Hard reset/factory reset

I think I'm getting stupid by asking this question

Recently i contacted razer support, i had an issue concerns the 3.5 adapter

The operator told to hard reset and the phone data WILL NOT BE DELETED is this true????

Also he told that there is a difference between hard reset and factor reset!!!

So please anyone give answer for this stupid question

Its like holding the power button down on a PC that is locked up and you have to get it to reboot. It makes the phone reboot differently and do some cleanup that isn't normally done.

You hold down both buttons until the phone shuts off. I don't know how much clearer I can be.
