I have broken usb charger connector in the mobile too. Its hard to find position in which is phone charging.
Can you show me some link, or photo and name of your external battery charger ?
Anybody knows, with which phone is compatible this battery from haipai ?? If we should know it, we can buy external charger without problem. Thank you for you answer

I've bought a generic universal charger from ebay, but i didnt use it much because i've repaird my handset at local shop,
when the usb broke the reception was really bad, but after the repair the recpetion is ok - i'm wondering if the usb hub is somehow used as the antenna?

New kernel

Can u show more detail that step???
Thanks you :D

I'll try to be as exact as possible.

First you have to memorize where you can set back your phone's language to your one after flashing the ROM because it will start with Chinese, dunno how good you are at that but if as good as me, then it could be hard :) It's easy anyway, in the settings menu there is an "A" in a box in the front of the right row and if you hit it, you are saved.

Second, you have to back up your IMEI numbers with Mobileuncle Tools (or anything similar). There are other methods as well for restoring IMEI but this is by far the easiest.

Everything goes as described in "Update 2" in the opening comment.
You have to unzip all the data included in the zip posted by Angelo and replace the mentioned files (EBR1, EBR2, MBR _AND_ recovery.img) with the same files from the June 19 folder. After that you should flash the kernel exactly as described in "Update 2" chapter, but in my case the operation needed the battery, without it it couldn't have done. Just tick the "Auto detect" radio button.

After succesfully flashing the kernel, restart the system to check whether everything ran fine and then boot into CWM and flash the zip file found in MTK6575-2.5G-Root-ByPP.7z

After that, you'll probably have 2.5 GB internal memory and a fine system with some new features.

If you have some triangles in the left top corner saying that you don't have any SIM cards, altough you see them, restore the IMEI numbers _after removing the SIM cards_ with the tool mentioned earlier (or with any other mehod). After reboot with the SIMs inserted again it should work flawless

Of course, it's your own responsibility, i had some hairy moments until i came to the solution, and that the above mentioned steps worked in my case cannot guarantee that they'll in yours, so under every circumstances you _have_ to make a nandroid backup for all the cases you don't expect but can unfortunately happen.

sdcard/sdcard2 issue

One more thing which is very important.
After installing as described above, you'll have an SD card with a size of ~33 MB and an SD2, which is your hardware SD card. This isn't perfect because most of the apps want to use the sdcard directory, and you can change it in some of them but cannot change in the others (even if you can who wants to change it in almost every app?). This is bad as well in case you have your apps backed up with titanium, because the path probably leads to ...sdcard in every case.

The solution is fortunately simple (for you at least, i googled it for 3 hours): you have to change 2 rows in your /system/etc/vold.fstab file

You'll see two lines like these:

dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard2 emmc@fat /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.0/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.1 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.1/mmc_host/mmc1

Change them to these:

dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard emmc@fat /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.0/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard2 /mnt/sdcard2 auto /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.1 /devices/platform/mtk-sd.1/mmc_host/mmc1

Remember to give the new file the same permissions after overwriting the old one with it (-rw-r--r-).

If done, reboot and it should be okay.

Hi Angelo,
thank you for the link again. Unfortunately the light sensor stopped working after the update. As the G-sensore hadn't been working properly from the very first moment (very rapidly changing values with high alternates), i would like to ask whether have you ever heard about a similar problem? Are there any patches which can solve it?
thanks

re flash using correct drivers and firmware.it seems you may have flashed incompatible firmware or the right firmware with wrong driver settings.

They dont seem compatible together on your device. All you can do now is flash stock firmware making sure it is the firmware that is appropriate to your device, did you make a note of the firmware you were running?.if you know for sure re flash mate.

After successfully rooted, it will install root explorer.apk Chinese version which is rather useless for installing Market because it's all in Chinese. Thus, you need to download this "ES File Explorer" in order to put Google Play into the system folder. People who have a problem when installing Google Play by using apk, for example: Error processing purchase [DF-BPA-13]

*UPDATE 2* Here is a custom firmware ( most of functions are working and rooted ) , all credits to yiminghung and angelobiz, as usual general instruction and faster links are brought to you by zBeYuz :D

    0. How To Flash Haipai Noble I9220 Firmware On YouTube By Angelobiz

    1. Before upgrade to this firmware, remember to backup all your apps using My Backup or Titanium Backup so that we can restore those apps later.
Download ADB driver if you have not installed it ( Tested on Windows 7 )
You must have debug usb active in your phone. this driver need for use adb command example for root script or use MTP function.

