset, volume up + power, mounting/unmounting, etc, etc), I just keep getting the same CWM screen. Any guidance you could provide would be excellent!

Just got one of these for my daughter. Found it much easier to flash than the steps here.

I checked for updates... though it told me there were none availab.e
I downloaded the update for my wifi only model.
I opened the update.
It then told me there was an update available in the status bar.
I started the update. It rebooted (maybe more than once) and eventually I was in Honeycomb.

No update.zip, no CWM, no adb... just download, open and update.
