I recently bought a GSM unlocked 910H from ebay and I was going to follow the advice in this thread and use the patched LG UP to flash the H91520a_00_RGS_CA_OP_0717.kdz Android 8.x Oreo rom onto it. I live in Canada so I thought this would be the closest I could get to something that would be somewhat debloated and functional for up north.

I was not planning on running any root procedures because you lose root anyway when your on oreo. But in the future, I would like the option to root the phone.

Is what I am going to do not recommended? Should I just stick to flashing H910 Oreo instead of H915?

Because noobs cant. They want to live dangerously.
Why are you so angry? Maybe he isn't in US. Or hadn't at&t sim-card.
By the way I've got similar situation - V20 H910 from ebay, using outside US. But I've got an at&t sim-card from the seller. Unfortunately it's not activated. I'd tried to activate it on the at&t site but it's only monthly pre-paid plans there. Can someone tell me how to choose one-day plan when activating at&t sim-card?

I don't understand why people buy a US carrier based phone when they don't live there and there's an international version of the phone they could be using. And they wonder why they have connectivity issues smh.

There are things that are only available in the us and apparently if they have a us carrier phone in another country, they can access those things.

The 996 is full featured device, for example if you bought a 910 to get wifi calling and volte you have to have att service for it to work. But that wasn't what I was referring to, I'm talking about the many on here that don't live in the US, they buy a US based phone to use on some carrier in their country then they have data problems or no 4g or no mms etc. And they wonder why they have problems.

Oh, come on... He tried to say that this phone wasn't sold officially in many countries. In my case there are no problems with 4g, modem, mms etc. I just want to get software update. And with 910 it doesn't matter in US you live or not - only at&t network to get ota update.

Dial *#LGMENU#*915# > SVC Menu > Factory Reset (R&D Only)

Try that

Why don't you try searching for this instead of requesting someone else to do the work for you. There's an easily findable thread for rooting the h910 using a H915 KDZ

Saludos.

why are you worried about updates when you can't take them now ?

Yes you can convert your phone to 915 it's the first step in the rooting process
if you want to stay 915 use the H915 Oreo KDZ > https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/h915-oreo-kdz-link-t3826812

If you want a H910 on Oreo use my zip. If another update comes along their will always be another zip (provided we get root and TWRP for Oreo)
bro after converting to h915-20a my finger print stops working on h910

Use this to root.

Instead of flashing the 10v att image like the last step suggests, use the 20g Oreo image instead

H910 Oreo 20g: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262903991071

Thank @clsA for the Oreo link
I got myself refurbished LG V20 H910 recently. It is unlocked and I'm outside US. I would like to update to Oreo, because Nougat is already becoming outdated. Can I use this file that you provided from Androidfilehost to flash and will it be ok? I don't want root, just Oreo. Do I need to flash it via LG UP or there is different procedure. Thanks in advance.
