Yes, use the duplicate phone to make the image. I have never had to use this method so i dont know if it will work. Other people say it works though. You havent got anything to lose if your phone is already bricked.
I have only ever made the debrick.img and that was easy enough.

Have you got a custom recovery installed? For example cwm or twrp or philz?
You need to find out off someone if you can use the file in the opening post to create the debrick.img on your model of phone. Because this thread is for s4 mini. I dont know if you can or not? If you can you just download the file from the opening post and put it on your duplicate phones sd card. Then you enter recovery and choose install and Select the file you have just put on your sd card. That will then run for a few seconds and then it will say completed. Then you boot your duplicate phone back up and go to your sd card and you will see a file created called debrick.img.

I just added some more info on the post above.
Do you have warranty on your duplicate phone? Because you will lose it if you flash a custom recovery. If you have warranty and dont want to lose it or you dont feel comfortable making a debrick.img you should go to the forum thread for your phone and ask someone who has the same phone as you for them to upload a debrick.img that they have already made. If you are not bothered about warranty and want to do it yourself you need to find a custom recovery for your phone from the section of xda that is for your phone. The problem i have is that i only have a s4 mini so dont know methods or have any files that i can upload for you to use. Its pretty easy to put a custom recovery on your phone. You just download one. Install odin on your pc then use odin to flash the custom recovery on your phone. If you search the section of xda for your phone type there will be posts that have custom recoveries to download and instructions on how to install them.

I flashed a different debrick.img and now I flashed a the firmware from sammobiles, but my phone stucks on Samsung S4 Mini logo and reboots constantly.

If You flashed a new Pit file or Updated by OTA (that can bring one), make new debrick.img . From 4.2.2 to 4.3 also.

PS: All People, make your debrick.img and have it on extSdCard by security.

Flash this by Recovery. Saved on Internal Sdcard. Copy it to extSdCard.

(Whit the usual Recovery from @arco68 Dev, the debrick.img is on /data/media.
Whit the Recovery from @Phil3759 is on /sdcard or /storage/sdcard0.

Finally, I've got the i9190 kitkat 4.4.2 debrick.img file dump from someone on FB forum. I've uploaded the file on Google Drive. Hope it will helps others with the same issue. Please remove space and replace the (dot) with appropriate characters...

You dont need the pit file, just let it boot with de sd card then press home+voldown+power it will boot once again and then will reboot on s4 mini logo screen, again press home+voldown+power and you would be on download mode ready to flash the firmware, i folowed those step just like in the video of this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600869

Dump image called debrick.img have 128 MB. But to create the Sdcard on PC we need one from 16 or 32 GB.
