I can't seem to get viper or Dolby working on 8.1 RR rom. On spotify it plays the first couple seconds on of the song with the mod then sound goes to stock.

Just wanted to share my results if it helps anyone:
On my OnePlus 6:
Followed all instructions except for installing Audio Modification Library, for some reason it works without it rather than with.
On my Pixel 2 XL:
Followed instructions exactly running Nitrogen OS July build, both V4A and DD+ working flawlessly.

Running pixeldust on pixel 2 xl. No FC on viper or Dolby. But no mods working. Followed the instructions

I think the APK is to old for PIE along with the driver, I could be wrong

Upon further review the audio.server is crashing. We will need to wait for that to be addressed by them as I'm limited on time and it's more then I know. I'll keep at it though as it's similar to Dolby Atmos issue.
I get how this stuff can be a pain to the point it's difficult or impossible to implement. This is really disappointing tho. I really appreciated Dolby. If you find a distro that works, or can help toward making one, please keep us updated. I've got my fingers crossed we'll find a solve.

My current rom won't allow Dolby to work for some reason. Rather than switch roms, I'm using the Viper4Android XHiFi magisk module (along side V4A) and setting eq on Bass boost preset.
May not be for everybody but sounds good on my phone (OP6).

Thanks for the tip. Setup XHiFi and it does sound better. I'm also using the convolvers badger linked earlier in the thread (beats/Harmon Kardon) and it pretty much rivals Dolby. What I liked about Dolby is the dynamic shaping of the bass though. It always shifted bass into my subwoofers sweet spot in my car.
Hopefully someone figures it out...maybe I'll give it a go if I find time.
I heard pie was going to bring viper like functionality at one point. Anyone know what's up with that?

I think we need to wait for a system dump of Dolby from a phone running Pie. Audioserver is the issue
