Do you think it would be possible to install Windows if i managed to boot the bios and plug in the OTG drive? (With the Android version of the tablet)
You've got to take into account the Yoga Book is a passively cooled atom processorSo it kind of fits under the right tool for the job! I have actually had up to 25 programs, including things like the latest version of Photoshop and MS Office running on the minimal build. Even though the system was using all but roughly 400MB of ram the system stayed completely responsive! Task switching was smooth and fast and the system quickly recovered all of the ram. I was curious as to what you thought for the simple reason is this is your first go with the Yoga Book. The minimal build does definitely seem faster but I haven't done any benchmarks as of yet. I wish I had a new stock Yoga Book to really calculate the difference. I honestly didn't think I would go public with the guide in the beginning so I never bothered.
While I really do appreciate your offer I think am going to decline. Just knowing this guide is actually helping people is all the return I am looking for![]()
You already asked in your own thread. And the Answer will always be the same.Do you think it would be possible to install Windows if i managed to boot the bios and plug in the OTG drive? (With the Android version of the tablet)
Jamespmi is to the best of my knowledge absolutely correct. The BIOS appears to be the main hurdle. I've never had both units disassembled in front of me to say the rest of the hardware is the same but it is a claim that is often made in regards to the Yoga Book I just wonder if the Android YB BIOS could be dumped, modded, and then flashed. Even if a dump and flash did work you would only be changing OS's, not adding a dual boot set up. For that to happen the BIOS would likely need to be heavily modified. The best idea I can think of, if it would even work, would to be to expand on Phoenix OS or Remix OS. If the drivers could be pulled from the Android Yoga Book and then added to Phoenix/Remix OS that would take care of both the BIOS issues and the dual boot setup. I haven't done BIOS modding in over a decade so I am not to one to get that project done!Do you think it would be possible to install Windows if i managed to boot the bios and plug in the OTG drive? What kind of battery life are you getting? Depending on usage I get anywhere between 5-12 hours of battery life.Fair enough.
A few things i noticed with the device. The battery is not lasting that long, and it cannot hold a charge when in use even when plugged in. I dont have the OG charger, but uses a quick charger from my samsung s7 Edge. Is that charger not powerful enough for the YB?
I did have a problem updating my windows after the clean install and i had to download and install the update manually.
When i press the battery icon, it does not give me an eta on the battery. Is this a windows update thing, or a driver thing? Can i get that back?
When pressing vol-up + power at boot, i cant choose Novo option for boot. Why is that?
(Sorry for the blast of questions). Thanks again.
Is this what you installed for the mobile broadband drivers? If so I may need a little assistance in extracting the actual driver files. I should be able to make a command (batch) file to do almost all of the work. Would you be willing to help out if so?I have just followed this guide.
One thing. The mobile broadband driver was not included, so i had to go and find that myself (yeah.. i have a tough life) Other than that. Working perfectly.
I might be wrong, but if he did a clean install without or not properly installing the "Intel Chipset Driver for Windows 10" or the "Intel Battery Management for Windows 10" the OS wont trigger the Battery-Level states. The Chipset-Drivers provide the sensors and as the name suggests, the Intel Battery Management provides tools for Battery efficiency. The issue with not showing remaining battery is a bit of a head scratcher.
Not bad suggestions but there is only one problem... Both are already included with the Yoga Book setup files and the prebuilt ISOI might be wrong, but if he did a clean install without or not properly installing the "Intel Chipset Driver for Windows 10" or the "Intel Battery Management for Windows 10" the OS wont trigger the Battery-Level states. I know you did. But AllGray mentioned in another post he did a clean install and I am assuming he didn't follow your precious guide...Both are already included with the Yoga Book setup files and the prebuilt ISO![]()
Ahh If that is indeed the case then the two pieces of software you mentioned should most definitely be installed!I know you did. But AllGray mentioned in another post he did a clean install and I am assuming he didn't follow your precious guide...
Woah. so you mean i just need to download again the setup files from the OP?I've uploaded a newer version of the Yoga Book setup files. The seven drivers below have been updated. Nothing in the build process has changed. Any driver that previously had multiple versions included in the Yoga Book Setup Files has been reduced to only the latest version, removing a total of 18 drivers.