    2. Download firmware + flashing tool + drivers from here: May 7 Firmware With New System.img
OR Only Driver For Haipai I9220: Drivers

    3. Unrar the firmware, turn off your phone and take the out battery, then plug the phone into your PC.

    4. Install the driver from the firmware folder that you unrar before, then plug out the phone.

    5. a) Go to Flashtool folder and run SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.exe
    b) Choose Factory Database --> Setup data source file: "MTK_DATABASE.mdb"
    c) Choose File --> Open download agent file: "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin"
    d) Choose Scatter File: "MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" in Firmware folder.
    e) Choose the figure same as the picture: SmartPhone MPD.jpg, which can be found in Firmware folder.

    6. Make sure the phone turned off and the battery was taken out. Click Start All and plug your phone into the PC then wait about 5-10 minutes for the flashing process to finish ( Write OK ! ).

    7. After it is done, we are good to change the IMEI. However, before that try to turn on the phone to see whether the phone is working or not.

    8. If everything is ok, excepted IMEI was missing, download IMEI Changer Tool from here: IMEI Changer For Mtk6575

    9. Unrar, install the program and run SN_STATION, which can be found on your desktop. Follow the instruction in the Chinese manual, but we only need to follow the picture in that manual.

The file "Modem Database" and "AP Database" is in firmware folder. You need to choose exactly the file that you see in the picture.

    10. Write down two IMEIs on the back of your phone ( you need to take the battery out to see it ).

    11. Again turn off your phone and take the battery out, then plug the phone into your PC, but this time we need to put the battery back in very quickly as soon as we see:
"COM port searching and preloader handshake ok" on SN Writer Log.

    11. Wait until "Write Result Indicator" becomes green, then the IMEI has changed successfully.

OR you can try to change your IMEIs by using ZOPO IMEI ( Thanks to colouriste )

    1. REMOVE SIM CARD(S) FIRST !
    2. Check "Dual Imei"
    3. Type in original IMEI #'s 1 & 2 and then
    4. Click "Write"

Enjoy the new firmware with GPS working, wifi improved, front camera working, beautiful font and more...

2-1) Here a online translation of custom recovery in English: ( Thanks to angelobiz )

? What is it ? 2.5gb data means never again out of storage for apps. You lose "internal sdcard". Only useful if you have hardware sdcard

    Wait...... Wait....
    Reboot your phone"

If you are stuck at Booting Screen, please try those tips below ( For UPDATE 4 Only ): by zBeYuz

    1. Did you forget to extract your system.zip in firmware stock 05 June folder ?
I just found out earlier that I totally forgot about it .
Just extract that file you will get system.bin then delete system.zip and start to flash the firmware normally. ( Booting up will take about 3-5 minutes after it is done ).
If the phone is still stuck please consider the next step...

    2. One more thing to take note, I am using different flash tool from angelobiz:

You can refer how to flash with this flash tool here:

    0. Driver must be installed: http://www.4shared.com/rar/9onOaDl5/Driver_New.html? ( Please refer to UPDATE 2 for more details )

    1. Download Only Flash Tool: http://www.4shared.com/rar/v8txho3k/Flashing_Tool.html?

    2. a) Go to Flash tool folder and run SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.exe
    b) Choose Factory Database --> Setup data source file: "MTK_DATABASE.mdb"
    c) Choose File --> Open download agent file: "MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin"
    d) Choose Scatter File: "MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" in Firmware folder.
    e) Choose the figure same as the picture (Setting f/r SmartPhone MPD.jpg), which can be found in Firmware folder.

    3. Make sure the phone turned off and the battery was taken out. Plug the phone into the PC and wait about 5-10 minutes for the flashing process to finish ( When you see it becomes green and states that "Write OK" ).

