First of all, surprised nobody posted about this yet considering the NV is a game centric device :cyclops:

Anybody play these on the Shield yet? Both games due to some puzzles and objects that need locating, found and/or shot in some levels seem more suited for larger displays (especially HL2). That and the 2.1GB plus user data that is installed also killed the urge for me- and that is just for HL2. I only have 2GB on mine as is and need about 1GB free for Android to behave nicely.

More the reason this device needs at least 32GB internal and a bit bigger display to help with PC res oriented games.

I've tried Portal. You're not missing anything. Same game, 5" screen, 30 or less FPS, dual analog controls. Nothing to see here.

The new Tegrazone usually highlights new games so theres no need to post games unless you want to talk about them. :)

Hm, if you want a bigger screen then you could play these games A) on PC or B) big tablet + gamecontroller. But B) is not an option for now since it´s Shield exclusive for now. A 5 inch display isn´t a deal breaker for me.

Yes, these games are big in size but with a 64GB microSD Card and FolderMount (Root required) this isn´t a problem for me. And I have a lot installed!

I think its not bad to play Half Life 2 and Portal on Shield. Both are classic titles who add something special to the library of Shield Games. There are far superior versions (PC, Xbox 360) of these 2 games but if you want to play them outside without internet connection, there is no other way (except playing on a Notebook but who carries this bulky thing to play?!).

But hey everyone has a different taste, so... :D

Anyway, this thread should be in Themes and Apps Section, since it´s obviously an App discussion .

Can Half Life be moved with to sd with the built in app move function? Some can and some can't.
I've been trying for the past two days straight. Including wiping my entire SD card and internal memory and downloading the game from scratch. I just can't get either HL or Portal to launch after transferring to SD.

Sometimes I get a black screen, sometimes stuck on Loading, and sometimes the game just disappears from my apps list and I get the Install option again from the Play Store.

I'm not sure why, but I can't get anything to work after moving to SD. All other games that support it work perfectly fine...

So it can be moved, but not work. Hollow victory until Nvidia and/or the dev fix it. Most people that own the Shield are likely not wanting to put such a big game on the already challenged internal storage.

Hoping the Shield 2 has a 32GB option.

Ive played hl2 on the shield and then also on my 52 inch tv and it worked great. The smaller display doesnt really diminish the value of fps games, they play really well. Oh same goes for L4D2, both source games.

Most people cant tell the difference between 60 and 30 fps. Yes you can run them at 60 fps however i set mine to max out at 30. Less lag in my opinion.
? lol.

Theres no way to cap or unlock framerate on shield. Also is not possible to not see 30fps vs 60fps difference.

Anyway, back to the original question, no it doesnt. Sometimes is above 40-45fps, but mostly around 30 fps. Portal is mostly stable around 30, solid id say.

Of course you can lol.
Just stand still and move the camera, you can clearly see some judder at 30fps but it's not that bad though cuz of the small screen.
Personally, I can't play games under 40fps on a bigger screen with >20", it's just a pain in the ass.

You got it wrong mate. I said it's not possible to not notice the huge difference between 30 and 60 fps.

Since someone said that is basically the same. Which is wrong on thousands of levels.

Read my post carefully.

Rofl. Yes you can. Who said 30 and 60 are basically the same? I also stand by the fact MOST people cant tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps.

With my setup Running at 30 fps seems to be more consistent because when im running 60 and i have a framerate drop ill see the stutter. Running at 30 fps it doesnt seem to stutter. But thats my system and im streaming from a laptop.

Yes sorry I read that one wrong, you could've said, "It's possible to see a difference" makes it a lot easier to read xD

Still, it's not "lagging" so we can say it runs pretty much playable, even better than on the PC I played the game on in 2004.

For perspective though, the game still runs better with low settings than it did on a lot of PCs when it came out. On a five inch display, I do not notice graphics differences from a PC with a much larger display. No harm no foul.

I do notice the 2.1GB of storage hit, but is what it is. Seems this device should be 32GB rather than 16GB. At least offer both as an option. I would guess the 32GB would sell more, since a game-centric device.