Broadcom 802.11ac Wireless PCIE Full Dongle Adapter
HID PCI Minidriver for ISS
Intel(R) HD Graphics
Intel(R) HID Event Filter
ISS Dynamic Bus Enumerator

I have tested this on a stripped build Spring Creators Update 1803 build 17133.1 (likely RTW) and performance is buttery smooth! I'm in love!.
You do not have to recreate The build unless you want to keep the latest up-to-date version of it. You can go into the device manager for those devices listed and update this way.Woah. so you mean i just need to download again the setup files from the OP?
also what do you mean by stripped build?
yay! i see. so this is different from the prebuilt ISO you shared in the OP. would you mins sharing this one?You do not have to recreate The build unless you want to keep the latest up-to-date version of it. You can go into the device manager for those devices listed and update this way.
The stripped build is something I put together that reduces the amount of bloat and clutter from Windows 10 down to a comparable level of Windows XP. Everything you need to work and not much of what you don't. Chances are it will be removed after I upload the newest version with the spring creators update. It is very similar to what I run on my computer minus about 100 registry tweaks.
It is included in the pre-built ISO ?yay! i see. so this is different from the prebuilt ISO you shared in the OP. would you mins sharing this one?![]()
hi. ive just checked - the pre-built ISO in the OP is dated March 20, 2018. It's the same as what ive downloaded before. or did you store it somewhere else? i cant seem to find it. thanks broIt is included in the pre-built ISO
The prebuilt ISO includes four versions of Windows 10. Stock versions of both Home & Pro with all drivers injected as well as stripped versions of Home & Pro with the same drivers injected are all included in the ISO file. Windows Setup should ask which version to install 2 or 3 screens into installation. If it is not let me know and I will recheck the ISO file.hi. ive just checked - the pre-built ISO in the OP is dated March 20, 2018. Thanks for mentionHello everyone, I come to you for a summary of my installation and... because I have some not too nasty worries, otherwise it would be too easy.
For my part I opted for a 1506 Arium version, the preparation of the key and the addition of the drivers went very well.
1507, not 1506 is the original Windows 10 build that went gold back July 29, 2015. This guide was initially written for 1703 and finalized on 1709. Some of the included drivers very well may have not even been installed on 1507 before. You've gotten me curious if the build process is completely backwards compatible. Since I've just finished integrating and testing two new drivers the timing couldn't be better. I will post my results in the next couple hours. Unless changes are very minor I will remained focused on 1703 onwards for the foreseeable future.
For the installation, I had to buy an sd/usb player, the key did not appear on the first one in the bios.
It's normally a two tap process inside the BIOS. "Boot Menu" followed by your flash drive. It has always been the bottom option regardless of which of the three drives I use for testing. Installation from micro-sd is only possible if began from within Windows.
Following the installation, I find myself with a very fast windows, very reactive halo keyboard (it does not miss any more the first letter), the functional dolby, the bluetooth (I had lost it in 1709 official). In short, happiness, and I immediately disabled windows update).
Problems:
-the pencil logo does not work (not too bad, I think it's just that lenovo paper/one note is not installed) I heard about nebo being better than OneNote
When you press the Any Pen light does the device vibrate and are you able to use the stylus? If so this is the correct behavior of the Any Pen button without Lenovo Paper installed. Once installed the button will function exactly as intended. The indicator light should never pulse in Windows.
-no automatic rotation
Checking......
-when I fold the yoga the keyboard no longer deactivates (if I close it -> windows goes to sleep but not the keyboard, so the screen presses on and it does not stop vibrating)
Checking......
In short, apart from these few worries, a big thank you to @Sandman45654 who allowed me to find the speed of my yoga!
thanks for the answer, for the case of the stylus, the logo flashes when I am on windows. If I press no vibration and the keyboard is still there so no possible use of the stylus. Thanks for mentionIf you've enjoyed the good you've seen so far and would really like to see the raw performance with no issues try the up to date stripped build! Be sure to set performance to maximum (tap battery icon) as it does make a notable difference!