    *UPDATE 5* ( Quote from angelobiz :D)

    Tips + Tricks:

    1. Thanks mikeysteele: "One thing I noticed after installing Set CPU is the kernel defaults to the Performance Governor. This means the CPU is always running at the maximum frequency so that might explain the poor battery life. I changed it to the On Demand governor and my battery life has improved."

2-a. Thanks angelobiz: For remove old, hidden driver you can see this: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/504/how-to-uninstall-hidden-devices-drivers-and-services/

2-b. Thanks caviar44: This is a tool to remove old drivers: USBDeview v2.11. Just right click on driver instance and then choose "uninstall selected devices".

Read and heed - You have to read the whole thread

Funny that you should quote me without fully posting the quote (which comes from part of the older procedure as card is misspelled) or thanking me but what the hey. As per my post here on Haipai June 5 ROM improved XP flash instructions XPflash. Linked Rooting Procedures (which is also included in this post), is the CAVEAT:

READ THIS ENTIRE POST FULLY AND DO NOT DO IT UNTIL YOU'VE PRACTICED IT IN YOUR MIND SEVERAL TIMES AND FEEL READY TO DO THE REAL THING. YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF TO BLAME IF YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG.

Things, procedures and even files change. While the first post is very helpful in getting a new user started, it is not the "be all, end all". If you as a new user to potentially a new operating system like Android are willing to brick your phone or its components by not fully reading this thread and determining for yourself that you FULLY UNDERSTAND everything you need to know and do about flashing or rooting your phone, YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF TO BLAME FOR THAT.

That's why newbies in Dodge City did not last long.

Oh BTW, while my post there is fairly current, I modified it again last Thursday with a friend but am waiting to update it upon three more test installations with a new Haipai i9220. None of us are getting paid to do what we are posting here or to update it and if you really want to thank someone, send a donation to angelobiz via PayPal or Resquer.

I tell you what, whenever Resquer posts, I stop everything I am doing, sit up and read him fully. Then I thank his posts along with angelobiz as they are the masters. Me, I am an padawan in training but I wield a mean lightsaber and Qui-Gon Jinn has nothing on me!!!

***PLEASE NOTE*** - The first couple of steps to flash a ROM and ROOT your phone are the same because XP needs to FIND the phone FIRST

READ THIS ENTIRE POST FULLY AND DO NOT DO IT UNTIL YOU'VE PRACTICED IT IN YOUR MIND SEVERAL TIMES AND FEEL READY TO DO THE REAL THING. YOU ONLY HAVE YOURSELF TO BLAME IF YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG.

Recommend printing out this post when you flash your phone.

    Driver Installation
Install Android SDK package on your computer system. Make sure that you have Android 4.03 installed as a package. After initial installation, check for updates and update those necessary for Android 4.03.

Download the MT6575 USB VCOM drivers . This is a 7z file and you might need 7zip software to unzip this type file:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?f4fs2rcwe5zmcvl

7zip these two files to a seperate directory (recommend called C:\MT6575).

Download the MT65x3 USB VCOM drivers (different set of RAR files):
    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?7vcpw08njg1xgfy

Unrar this directory of files to a different directory (recommend call C:\Android USB drivers).

Turn on your phone, Go to setting-developer options-click USB debugging. On the same screen, turn on or Allow Mock Locations and Stay Awake (for keeping the screen always on while charging).

Connect your phone via the USB cable.

Your XP computer should now find new hardware that needs to be installed.

Use the manual setting to use the directory for the MT6575 USB VCOM drivers you un7zipped to C;\MT6575 directory.

XP will install these drivers as a MT6575 device and it will also be a mass storage device.

On your computer, go to the C:\Android USB drivers directory. Go to the directory, called MT65x3 USB VCOM drivers. Double click InstallDriver.exe to install the XP MT65x3 drivers.

XP should now recognize your phone.

Click the USB tray icon to safely disconnect the phone. You will need to disconnect it twice as a USB storage drive first and Android Device second.

Reboot your computer and do not connect anything to it or run any other programs.

At this time your phone is now ready to be ROOTed or have a new ROM installed.

