let me tell you a true story - i have a euro phone in the UK and since i bought it last year i have never had an OTA update and i check software update occasionally.

phone was purchased "outright", no locks, contracts or anything, and i'm on 5.1 version V10d-EUR-XX and have been since day 1.

think i'm the last dinosaur with this one haha! but yeah OTA updates seems broken.

Got my H815 back from LG today after bootloop bug (main board replaced) - had upgraded to V20a before problem and got same version when received back. Done OTA and found V20d. Upgraded ok but yet to notice much difference (however I haven't had it for a week, so anything is quicker than the back up phone I've been using!)

I got the V20D-EUR-XX update today. Too early to tell if the promised improvements to battery life are there.

I am pissed off though that the update uninstalled a load of apps I had on the phone. My homescreen is covered in black squares with the Android logo in which say "app not installed" when clicked on. I can't even remember which app was in which position on the home screen or which ones are missing from certain folders that are now empty.

Edit: Luckily I had taken a load of screen shots in case I needed to factory reset a couple of weeks ago. While it is largely in date there were a few extra apps I had installed since then that were in the app drawer, but 22 apps had been uninstalled because of this update. Thanks LG, nothing I like better than fixing your changes to my device.

Ahhh that makes me nervous. I got an update notification today (in UK btw). First update since I bought it haha.

Let's see if I have the same problem as you.

Is your bootloader unlocked? Different recovery or anything modified at all?

After updating to v20d I didn't lose a single app. All were in same place. But I did do a general reset after the update to have a clean install. I suggest to do the same.

I have an absolutely stock, unlocked European version of the phone. Bought direct from giffgaff in the UK, haven't rooted or done anything with the bootloader. Aside from adding apps and updates from LG it is exactly as it came out of the box.

Got some bad news for you @kingdave82 looks like you have an isolated issue.

I upgraded mine yesterday and had no problem. Did it via the software update on the phone, everything works as normal with no need for reset.

Sorry mate but on the plus side a fatory reset should fix it. Don't forget to sync your apps data, contacts etc..
