Boot Loader?

Please Answer:) Is the boot loader locked or not? The T-Mobile G3 came unlocked out of the box. Region did not matter.

For security reasons no OEM will ship will unlocked bootloader, but some give you the option to do it.
This is not true. T-Mobile did ship all of their G3s unlocked.

I am considering getting this phone, however amazom.de has it listed for 650, anyone know a better price? I'm in Europe and need an European model.

Originally got my T-Mobile G2 because I heard the G2 had an FM radio, it didn't, I have been dissapointed ever since, despite all the upgrades the G4 has over the G2, they sound nice but I don't use them, I would definitely have used an FM radio, but none of those upgrades I will not use, so no reason to upgrade, yeah spend another $600, I will just keep what I have and hope maybe next time the G5 will have the FM radio

Why does FM radio have merit, well I like listening to fresh music when I go exercise, have to wait in line somewhere, or just hooking it up to my speaker system on the tv, listening to music without using data and not spending extra money for music or downloading illegal mp3s.

I currently have to carry portable fm radio and phone, I would prefer just to carry the phone but it doesn't really matter, most other phones don't have one either. But wished they would clarify when advertising that only International will have fm radio.

Do any phones these days have FM radios? Seems like a dying feature.

Also, I am assuming the G4 has an IR blaster? Those things come in super handy at hotels for hijacking the room TVs to change inputs for my Amazon Fire Stick

Update:
Looks like a shortlist but the HTC M8 has one. Probably the best you can do at the moment.

Maybe he Samsung Galaxy S5, look here. I am hoping that includes the S5+. Still can't decide between G5 and S5+. The G4 is larger than I want and Saygus may yet be an option.

Sadly I don't that site is accurate. It lists the Samsung S6 and edge but a quick search shows that it does not. Also the LG G2 and G3 do not. The LG Flex 2 has a snapdragon 810 (overheating issues, maybe under clock?) but I havent confirmed. Anyway, that is a different topic. FM is not wanted or needed for me.

I am concerned with the size. The G2 is great but I am 5'6" and do not have monster hands. I am a Network engineer so I am constantly have my hands full. Making a phone require 2 hands is called a tablet at that point. I miss sizeeasy.com for quick comparisons.

You can use http://www.phonearena.com/phones/size to compare phone sizes.

More specifically, here are g2 vs g4 size

GPS receiver strength?

Although the international versions of the phone are supposed to have FM radio (according to GSMArena at least) I would have been surprised if any U.S. carrier hadn't arranged for that feature to be disabled. It used to be because they wanted to push you into using their streaming media in order to use up your data allocation. Though with T-Mobile you don't use up your data balance so that rationale no longer makes sense. I for one would like the feature enabled as I do occasionally listen to terrestrial radio and would appreciate the option. Perhaps if the hardware can still accommodate it this could be enabled in a custom ROM.

I just ordered the G4 with the 128GB microSD card to replace my Note 3. Apart from the ability to add storage with cards I'm anxious to see if the GPS works better. Samsung's recent phones in general, and the Note 3 in particular, seem to be saddled with weak GPS sensors. They worked better back in the days of my original Tab and Galaxy SII Skyrocket but the newer phones just don't acquire a GPS lock on their own too well (and barely better with an A-GPS refresh). This is well documented and numerous fixes have been offered with varying degrees of success. I use my phone with Google Maps in lieu of a standalone GPS both in my vehicles and when I travel and the device's ability to function in this manner is important to me.

Based on your experience how well does it work? If you wouldn't mind or haven't done so already, could you use the GPS Status app to put the GPS through its paces? It's a free download. Here's the link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2&hl=en

Try it after rebooting the phone and give us a feel for how quickly the GPS acquires a position lock both with A-GPS and on its own. If you would be so kind... I (and I suspect others) would be most grateful!

Do the pins on this Qi sticker match the pins on the T-Mobile back?

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Wire...-Housing-Back-Cover-Case-T01/32357030303.html

Could you compare your phone to the photos on this web store? Last year, US models of the G3 had different pin placement than other models so we had to be careful about which Qi stickers or Qi enabled backs we bought. Wondering if they're all the same this year so I can just go ahead and buy this now and have it soon after I purchase the phone.

My G4 arrived today and I'm loading up my apps as we speak. I'm pleased to report that when I started the GPS Status app it took just a few seconds to acquire a lock. :victory: Just the way it should be! And based on my cursory examination of the phone and its features I will be satisfied with it going forward. So my Note 3 will be going back to T-Mobile. It was a good phone and I will miss the stylus but it's time to turn the page.

Just to confirm, the sticker on the inside of my cover in the image I've uploaded is not the one associated with wireless charging but rather NFC? Just so's I know before ordering a Qi...

If there's only one set, then it's NFC. Is that the T-Mobile model? Can you compare the pins on the phone to the pins on the sticker in the link I posted above yours? I want to make sure they match so I can order them ahead of time.