    ROM Flashing
Download all the files into a new XP directory (recommend call June 5) in this link (20 total):
    http://www.mediafire.com/?e2f9h8bfb1f66#

UnRAR the system.rar in this directory and delete the original RAR file prior to flashing your ROM. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Download Angelobiz update.zip and copy it to your SD card. Recommend putting it in a directory called UPDATES (DO NOT UNZIP IT).
    http://www.mediafire.com/?o9d7g9c9xurk3

    Download SPflashtool.rar and unrar it to your computer;
    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?7i906d966w22xu0

Prior to flashing the new June 5 ROM, watch this youtube video which details the flash procedures:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Zhds67Cehtg

After downloading all the files, unzip the system.rar file into the June 5 ROM directory, reboot your computer and do not have any programs running or any other USB device attached.

    Start SPFlashtool on your computer.

Select the scatter.txt in the June 5 directory where you stored the 20 files.
Select or choose (fill in the check box) all the files listed on this menu.

Turn off your phone and remove the battery.

Click the download button on the SPFlashtool menu.

Attach your phone (phone is OFF with battery removed) via the USB cable to your computer.

Wait for the SPFlashtool to find your phone as a MediaTek device on one of Ports (Port number may vary).

BE VERY PATIENT and wait for the files to be downloaded or flashed to your phone.

When it is completely flashed, remove your phone after the box pops up saying you have a new phone.

Replace your battery but do not turn it on as normal.

Recovery Mode Entry to finalize new ROM Flash
Hold the volume up key first and then press the power on button to enter recovery mode.

Select "install zip from sdcard" using the volume buttons from the recovery menu items.

    Select"choose zip from sdcard"

Choose the directory on your SD card where you have the update zip file stored.

Run or choose it with the power button.

Select the right update.zip Select it using the volume buttons.

Run or choose it with the power button.

    Wait, be patient and wait.

Your screen will flash several different parts of the update zip file and pause several times. Sit on your hands and do nothing until you are very sure the recovery flash is done.

    Reboot your phone.

    Successful Flash
If you've done it right, your phone will show a bright green "running rain or static stuff" from top to bottom with an Android robot on screen. You will hear a loud long noise.

Set up your phone by going to system; set date, time, time zone.

Go to System Utilities. USB Debugging should not be checked unless you are going to root or flash a ROM.

On the same screen, turn on or Allow Mock Locations and Stay Awake (for keeping the screen always on while charging). Recommend leaving these always checked.

Check out Storage on the system menu.

If you can only see the internal storage you will need to download the alternate partition zip file (DO NOT UNZIP IT).

Alternate SD Card Repartition due to a failure to see SD card
Download the alternate partition zip file (DO NOT UNZIP IT)
    http://www.mediafire.com/?1b114ii0ylqhmug

Install this zip file by following the same steps you used in recovery mode (please see Recovery Mode section above) to apply the update zip file.

Enter Recovery Mode and follow the same procedures to install the alternate partition zip file.

Exit Recovery Mode by the menu reboot.

Go to the system menu and Storage. If you can now see the internal memory and SD card. Your phone is now flashed. Root it again as per the XP Flash Procedures.

For XP Rooting Procedures, please see my newer post:

IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SD CARD AFTER FLASHING JUNE 5TH FIRMWARE AND ANGELO 2.0 FIX, THE ABOVE WILL HELP YOU.

Unfortunately, the first post has been edited and makes no mention of this vital step. I had to search the thread to find a solution. If original OP can take note of this, it will help a lot of new i9220 owners. Thanks

Alternate SD Card Repartition due to a failure to see SD car
Download the alternate partition zip file (DO NOT UNZIP IT)

Card was misspelled in the procedures that were modified upon my subsequent post which told me where the post had been quoted from.

After successfully rooted, it will install rootexplorer.apk Chinese version which is rather useless for installing Market because it's all in Chinese. You should be able to find Filexpert.apk from the web, and install it.

Here is how to install Google Play Store:
    1. Download Vending.apk from http://downloads.androidadvices.com/apks/Vending.3.3.12.apk
    2. copy Vending.apk to \system\app\ folder in your phone by using Filexpert in RW mode
    3. change permission of Vending.apk file to Read/Write for Owner; Read for others
    4. shutdown your phone.
    5. switch on your phone, you will see Google Play Store app, and enjoy!
