Dear Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime ¦ Pro user,

I'm not responsible if anything happens to your phone. If you execute this procedure properly then you shouldn't face any problems. I tried this procedure at one of my Redmi 4 Prime ¦ Pro running on Lineage OS. I have not tried this procedure with a phone running on original MIUI or any other rom but it is very likely that it will work with all roms. If anyone tries this procedure with any other rom please give us your feedback.

Before you proceed please backup all your important data and make sure that your phone battery is charged >80%! During decryption all your data will be lost!

1. Your bootloader must be unlocked and a custom recovery (twrp) installed

For more information on how to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery (twrp) please read here:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-one-unlocking-bootloader-twrp-t3587493

2. Disable the encryption

a. Enter recovery mode:

+ by holding together "Volume Up + Power" until you see the MI logo, release "Power" button but keep pressing "Volume Up" until you see the recovery, or
+ by holding together "Volume Up + Volume Down + Power" until you see recovery

b. On the main screen of the twrp, click "Mount" and check all partitions

c. Go back to the main screen of the twrp and click "Wipe"

d. Then click "Format Data"

e. Type in "Yes" and enter

Reboot your phone. That’s it, you are done.

If my guide helped you pls click "thanks" and enjoy your phone. :fingers-crossed:

Problem with disable encryption

When I check all partitions on mount and wipe --> format data, I loss all my data, so I can't flash any custom rom from my internal storage.

Once in recovery mode, connect to PC and transfer the desired rom to your smartphone. From there on you can flash the rom by following the instructions in point F., 5.-7. of the following guide:

He said can't flash rom from internal storage, but do we keep flashing from other source like sdcard or OTG? Thanks!

Internal storage, memory card and otg. All possible and I've tried. You can even full wipe even internal storage in twrp then copy the rom in internal and flash it in twrp.

I think you should make an emphasis to BACKUP DATA, because to remove encryption is simply rewrite your file (delete all then make a new non-encrypted one). So it's DEFINITELY DELETE ALL YOUR DATA.

Cheers :highfive:
