Solar controllers that charge lead acid batteries usually "equalize" the cells once a month.
That means running the voltage up to 14.6V for two hours once a month.
The controller people make this the 28th of each month.
They make it the 28th to make it towards the end of the month without any more refined logic.
And it works in February.
