for some reason the .tar file isn't showing up when I click on AP in Odin. Never had that happen before, I didn't make any changes to it or anything. Opened it once just to make sure it was all there, but didnt touch anything in it. Does this mean something corrupted during the DL ?

EDIT - I am using Odin 3.09 by the way, gonna try 3.07 and see if it shows up in there.

I just soft bricked my VZW Note 3 that I've had out of the box for 30 minutes

I'm a Mac user, and I used VMWAre Fusion 6 to run a virtualized instance of Windows 7 in order to run Odin and flash Root_de_la_Vega. This worked fine on my Note 2 to gain root (and unlock bootloader). Not so fortunate this time.

To recover from the soft brick, I tried to flash the Odin image and PIT using OP instructions, but that also failed (log below).

Odin Log (from when I flashed the Odin stock image and PIT):
<ID:0/005> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> Root_de_la_Vega.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/005> Initialzation..
<ID:0/005> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/005> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/005> SingleDownload.
<ID:0/005> cache.img.ext4
<ID:0/005> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/005> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

Question: Any suggestions for how to recover from this soft brick?

Update: I got ahold a Windows laptop this morning and was able to recover from the soft brick that I created by running ODIN in VMWare.

Lesson Learned: YMMV trying to Odin flash from virtualized instances of Windows.

PS - About KNOX: I was also able to use the native Windows Machine to successfully Odin flash Root de la Vega to gain SU. After soft-bricking, recovering, and flashing Odin image to gain root, KNOX still shows "0x0". Great success.

Help!!

I can't get anything to flash on this phone with 3.07 or 3.09 of Odin. What am I doing wrong??

The phone will still boot into stock OS, no unlock symbol. When I bought it, it automatically did that update thing at best buy, so it's no longer build I9 but J7. I tried the easy root method following the video. No luck. I tried using Odin to return it to the stock I9. No luck there, either. Regardless of what I try to flash, or what cable I use or version of Odin I use, Odin fails upon write start and the phone says "SECURE CHECK FAIL: cache"

Do I need to take out the microSIM or something? Do I need a newer micro SIM than what was in my S3? Any ideas???

Edit: Additional info - The PIT file seems to work, and after doing that, it will boot up back into stock just fine.

It appears if you have upgraded to the newest version, and kept root, but then soft brick you cannot go back to MI9, either that or I'm doing something wrong.

Edit: Upon trying further on a windows 7 machine I now have 0x1 on Knox Warranty Void.

And now I will proceed to cry in a corner :\

once you are on J7 you can not revert back, restore with the J7 stock image, make sure to use the pit file.

Eh, I try. This is more picky than other samsung phones I have owned (Fascinate, GNex, S3...) but to be fair we are still way early in the game with the Note 3, and I doubt it will have the mass following that the S3 did.

Ugh. That sucks. I can't believe that an OTA update that took a few minutes (and only happened because I wasn't really paying attention at the time, and trying to get everything lined out with the Best Buy employee that was selling me the phone) is so irreversible.

Do J7 builds not have safe root yet?

Please help! I am just trying to get my phone working!
I tried installing the PIT file and the MI9 stock download in the AP slot and
I keep getting this error message when restoring through odin SW REV CHECK FAIL: [ABOOT]FUSED 2 > BINARY 1.
If i then just flash the PIT file I get the samsung galaxy note 3 splash screen showing custom but thats it.I go into recovery mode and wipe data / factory reset and then it just goes back to the samsung galaxy note 3 custom splash screen but it does not reboot.
CAN someone please help me out!
Thanks
