This got me thinking, all of those bricks because people just want to flash without even looking in the zip. Xda developers should be more about development and less about downloading zips and flashing them.
This is for x722 only
Hello, I've made this thread in order to clarify some users and to avoid possible bricks.
Bootloader unlock
For now the only way to unlock your bootloader is in 01D ROM
You need to update to 01D developper rom in order to unlock your bootloader, you won't be able to do it on other EUI versions.
It's pretty easy : Another Guide
you can find the file here: Download
Basically:
Attetion!!! This update is to be used in the official recovery, TWRP will hard brick, don't flash it with TWRP
Put update.zip inside your sdcard
Reboot to recovery
Click on install update, and 01D rom will be installed
Now you can reboot to fastboot mode and unlock your bootloader
In fastboot mode type

If you have a vendor/shop 20s ROM, you won't need to flash Batyan's ROM first. You can still do so if you're worried about a potential brick, it simply adds one more step to the process. The only time you absolutely need to flash Batyan's ROM is when you're on stock 26s or firmware WIXCNFN5802005041S
Click on SETTINGS button, then scroll to ABOUT PHONE and click on it.How can I identify which is mine?
Thanks! I'm on 20S. This should be easy then.[/COLOR]
Click on SETTINGS button, then scroll to ABOUT PHONE and click on it.
Then scroll till you find BUILD. It should show a value which starts with WIXCNFN<and a number>S release-keys
Check the 4th and 5th digit of that number. If it is 20, then you are on rom 20S. If it is 26, then you are on rom 26S.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
What that link has to do with that topic? This link is what I meant

Just make sure that your 20S rom is not the buildThanks! I'm on 20S. This should be easy then.
You can simply switch to an eUI ROM like Genesys' modded 26s or CrisBalGreece's AROMA ROM. It's not like any usable LeEco ROM for this device passes SafetyNet, which is usually the most popular reason for returning to stock. But you can easily pass SafetyNet using Magisk anyway. Thanks for the great instruction!
Is it possible, once I got to the 01D rom to go back to the one I had before, like 20S or 26S? And will there be any traces left?
Thanks in advance!
Do I get this right? With any ROM, wether its vendor 20s rom or original 26s ROM there will be Apps missing in play store? You can simply switch to an eUI ROM like Genesys' modded 26s or CrisBalGreece's AROMA ROM. It's not like any usable LeEco ROM for this device passes SafetyNet, which is usually the most popular reason for returning to stock. But you can easily pass SafetyNet using Magisk anyway.
Is this fully revertable? Like, can I go go back to the ROM I made a backup from and lock the bootloader again? Last time I flashed an Android there were some counter on the Samsung phones which counted the amount of flashes and they voided your garanty. I know that I probably wont have a chance to get any kind of waranty anyway. But in case I want to resell the phone it's usually better when you can reset them to the full stock modeAs long as you're on a vendor 20s ROM, you're fine to unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP and then make a Nandroid backup of your ROM.
I wouldn't switch to official/stock 26s if I were you. And the 20s vendor ROMs (and all custom ROMs here) come with Google Play Services. As for apps missing in the Play Store, since the vendor ROMs don't pass SafetyNet, you won't find Netflix there, I don't think. But it's easy enough to download Netflix from APK mirror. SafetyNet affects some banking and gaming apps, and you'd need Magisk to hide root and use those apps.Do I get this right? With any ROM, wether its vendor 20s rom or original 26s ROM there will be Apps missing in play store?
Generally, yes, on any device you can restore a Nandroid backup and then lock the bootloader. Is this fully revertable? I have no idea if stock 26s passes SafetyNet or not, nor do I care to know, since the risk of permanently bricking your phone is too high when you switch to it. If you really care about SafetyNet, I guess you could find a stock 26s ROM somewhere and update to it using the stock recovery via the update.zip method, and checking to see if it passes SafetyNet. But I don't think the 26s stock ROM is multilanguage, it might be Chinese only.
Generally, yes, on any device you can restore a Nandroid backup and then lock the bootloader.
LeEco phones do not have any software like Samsung KNOX. Samsung's totally gung-ho about security so they include stuff like KNOX on all of their devices, even low-end ones. I personally think it's stupid and you should be able to remove it completely, but if you remove KNOX from a Samsung device you'll probably brick it for good. :/
As for reselling the phone, I doubt the type of people who would want to buy a phone with a name like LeEco give a crap about official ROMs or updates. They're more likely looking for a cheap phone with good specs, or plan on rooting and flashing a custom ROM anyway. You'd probably get more money by flashing a custom Oreo 8.1 ROM on it and then selling it lmao
I haven't flashed a custom ROM yet so I don't know. You'll probably want a ROM where the dev is actively fixing bugs. I'd probably choose a LineageOS 8.1 ROM because I like LineageOS. I guess the ROMs are buggy because no official kernel source was released for this device. The eUI-based ROMs like Genesys tend to be bug-free though. Thanks a lot for your effort to answer my questions!
I guess I will check which ROM my phone comes with since I haven't bought it at any shop you mentioned before (probably it still has some ROM of them).
And probably I will try the default one first since all the existing custom roms doesn't sound too promising to me so far.
I really like the paranoid one but those little bugs people are reporting are scaring meFor me its stability >> everything.
I know it might be a little offtopic in this thread but I couldn't find a private message option yet. Which ROM would you recommend? A stock one (+root maybe?) or one of the customs, if yes, which?
Thanks in advance!![]()
It is extremely unlikely that there will be any official updates and even if there were, they shouldn't work with TWRP (which is a good thing, else you risk hard bricking the device). So if I flash that rom, unlock bootloader and flash twrp, how can I install again the latest version? Will ota work? Or after that i can only flash custom roms if I want?
