but on my Star N8000 phone, the version written on screen is Touch v2.0.1

I think that I flashed the wrong version of the recovery

So, how can I flash the other version of the recovey ?
because, I can only access to Recovey "Touch v 2.0.1"
In fact, with this version I flash properly the firmware "Taiwan101_STAR-i9220_V.03" on my N8000, but after the reboot, I get the blue robot picture then nothing, only Black Screen !!!!

Is the "Star N8000" phone and "Start i9220 PAD" are the same phones and can use the same rom "Taiwan101_STAR-i9220_V.03" ?
because while executing script flashing it is written "START-I9220 Pad", but my phone is Start N8000

I just upgraded Star I9220 Pad to the new rom.
Wifi works without change (still week signal)
Camera, market, maps, location works ok.
I didn't have time to check GPS.
For now everything else looks ok exept that I have lost my data partition (2GB)
I got it under SDcard (the Sdcard was as SDCard2).
Can someone help me with it ?

So, something is wrong, I need to find Original Star N8000 firware.

adding the STAR prefix to the i9220 does cause confusion, especially as there are language differences here. Split the thread and dump the STAR N8000 into it's own arena

I am dreaming about custom N8000 firmware just like stock (without any custom "crapware"), but with A-GPS fixed (may be done on stock) and 2,5GB Data.

But I need the USB Driver for MT65xx Preloader

Do you know where can I found theses MT65xx Preloader driver for Start N8000 ?

It it with this driver that I will be able to flash a new recovery with Adb ?

how you flash many roms? for flashing it you must have a dirver for preloader..
otherwise... in the first post there is a link fr removed all old driver.

ROOT Star N8000 + Haipai i9220 / Tutorial STEP by STEP for beginners

THANKS to THIHAZ + LAUTON + MICKEYSTEELE and all others contributors from XDA DEVELOPERS!
This post is for beginners like me who just want to ROOT phone BUT need some little help step by step

I used link to TUTORIAL "how to install easily Google ADB driver using PDANet install" : http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2012/05/easily-quickly-install-android-adb.html (thanks to LAUTON for the link)
It was very EASY and QUICK = My phone is reconized by Windows XP and now it is ROOTED !


HOW TO ROOT PHONE:
- Download MTK6575 phone drivers + ROOTtool zip archive ( https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B96pdh3MCBWgWmdnc25jRThTXzA ) and unrarchive directory on your Computer desktop (you will have two DIRECTORIES + "TUTORIAL" file)
- Take your phone and Set USB DEBUGING "ON" in developers options parameters + Set SIM CARD PIN as "OFF" in the security parameters
- Shut down your phone + take out the battery
- Plug phone to computer with USB cable and put battery back
- Windows will find an "Android Phone Preload" and ask you if you want to automatically install drivers, select manual installation and find the drivers in the directory "STAR_N8000+HAIPAIi9220_Phone_USB_Drivers" on your desktop.
- When drivers installation succed, UNPLUG the phone and TURN IT ON
- Keep your phone ON and connect it again to your Computer
- Install PdaNet using the tutorial : http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2012/05/easily-quickly-install-android-adb.html
- When PDANet ADB drivers installation finishes you can run "TPSparkyRoot.bat" file from directory "ROOTtool"
- For every message wich ask you to "click to continue", LET THE PHONE COMPLETELY RESTART (process will ask you 3 TIMES and the phone will restart 3 TIMES)
- Phone is now ROOTED, you can disconnect it and enjoy

If process doesn't success, run again file "TPSparkyRoot.bat" (i needed to run root process 2 times because i didn't let phone completely start before clicking to continue root process)

Don't forget to set back SIM card PIN to "ON" in security parameters


HOW TO IMPROVE (a little) BATTERY LIFE : (thanks to MICKEYSTEELE for tips)
- Download and install SetCPU : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mhuang.overclocking&feature=top-paid
- Set GOVERNOR item as "ON DEMAND" bottom of SetSCPU parameters screen, in MAIN folder
- Select and activate "ON BOOT" (the bottom of the parameters page)
- Click on home button validate settings and return to desktop phone page
- RESTART your phone and enjoy

ps : battery life will be saved for a couple of hours, not a couple of days

and before flash the Taiwan101_STAR-N8000_V.05-1.zip , do you have flash any ROM ??? and do you have wipe data/cache/dalvik-cache ????

please download the official firmware ! and replace the recovery.img with custom recovery image !
open the flash tool , and loading the scatter file from official firmware path, only choice the recovery item on flash item block, press the "download" (pop the warming windows, press "yes" and continuous)and then connect the phone which keep hold the vol up button .

Flash Custom Recovery without erasing data?

I'm now on Chinese Custom Recovery. (Hipad i9220)

Just curious, is it technically possible to flash a new Custom Recovery (e.g. an English version), without affecting (erasing) existing apps/data?

Hate to re-install/set up all apps.
